Title: How active members do we have?
Post by: Waffles on October 15, 2012, 12:40:25 AM
I'm asking because the more we have, the better our chances.

If we somehow get the game running and such, it won't be the same without a large amount of players. Granted the game was a ghost town if you weren't on a virtue or freedom, But you people on virtue and freedom get my point.

Intermittently active due to real life constraints (and not on Virtue or Freedom)

As long as it's legal, I'm in.

Being a federal government employee, I cant afford to be linked to anything illegal, especially when it deals with an international corporation, regardless of the scale of breach of law.

Even if for some reason I cant partake, I'll say this now, I hope you all succeed regardless of how you all get it done. Let this game live on in one way or another whether actual or in spirit.

Sorry I haven't been around much over the last few days--I had a family emergency come up out-of-state. But, yes, I'm semi-active, real life permitting--it turns out getting two post-graduate degrees at the same time is hard work. Who knew?

What exactly are you referring to? It almost sounds like this thread is missing a post before the OP's regarding some kind of emulation of CoH.

Regarding that, I refuse to partake or play on any emulation of City of Heroes. I know some people feel differently about this but that kind of scenario is both illegal and will never have the number of players CoH ever had.

Regarding what will happen if City of Heroes is saved.. well, if it's saved, City of Heroes will have so many more people than we ever had at its peak it'll be ridiculous.

I've always said the #1 problem with City of Heroes was it was never advertised properly, if at all.

Should it be saved.. it would be like getting another chance at life. We would do things differently, and I for one, would not sleep until after having campaigned to let as many people as possible know about how great the game is. I'm talking millions of new players and more in advertising dollars.

But you know what? Nobody ever did, at least not those on the populated servers because all we ever saw was 2-3 yellow dots and from what we were told the game was "healthy". Sometimes it seemed lacking in the number of players but it was never something in your face most of the time.

Had any of us known the true fate of CoH with enough warning time, I'm 100% positive we could have easily saved it by working together to bring in new blood. We never got that chance and it is both my biggest regret and something that disgruntles me with regard to NCSoft.

There are 4 in my family that play, 2 vip paid full time 2 paid vip part time. I have friends that play on and off as well.

2 of us play at least 4 times a week and 1 more plays that much when he's well. The other is off and on.

I considered myself quite active before 8/31. I averaged 2 hours a day during the week and 4-6 hours on the weekend.

Since 8/31 I have played for approximately 2 hours. I will be playing for 24 hours on 10/20 and that will be my last day for CoH.

I have played this game since March 13, 2005. I took a 2 month break when Issue 7 hit; the bugs drove me crazy!

I have tried other MMOs but none of them kept my attention for even a week.

I will NOT play on an emulator. Not only is it illegal, but I consider it immoral. CoH is not OUR game...it is NCSoft's plain and simple. We have no right to the code..we have no right to the product after 11/30.

If this is referring to the Plan Z "City Of Phoenix" or whatever it is going to be called. I will not be playing that either. I played CoH for fun...and a big part of that fun was the friends I had. Since 8/31 every single one of my global friends has quit playing CoH. I have logged in every day...and I stand there..... I have talked to my friends outside of the game and for them...CoH is over. None of them are interested in Plan Z and none of them are even considering paying on an emulator.

So I had a great 7 year experience with CoH...which is nothing to be sad about or angry over. I knew CoH would close eventually...sure I thought it would prolly be 1-2 years from now, but it's now...which I am ok with.

Agreed, I wish I had spread word of it beyond my friend circle - making sure to promote the game on FB and on various gaming forums.
It's a damn shame NCSoft didn't bother to do that, their Aion is (or was) all over Youtube and plenty of other sites, while there was never a single ad for CoH.

It's so illogical isn't it? That they couldn't grasp the concept of return on investment advertising? There is SO many things they could have done with a game like CoH really.. they could even have had a donation month where a certain % of VIP subscriptions profits went to charities, generating some buzz that way, or advertising before the premier of movies like The Avengers in theaters.. free t-shirts for VIP's..  Im going to stop here because its pointless now but you get the idea.

Well, until I got caught up with real life projects I was pretty active again. I've been with the game since about 2005. I'm willing to contribute what time I can realistically spare. This includes any programming time and 3D art skill I have. I'm also an officer with a small, start-up, game software company and have other industry contacts. FWIW, I did try to contact NC Soft about my company trying to purchase CoX - I simply got rebuffed.

I still play at times.  I have toons on most of the servers as I've been playing since April of 2004.

What servers have the most players these days?  I see very few on those I have my 50's on - but I do have lots of TRANSFERS!  ;)

i have been playing the game basically everyday for about 6 years, the last month or so i havent felt like playing the game though because if its gonna be shut down it makes me feel like im wasting my time making progress on something thats gonna be unusable in about 6 weeks, the other reason i dont play it much lately is because it kind of depresses me

ive still been active on the official forums as well as here though

After 8/31? I can't bring myself to play. :(

I'm still doing three (http://grayaccord.com/pages/perfect_storm) static teams (http://grayaccord.com/pages/army_of_fizban) a week (http://grayaccord.com/pages/team_goth) with my group of friends. We did lose 3 members who vanished pretty much the day of the announcement. The remaining 6 have been steady and I think we'll be running until the day the servers shut down.

