The New Efforts thread got my hopes up, as well as my nostalgia. Are there any other Khelds out there still lurking? Miss you guys :(
While I don't post a lot, I'm not quite a lurker....so....
I want my Peacebringer back! :'(
OH I am soooo ready to play my PB again!
I don't have my hopes up, as I'm incredibly cynical when it comes to videogame companies, but I did play my PB to 50, and I miss playing her. Pure human form, IO-tricked build, PPD awakened, using the PPD veteran chest emblem. Good times.
We must be careful when we return. Who knows how far along the Void Hunter-Praetorian conspiracy has advanced...
[Photographic Evidence (http://1drv.ms/1jTSFNq)]
You know it's been too long when you're not sure if you're spelling your own character's name correctly.
[Screenshot of Deimosyia (http://1drv.ms/1jTTiXg)]
Peacebringers were great.
Nice pics, Scotty. Unfortunately my comp that I use to play on gave up the ghost, so I no longer have my old pics or builds.
Did you pull the hard drive? Or have the machine collecting dust somewhere? There may still be hope!
My [Peacebringer (http://1drv.ms/1mnVch9)] was a bit more generic than Dei. I don't even remember her name. In fact, I based the costume on that "Clanket" billboard. (It's a Cape! It's a Blanket!)
I like the headgear there.
I accidentally wiped the hard drive while trying to fix it. Absolute gut-wrenching moment. I was able to recover a couple docs after that, but nothing of value. I've been remaking some of those builds in i24 Mids, which has been fun in itself.
I had a kheld, but only got it to level 28. This is due to 2 factors, 1 I couldn't get used to the complexity of the at and 2 I discovered scrappers :D
wow ScottyB love your screenie of Deimoysia!! She is amazing looking <3
Trying out both Kheldians is on the list of new characters for when SCoRE gives us the game back (sorry, so faith in NCSoft's ability to see reason :( ). I already have back story and costumes for both of them.
If our characters were somehow still available.. I would be running my All Human PB like crazy....
and I would have to make an All Human Warshade as well..
I miss my peacebringer like crazy. Hybrid Z was a tribute character I made in memory of my father when he passed away. I loved playing the character, it's a shame he never got his sash though.
I struggled thru to level 50 on an energy/energy blaster (who, OF COURSE I love dearly and play like a psychotic-rage blapper) so I could roll a warshade. Funny how most responses went PB, which I still have not tried. Also funny that I felt strongly enough about good v evil in a general way in RL that I never rolled a single villain, but was willing to go dark on the khelds.
I had constant issues playing my WS with teams. I mostly PUGged, just because my commitment level was low. I'm sure it was me, but I could usually not pick up a working team synchronicity with the WS. I oftn would offer to switch to my damage-heavy blaster or a defender or controller. There were situations where we had a tank and some other mixes, and I said "okay, no major team deficits here, i'll just bring the jack-of-all-trade WS and adjust accordingly." Sometimes it worked, and other times it was an entertaining disaster. But I always knew it was a crap-shoot going in, so I never had any regrets.
That being said, I thought the WS was the most fun to play solo, because of all the forethought required in approaching a mob of baddies. Having "blapped" with energy/energy previously (kill fast while mitigating with knockback), this pattern came naturally. For me the WS was a blapper with a few more options (PETS! TANKABILITY!)
After 32 on the WS, I was pretty much "tanking for fluffies", dancing from base form to spawn another fluffy and lobster form to tank aggro away from them, with some creative deviations once in a while just to see what would kill me before I could come up with a killer sequence of complicated dance moves. Coming from a blaster who died way more often, it was all fun!

Yes, playing a warshade was incredibly satisfying! This warshade guide (http://dechskaison.blogspot.com/2011/01/mfing-warshade.html) turned me on to them with the line
QuoteYou are all forms at all times. Thinking anything else will cripple you without you even realizing it. You are never stuck in one form. Nova thrives on human and dwarf buffs. Dwarf protects human and nova. Human fuels dwarf and nova. Embrace this idea.
It's not a build or even a play style, it's a state of mind.
WS driver here, man did I love those purple fluffies. After leveling as a tri-form, I changed over to a bi-form human/nova. I would run in, buff up and then switch to one very tough flying squid and blast away until I could drop form and leech from dead bodies and extract my fluffies. I could get 3 out at most times and had a nearly permanent eclipse.
I really enjoyed it before the fitness pool became inherent, it felt so freeing to have no endurance issues without that pool or the need to pick powers in order to get a travel power also.
She became my second favorite after my main/first toon.
Tri-form Peacebringer here (my third 50). (first: claws/sr scrapper, second: mind/lkin controller). I started my peacebringer back when they got unlocked after getting a character to 50.
Peacebringer was my AT of choice (instead of warshade) because it was so different from my first two 50's; it was time to try something different.
Anyway she was a blast. The air gunship that she was and all of her jack-of-all-trades abilities made me come back for more. I would have liked to master the playstyle: conceptually it was a fun idea but she always felt considerably weaker compared to the other characters I put significant time into. If I ever get the chance I'd like to figure out how to make her more viable.
I use to have a Peacebringer, but then she took a Shivan blast to the knee...
Human form for solo, second build was tri-form for teams...
My 50 warshade was a tri-form mess. I wanted to fix him by shutdown, but ran out of time. He grew up with a stone tank as a primary teammate, so he never really had to do much other than blast away. Early on, I made a bunch of key binds on my full size gaming keyboard in order to manage the forms...went over to a friends and used his laptop...no maco keys...now that was an adventure;) My 50 PB was a human form toon who pretty much stayed retired once the level cap was reached. I do miss that WS...he was kinda like that money pit of a house that never gets fixed.

