Title: Fire Control/Empathy Build
Post by: Ceph on April 28, 2011, 04:31:18 AM
Ive always wanted to try out Fire Control (why I haven't yet is beyond my knowledge; I mean Fire Imps? Heck yeah!), and I've always liked Empathy, so I figured, let's give it a go!

Pretty much decided to get everything from the Fire set except Char (yes I'm keeping Bonfire).

My question is - what's a good slotting recommendation for Fire/Emp?

Ideally I'd like to create a well rounded teaming Controller with a emphasis on TFs and the like. Not so much a farming hero, although I wouldn't be opposed to creating a farming build (3 builds, why not).

Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks!

Forgive the length as I haven't a clue how to format these bloody things...
Here's what I have for the only build I've bothered with. The toon is primarily offensive w/ AoE healing & selective buff powers as it's hard for me to selectively buff a person on my config. Most people would probably put more into the team buffs and drop the cloak, but some days I just wanna ghost ya know. Sadly I tried a Pure Fire Corr as well, but I'm disappointed by the lack of attack powers. Almost makes me wanna reroll as a blaster.  :-(

I'm curious why you opted for Char over Hot Feet - Char being a single-target immobilize vs Hot Feet being a slow with mild dmg.

Char is a hold, not an immobilize.

If I'm going to be frank (not Frank, that's my dad), I really have no idea what WanderingAries is doing with this character. Says it's  a primarily offensive, but power choices are very weird. No Hot Feet on a primarily offensive character? Really?

And then the slotting is just silly. Defense IOs in Stealth? Really, you really want to increase that (approximately) 2.5% defense to 4.something percent? That approximately 2% extra defense is really going to make that much difference? ONE recharge in Fortitude, plus slotting tohit and NO defense?? Recharge in Ring of Fire, which is already only a couple seconds recharge?

It really, honestly, looks like you went "I'll put one of every possible IO in each power, that looks about right." Note: it's not right.

WA, I recommend taking this build back to the planner and doing some serious tweaking.

I think I primarily chose the ranged powers because the toon wasn't a melee character. I had hotfeet once before and probably got too much personal agro instead of letting the pets take it. As for slotting, I'm not quite to the point of wanting to dive into sets yet so the IO's are basically overclocked Enh at this point. I mentioned that single target-ally powers were logistically tricky for my setup in part because of manual dexterity. That's why I flooded the AoE heal and didn't balance out those instead. As for your last comment...you're not terribly far off base, but there's so much I'm trying to relearn since coming back last issue.

SO...what about those recomendations for the OP?
