Title: Update June 22nd (1.4002)
Post by: Mids on June 22, 2008, 05:10:51 PM
The update to v1.4002 just went online. Hopefully it addresses most of the issues raised so far.

You're using IE6.   Really, you should upgrade or install Firefox :P

But if you can't, just rename the downloaded file to mids.exe or something, and it will install.

IE6 is the only browser that has a problem with the download page.

IE6 is terrible and should be avoided at all costs.

Make that Mids.zip, it's not an exe - I really do need to sort out a self-extracting install archive at some point.

IE6 is bad and must be punished.

There are reports that IE6 has been stealing people's lunch money recently.

All the more reason why I started to bring a lunch instead of money to work.  I tried to download a .rvmb File just the other day, IE6 said no...but last month, it let me....and I changed nothing....so it's just degrading as the days go by.  Can't wait to get rid of it at work...I'm told next year, but I can only dream...

Wait until it just stops working altogether.  It's happened on 2 computers I've seen, one was mine.  It's like the DNS lookup part of the browser had better things to do and wouldn't resolve any sites at all.

I couldn't repair it, because the only copies of the IE6 were on disks that I had from other stuff, all of which were an older version, so it refused to update.

I couldn't uninstall it all the way, because, you know, monopoly.

I finally talked with people in game who suggested Firefox, then managed to download that through a very basic browser that came on a CAD program.

4 months later, IE6 just started working again, and yelled at me for not doing some update or other.

I only pray that my IT people...or rather, their boss, sees the light before this potentially happens to us.  Because if my IE goes down....I'll actually have to do more work then I do now, to keep busy.
