Take a walk, calm down. It's not the end of the world. You don't get paid to do this and you just inherited all this which wasn't in a perfect, neat little package. :)
We all learn from our mistakes... and others... ;)
It's not worth stressing yourself over all of this. I like the Titan Network and all it does for me. Feeding my badge addiction and letting me show it off (what little I do have :P).
I'm not extremely tech savvy, but if you need any help with simple things, I don't know what that would be, then I can offer my time if need be. I think I donated once to the TN, does that go to you now?
Again, take a breather. Things happen. Take care! :D
-
Seconded...
You have a big job that you are doing for free (with donations from those who can). We appreciate what you folks are doing but don't want you to burn yourselves out.
If you do that we lose Titan altogether and that would be bad :-[
Take care of yourself then worry about the little things...

I screwed up similarly (http://paragonforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=588#3358) with the Paragon Wiki once; lost the whole damn thing, backup and all. The last good backup I had was at least a day or two old, but even worse, the restoration process took like three or four days. I just about pulled my hair out over that incident.
It's a rite of passage, something that everyone has to go through at some point or another. Such is the price of us not being paid to do this full time. (Although make no mistake, it happens in the biggest and most professional of datacenters as well; I know this from personal experience. I'm just saying that if this were my full-time job, at least 15 minutes of every day would be spent pulling and validating backups...)
The bright spot in all of this is that sysadmin to sysadmin, I know that this most likely will never happen again with the Titan Network. Once you've been burned by this, it really tends to motivate you to take measures to ensure that it never happens again. ;) Another bright spot is that in times like these, you really find out how valuable your resource is to the community. ;D

Thanks guys/gals, I needed that.
-
Don't worry about it Steiner. Personally, I'd rather go through having to re-enter all of my characters manually than to never have this resource available again... and I think the entire Titan using Co* Community would agree with me.
-
Just look at it this way....Spring Cleaning of sorts....anything that was corrupt and we didn't catch (Characters with no Pilot), is now gone :P. Not that it really mattered...space not being an issue with how the Data is stored, but you know how we get discussing all the "excess" stuff....lol!

No-one will be as mad at you as you are at yourself.
-
Indeed. I know what it's like to make a boneheaded move that upsets the user community. (Anyone remember HeroStats 4.2.0.0? It wasn't long for this world.) Mistakes happen, ya fix 'em, ya move on. We all appreciate your work, so stay calm, learn from the mistake, and keep on pluggin'.

Everyone makes mistakes, it's how we grow.
Of course, if you do it again, we will find you and reenact the scene from Braveheart with you as the star. You know what scene I'm talking about...
-
the mourning star? it's the only scene I saw in the entire movie... :D
-
"But, of course, we're not on my island." :)
-
More's the pity...

I logged in today for the first time in a few days. I couldn't remember if I'd updated one of my characters.
My jaw dropped when I only saw 4 characters listed. With single digit badge numbers. I spazzed. I freaked. I cursed. I hit the forums, to make my first ever post asking about what in blazes happened, noticed the Announcement post, and ... oh. Well. Okay then!
I'm a klutz. I completely understand! :P
-
Everyone makes mistakes. Hang in there. Live n' learn. Then make backups. ;)
-
There are two kinds of people in this world.
Those who don't backup and those who nowadays backup.
I'm still in the first category. ;D
Congrats on your rite of passage Steiner. You'll do fine.
-
I honestly didn't expect everyone to be this understanding of that foul-up.
Rest assured, I have 3 different procedures setup to save the live data from any form of screw up now.
Thanks again for just being a great community and not chasing me out of the Titan Network in angry mob fashion.

We could still make this happen.

We could still make this happen.
Took the words right out of my mouth >: ).