We finished one recently, and are even about to start a new team (http://grayaccord.com/pages/injustice_legion), even though we know the odds of getting anywhere near 50 before that happens are slim. We're archiving everyone with Sentinel+ as we go, with the hopes of someday being able to finish it.

I will be there if we save it. I find it hard to play anymore right now given the circumstances, it's just depressing and the lack of the i24 stuff I was looking forward to just upsets me more. I continue to spread the word on Twitter and Facebook though.

For now, I'm jumping between free play on Star Trek Online and Champions Online. Champions has come a long way since it's launch of being utter shit but it's still NO substitute for City of Heroes. I can't even properly make my trademark costume there because of a lack of identical or similar tights patterns and chest emblems.

Got through my loss of enthusiasm phase, now active again, mainly on Victory.

Some friends and I generally play a couple hours a night pretty much 7 days a week.

Right when the announcement hit it was very hard to play, and I still get almost overwhelmingly sad sometimes when playing, but
I have found things I like in Champions Online and DC Online. I have lifetime subs to CO, DC and Star Trek.

The main thing for me is going to be finding a game where at least some of my friends join me.

Not as active as I used to be, cause most of my SG moved to SWToR/GW2. But alot more active since the announcement.
I play on Champion. ^_^

I play each day, when I can get to me pc  ;)

Played for 4 years solid, stopped because I had done everything in the game (Jan 2009). Never stopped thinking or talking bout CoH though.

Was gonna re-sub in august but RL issues bogged me down til I heard the news, early september.

Now I am here to play as much as possible, take screenies, demo's, etc til lights out

Still active but mostly to take screenies and and demos of my most beloved toons.

I did make the point of playing all the way through Night Ward because I hadn't done it yet (much less beloved toon).  It is very hard to log into my favorites because I cry a lot when I am doing so.

I'm still active, and will be through the forseeable future.  Since my old account got deleted (I was a veteran of I9, NCSoft, why?), I never got the chance to purchase Paragon Points or a VIP account when getting back into the game.

Thus, I'm on Beta pretty much exclusively.  'Course, if we can save the game, and do away with those cash shop features, rest assured I'll be on a Live server with a vengeance.

I still play nightly on Virtue.

But it's quite sad knowing it (the game) is going away. I'm trying to soak in as much as I can.

Doing my best not to think that it will soon be all over.

But reality happens. All good things come to an end and we can't focus on the negative.

Thus I play and just enjoy myself. Ironically, I've made more global friends since the big announcement than before. :)

I was a beta tester for the game and have been playing solidly ever since. I play every day I can (RL permitting) on Virtue and Union. Pinnacle was my original home server, so when I'm not playing, I try to stand vigil there at City Hall.

I was never very active, and my internet service is lousy in primetime so I could nrarely play when it seemed most everyone else did.

If someone takes over and advertises (with a promise of long-term commitment), I expect it will quickly get back to the primetime weekend crowds on Freedom/Virtue, but probably not much on other servers no matter how many new players come along. Players go where there are already lots of other players as soon as they realize the need to team on demand.

I play on virtue daily with a friend who plays the same. My family has three more accounts one is regular the other two not so much but enough so that all of us had year in advance subscriptions. If the game was saved we would all probably play about the same as now. All of us have always been on virtue since around christmas 2004

I'm afraid I'm non-active.  Found out about the shut down when I went to get the game client.  :gonk:

Semi-good news.  I got the NCsoft loader finally working and now active.  Two characters I can play Rotten Luck and my Peacebringer Anonymous X.  my Global is @MrBlackthorn and I'm on the Virtue Server.

Semi-Active on Virtue, mostly shoft-time playing with Alts i'll never finish.    :(

AND If I ever see a call for a Magisterium (Or whatever the Trial with Tyrant in it is called :P) i'd log my fifty (Refracted) to do that. :P   She's 37% from completely and totally finished (Full final build, t4 all incarnate stuff...just done).  Haven't seen one yet, but my play hours have been compromised by home responsibilities right now.

I'm active every night on Victory and run full teams although it is getting tougher to get a team together.
Mish teams are easier to put together because there are less level restrictions.
Hard to get incarnate stuff going since you have to be VIP.
Hit me up if you need a team on Vic @Lady Luck

I'm intermittently active; currently (this past week) am in an "active" phase. Mostly playing on Beta at the moment, but otherwise am largely on Infinity (which has always been my "main" server). I have several characters on Exalted, but I haven't logged into them lately.

I really need to dl Sentinel and start getting the data from my characters, and take more screenshots, but I'm also trying to play through some old content and remember the stories/pay attention to the stories more, as well as playing with all the "new" stuff on Beta that may or may never see the light of day, whatever else the future holds.

(On another note, I just learned last night that you can auto-complete every 10 minutes on Beta, which I'd never known before, so thanks for that tip, whomever he/she/it may be that gave it to me.)

Still active, and doing my best to help keep Pinn as active as it can be.  There are weekly PvP, MSR, Praetorian teams, and nightly TF's.  I play nightly and will be there til they try to lock the doors.
