Title: What kinds of things were in the pipleline?
Post by: Matt Bold on May 19, 2014, 05:20:37 PM
Gameplay/Mechanics wise, does anyone know of a definitive list of what was yet to come?  The last thing I remember was water blast and nature affinity that I never really got to play, but i remember an obsecure thread somewhere that had a bunch of powersets that were yet to be released.

Off the top of my head:

Ready to roll with i24:
Bio-Melee and Radioactive something or other
Power Color customization
Sorcery power pool
Wolf (panther?) shape and flying disk travel powers
Rogue/Vigilante cards
Plus several new story arcs and missions

In the pipeline (some of which you can see in the game now):
New Zone (Kallisti Wharf)
Water Blast
Martial Combat for Blasters and/Defenders (I think- it had this cool ricocheting ninja star power)
Primal Melee
Origin Pools for the other origins (Tech, Natural, Science, Mutant)

I know I'm forgetting a bunch.

Martial Combat was a manipulation set, so it was Blaster only.

Water blast was already out for blasters I believe.

But you can add Quivers to the costume creator as well as a post apocalyptic costume set.

Also a Moon base was coming later (not sure when).

Check the Lore AMA page for some dev responses to player asked questions: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA

You can also go to the wiki and look at all the pages with "future content" templates on them. There are only two in use: the I24 template (all pages that use it: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Issue24) and the "Unimplemented" template (all pages that use it: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Unimplemented).

Note that the Issue 24 content is essentially confirmed, since I24 did make it to beta (where most of that info is pulled from). The "Unimplemented" template has both future items, as well as cancelled content that will never be in the game (it contains mostly power sets, either future or dropped). I suspect those pages are more in line with what you're looking for, since the Lore AMA has much more story line stuff than mechanics.

Additionally, I'm not sure the wiki has much information on the upcoming change to LUA script. LUA is a programming language that by all accounts would have enabled the devs to do some really cool things with the mechanics of missions, and how they worked. I can't speak much to that, but there are threads here that discuss it (but I don't think there are any that have it as a main topic, so have fun searching :p ).

There are a bunch of unfinished powersets in Icon, some with obviously placeholder animations:

Radiation Melee
Savage Melee
Psionic Melee
Radiation Armor
Wind Control

From a post on the old forums, there were other sets that were in the early planning stages:

Close Quarters Weapons (no idea what this would entail, exactly)
Wind Blast
Magnetic Blast
Sniper Rifle
Autumnal Blast
Thrown Weapons
Magnetic Control
Water Control
Light Affinity
Wind Assault

Other sets that were part of I24:

Bio Armor
Martial Assault (Dominators)
Martial Combat (Blasters)
Sorcery (Pool - this one was fantastic on my Blaster)

Feral Might and Primal Gifts, both mentioned on the Unimplemented page on the Wiki, were power sets from the unfinished Primalist AT and weren't in the pipeline anymore.

The other origin pools (Experimentation, Utility Belt, Gadgetry, and Force of Will) are in Tomax, so their numbers are probably in the client, but I doubt there's any animations for them.

... there was so much to look forward to, it still makes me angry and sad, even more than a year later.  We'd probably have all those powersets by now.

luckily since I had the Beta client I got a chance to play around with Martial Assault for Dominators huge fan of the animations paired it with plant control and even messed with the sorcery pool too the later would have been godly on my Time/Sonic/Soul Defender at that point it would have probably supplanted my bots/traps/mu as my most powerful toon