... Ye Olde Backstory Guide writer here. So.. yeah.
Miss my Khelds. Had two PBs and one WS to 50 by shutdown. On top of all the other alts.
Yep, Micro (and others) I'm still here.
I drop in from time to time just to see how things are going.
I miss what we had even though I had a very satisfying sign off.
AIB
Bill and AIB?! Fantastic :) I sent THB and Stone a message, but I think they are long gone. I've seen a post by Plasma, but don't know if it's the same Plasma or not. Also seen Alien One posting here and there. I didn't play towards the end, so I missed out on all your kheld events but here's hoping we'll be able to play again.
AIB, you still have that build you solod the GM with? I'd like to take a peak if you feel like sharing.
Here it is...

His Story
Photon was first discovered by the FIST operative Airhammer in his visits to alternate dimensions through Portal Corporation. Airhammer found Photon as an energy being he came to know as a Breightling. Unfortunately his energy matrix was destabilizing after a vicious attack on his dimension by Void Hunters who confused them with the race known as the Kheldians. Breightlings have a similar energy signature and the same weakness to quantum energy, however they cannot alter their shape and are normally in a pure energy form. Neutron and Excalibur created an exoskeleton that stabilized Photon's energy matrix. His understanding of energy flux has been crucial to the success of the FIST project and the improvements in the Airhammer exoskeleton. He is convinced that the appearance of Void Hunters in this dimension is a pre invasion force and he is determined to make the Hunters feel hunted.

I wanted to make an all human Warshade.. never got the chance :'(
A PB guy here. I had a few of them at L50 (on various servers) that I played with fairly often.
Mine were typically Bi-Form (Nova/Dwarf) focused. I wrote an early (I-4) guide on that
approach way back when... I did have at least 1 true tri-former that I liked, but the human-only
builds just left me scratching my head and wondering "Why bother - just make a scrapper
instead". :-X
I never could get into Shades much, only got one into the high 20's. I did PL one WS to L50
so I could eventually try out Dech's guide and see if I could like that playstyle, but unfortunately,
I never got around to slotting him up before the game closed.
I'd definitely rebuild a PB if the game ever came back though - I had a lot of fun with mine.
Regards,
4
I had one of each. Major Anniversary (PB) made it to 33 before I got distracted and Greybeard Fiest (WS) was only leveld to 5 so I could move him around for dayjobs with Ninja run. I was always planing to run him some day.
Maybe I'll get the chance!

Interesting the proportion of pb lovers to ws lovers in this thread.
I had two Pb's at 50 one was single form the other triform. I had started several Ws'sand scrapped them I had started a Wb before the shutdown notice and got him to 35. I just enjoyed Peacebringers more than Warshades.'s

WS have higher potential performance, but PB are much easier to build and play even if they can't hit the same levels of power as a WS can under optimal conditions. My highest PB was an Incarnated 50 and my highest WS was 38. After some of the changes to Kheldians i had started to tinker more with finding good builds and strategies for my Warshades but then the game shut down.

Unfortunately I never got to play a WS.. However I believe that same levels of power might be somewhat relative..
My final All Human PB was perma hasten.. perma light form.. perma inner light ( build up ).. perma Essence Boost (Dull Pain)
Same capped resistance as Eclipse but didnt need enemies to do it..
About the same potential Damage Buff but again dont need enemies to do it.
A much smaller self heal in reform essence.. but again.. combined with Perma Essence Boost easy healing and again.. no need of enemies to do so..
Can spawn my own pets in Photon Seekers.. However I think the Dark Fluffys are better..
The stun on the WS is much better than the one on the PB however..
I do have a WS build which is Perma Eclipse.. Perma Hasten,, Sunless Mire and Stygian Circle both recharge very quickly..
So IMHO they are definitely going to be comparable.. hopefully I get the chance to find out

Bill and AIB?! Fantastic :) I sent THB and Stone a message, but I think they are long gone.
No, no, I'm just sitting over there. In that corner where nobody can see me.
One more forum kheld still here. I wonder if Smiling Joe is around?

I had one of each purpled and incarnated and they were almost balanced around the consistency of the pb vs the raw potential of the ws after the last round of changes. There was still a huge difference between the pets, and warshades were way better at controlling/got more use out of the forms, but both were excellent fun.
I played a PB, but only got her to around level... I want to say 19. Might have been 17 or 18. Definitely not high enough for the Dwarf, which I was looking forward to.
I also started a WS at the same time as the PB, but I got fed up with him dying over and over in the very first Kheldian mission you get. I don't know why he felt so much squishier than the PB (who had no trouble at all with those same missions), but I didn't level him past 6 before deleting him.
I made both of them before DFB existed, though, which might have made a big difference.

Photon Seekers were more like very erratic mini-nukes than pets. Whereas constantly having three to four resistance-capped Koosh balls out blasting next to my own res-capped Nova was a little more... explosive. i still say that as far as potential raw damage and control goes Warshades were generally above Peacebringers, but it was much harder to maintain. You needed a constant stream of enemies and their bodies to get something near peak performance. A WS tended to slow down when facing small groups of enemies and single hard targets were tougher to take on than hordes.
