Title: Press releases: The second wave
Post by: Rae on September 08, 2012, 12:01:16 PM
With the petition hitting the 15,000 mark and tonight's unity rally on the way, we're in prime position for some follow-up media.

I'd really recommend that people who have already contacted various media outlets contact them again tomorrow morning with a follow-up on the campaign - the new points are obviously the 15k signatures we've got calling on NC Soft to change their mind, and a report of the unity rally (how many people? What was the mood? How many incidents of Atlas Park did we spawn? How many people paid tribute to the devs in the costume contest? Were we backed/supported by any red names/celebs?)

Take bucketloads of screenshots, too and attach a couple with your press release. Servers that are full to bursting are going to make NC Soft look even more in the wrong for turning us off.

Save some of the screenshots, as they'll also be great for future press releases. The busier Paragon/The Isles/The D/Prae is looking in the media, the more daft NC Soft look.

Looking forward to seeing some of you there :)

Oh. Yes. Also - any celeb support is also newsworthy - Gaiman's retweet and any other celeb retweets/support, if they are happy for it to be known in the media, are worth a mention.

Duh.

Speaking of full servers.  They do fill up don't they?  Lets say Virtue is full, maybe we can get an "in this order" list put together of what server to fill next.

I've just had a text from my buddy at Starburst. They're going to give us a follow up story on the protest/petition etc., Bless 'em.

Maybe he is Hami.

Good news, everyone!  Starburst will be running a follow up article, too.

My friend said we are also up for consideration as a topic on their radio show, too, due to the amount of comments the original article got.

If you didnt manage to comment on the SB article, please do, as it will help to make that happen.

Soon as the new one goes up,  I'll link it here.  It should be tonight, or tomorrow, he reckons.

I just left the author a comment basically stating the irony of him finding something so worthless worthwhile enough to write about.  ;)

We're living in his head...and on his blog...rent free.

We should thank him for the free press. ;)

Good point. It's like having a game blog and posting on it that city of heroes players should find a worthier cause than a game to save... *tumbleweed*

I vote for ignoring this one-sided, insulting, and unprofessional article as much as humanly possible. TonyV posted a good rebuttal in the comments. Let's take the high road not give it more attention than that.

Just goes to show that a Chief Technical Officer doesn't need to know anything about public relations or grammar to get ahead.

Yeah, I didn't call attention to it over Twitter for exactly that reason.
