Title: Request for assistance with my first Ill/Emp Controller Build
Post by: rbpinheiro on January 26, 2009, 04:18:11 PM
Not sure if I slotted right.  And don't have a clue as to what I should put in the slots.  Inf isn't an object.  I hope to use for PVE and PVP team (Solo against similar).

Thanks.  I see that I have similar powers and slotting.  So...I'm on the right track.  I am curious to know why you used the power absorb pain and only slotted ressurect with one instead of three (reduce recharge) as I have read on a lot of other forums/sites though.

Absorb Pain is the highest ally cast for HP in the game, mine is in the neighborhood of 2000 HP, though I've seen defender empaths do much higher. It has great potential from saving most arches from near death to near full health in one cast.

As for the rez, I'm a damn good empath... so the chances of my teammates dieing are much less, so that variable was factored when making this.

Food for thought;

With my Empath, my keybinds are a little different that most. I change my number row, (the numbers under the F1, F2, etc keys) to reflect the people on my team.
And I have all my powers mapped to my number pad with the same ctrl and alt modifiers as it had for the original keybinds.

This will make you a more efficient empath, because the second you see your teammate's life decline, you can just press the number they are, F to follow them and bash your target heal (Absorb Pain/Heal Other) before they're killed. I've seen other players try and click the character via the team console, and other try to actually click the teammates THROUGH the mob, which is near impossible... I found this system to work best.

I've been playing empaths since i3, so I have a lot of experience with Empaths. My first one was a defender, but retrofitted a controller empath because it would contribute more in lvl 50 TFs and arcs.

Also, I picked up the epic with Conserve Power, because controllers are relatively end heavy, but this build should return more endurance than you're using (minus the big cast powers like RA and HA... however, as soon as those are thrown you won't have an endurance issue anyway).

Those key binds sound great...and complicated.  Not good at key binds.  glad I asked.  This was very helpful.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in to this conversation and touch on the key bind part, key binds can be very simple if you know what you want to accomplish with them, i bind my therm corr and my emp in similiar ways, cept i bind my team mates to my numpad and leave my powers on the upper number row, i also bind my main heal powers to the numpad using the add, multiply, decimal, and divide keys, for example:
 /bind add "powexec_name cauterize" so when i hit the add button whichever team mate i have selected gets hit with some heals. /bind numpad1 "team_select1" selects the 1st team mate in the team list..this also helps free up your main number keys for attacks and heals you use during your 'attack chain". I also have my numpad enter key set up to switch me from fly to sprint and combat jump to super jump while also turning on/off super speed.  I am willing to help set em up for ya if ya like..hit me up in game @faero malikite.

and it has a 1 End cost. Which is for the life of me why I cant undertsand why you slot a generic  endrec in there. Shouldn't that be a reacharge ?
