Title: A new Captain America? Marvel to release new Cap on Monday.
Post by: Peacemaker on July 06, 2014, 04:58:36 AM
WTF Marvel!  Steve has been drained of the the super soldier serum and his role in the marvel universe is changing to more of a leadership role.  On Monday July 7 marvel will release the identity of Cap's new replacement.  This is pure speculation but from the cover of Avengers #35 people are saying that Falcon will be the new Cap.

This really pisses me off as Brubaker killed off Cap for a time so Bucky could take the lead.  now we drain him of his super soldier serum so someone else can take the lead, until the next captain america movie comes out and Marvel wants movie goers and new cap fans to be more in touch with Steve Rogers as Captain America.  Just leave Steve in the role (even though I did like Bucky taking over for a while).  Sorry for a small rant.  I shouldn't complain too much as I haven't enjoyed the series since Brubaker left and Remender took over.

Is that third or fourth time Cap is dead / depowered / no longer using the identity?
Comic books, remember? Status quo is god.

Or Marvel Comics/Studios is testing audiences to see how they'll respond to Samuel Wilson (the Falcon's secret identity) wearing the mantle. Moviegoers in the know are expecting Bucky, but what we don't see behind the scenes is what/how the directors and actors feel. Chris Evans (the actor playing Cap) has said he plans to retire from acting and become a director after his contract ends in/around 2017. Pure speculation: the actor playing Bucky may not want the role; or Marvel Studios, seeing what charisma the Falcon's actor portrayed in Captain America 2, doesn't want to pass up a good opportunity without testing the waters in the comics. And I can't blame 'em. The Falcon is good for the job.

Yeah he has been depowered quite a few times over the years.

Then there was the time in the '70's when his serum reacted with some toxin from the Serpent Squad and he got Thor like super-strength.

In the 80's he stepped down and became the Super Patriot.

So the big news on Monday is that a new Cap is on the way so be sure to read the comic and find out.

I think it was funny people were asking for Marvel to fire Remender because they thought he wrote Falcon getting drunk and sleeping with/taking advantage of a 14 year old girl (jet black who  it turns out is actually 23).  I think he should be fired for writing a bad story line. J/k, while I haven't enjoyed the post brubaker captain america I will remain hopeful reminder's story will get better with red skull and Zola back in the picture.

I didn't enjoy Bucky taking over for Steve at the time,  but it has grown to become my favorite storylines and I loved he idea of the sidekick taking over.

So many times over the years Steve Rogers had given up being Cap and it always was a disaster with the guy who took over.

Bucky so far is the only Cap replacement that actually had a good run and didn't die / turn evil / get injured or die.

I was going over the Cap run around 179 - 184 or so where he became Nomad and like 2 or 3 guys tried to take Caps place and I think they all died or got seriously injured.

But in the end the point is only Steve Rogers can really be Captain America.
