i was wondering the song everyone else used as battle music? mine was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G6QDNC4jPs (everytime we touch, cascada)
Not so much a song, but I would run Pandora either in the background or on my laptop. Pucifier was (and is) one of my favorite "stations."
Mine was usually boss battle themes from a whole bunch of different games.
I used a few of these:
Mas Tequila
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdMfCNyeGg0
Heavy Metal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xr6KfJOFqk
Behind Blue Eyes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfuWXRZe9yA
Baba O Riley
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhdllX-u89E
Jump
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNy3-6ooMTc
Many more :)
Believe it or not, I always liked the theme from Ladyhawke...it just sounds victorious and heroic to me.
Ladyhawke (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bugi35v1CKk)
For me, No TF AV battle would be complete without The Sentinel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLMuv5dc-rQ)
"Protectors of the Earth" by Two Steps from Hell (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASj81daun5Q) always made me feel awesomely heroic.
One of my semi-regular teammates had also seen Transformers: The Movie (the animated one from the 1980s).
I would always warn him when "The Touch" came up on my MP3 player because that'd be when I was about to do something crazy. :D
Back when I used to farm tickets in AE-- and I know how some of you feel about that, but paying 50K and more for common salvage kinda pissed me off-- I had a playlist I named "FIRE BAAAAAAD" (if you get the reference, you know who the band is). It was mostly stuff from Garage Days Re-Revisited.
Edit: And you know what? That playlist is gonna get a lot more use when we get our game back.
I am not ashamed to say that for various reasons, including in-game RP, my theme for defeating Mot ended up as the Pinkie Pie Smile Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNrXMOSkBas) from My Little Pony.
Sorry Mot, can't despair- listening to ponies.
"Winterborn", by Cruxshadows
"March of Cambreadth", Heather Alexander
"Eye of the Tiger", Survivor
"Dragula", Rob Zombie
"Sweating Bullets", Megadeath
"Bring the Noise", Public Enemy & Anthrax
"Youth Gone Wild", Skid Row
"Post Punk Aggression" - Cut La Roc
"Block Rockin' Beats" - Chemical Brothers
"Slash Dot Dash" - Fatboy Slim
"Back on a Mission" - Cirrus
"Bang On" - Propellerheads
"Go" - Andy Hunter
"Clutch" - Doves
Everyone has their genre for adrenalin. Mine's British Big Beat.

You made milk fly out of my damn nose on that last line. :D Now I gotta clean my LCD.
mmm.....think the game provided enough white noise so that I couldn't hear battle hymns
especially in Mothership Raids RWZ.....omg, it's Sunday and I still anticipate such routines....waaa. :'(
Literally everything I use as "battle music" the average person despises and is quick to label it as screamo after the first 5 seconds lol. But, I'm gonna put a link up just to represent metalheads alike ;D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRUJU1G1VJY&feature=youtube_gdata_player

"Winterborn" was (
IS, darn it!!!) my theme song for my indomitable little WP Tanker, Mirka.
"And in this moment, I will not run,
It is my place to stand.
We few shall carry hope,
Within our bloodied hands."
Dammit...got something in my eye...
"I will give my life for love,
For I am Winterborn
And in my dying,
I'm more alive than I have ever been
I will make this sacrifice,
For I am Winterborn"
yeah, i think that thing-in-eye is contagious....
A little obvious i know, but whenever i joined a group for a mission and had a long way to travel (Read: Atlas Park -> Hollows heh) i sometimes stuck this on.

*Awkward pause*
What? I played on Virtue....
That was a joke. :P
I had a few scores that went through my head on certain characters and in certain situations. Weirdly, they weren't scores that exist out there. They leaped into my head, and stayed there, like theme songs.
It's weird because I'm not a musician and this isn't the sort of thing that ever happened before. Just one more case of City of Heroes giving me extraordinary experiences.
When I actually wanted to hear real music, Pandora was a great tool for tailoring individual characters soundtracks.
In case my avatar didn't clue you in... this was played frequently during boss fights :P

For Wyrdling, the Plant/Dark version on Virtue, i mostly considered https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRd7gOfIS-0 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRd7gOfIS-0) or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6M2ppKwuZY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6M2ppKwuZY) to be her battle/theme songs. (Also Calne Ca (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/calne-ca) is adorable in both videos.)
Navigator FoTa mostly had https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_klLrDycqA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_klLrDycqA) as her song.
In terms of general battle music this song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guNaP2Zb4KU) was a frequent favorite for me.
This is kinda an obvious one, but the Superman Theme by John Williams. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwtpWXmRLtA)
Battle music in a super-heroic way I guess, but I can't help but want to take to the sky.
a few I've played at high volume at times:
I can't drive 55 (Sammy Hagar)
Rapper's Delight (The Sugar Hill Gang)
Fool for the City (Foghat)
any Van Halen song
any Boston song
Flirtin' with Disaster (Molly Hatchet)
several AC/DC songs
Black Betty (Ram Jam) ... many many times, induced much scrapperlock ;D ...
Magic Carpet Ride (Steppenwolf)
I loved the redside heavy metal music so much I saved it and still listen...as far as battle music, Ion by Apocalyptica (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8GdZHDCGxQ) was great for big team battles.
I have an entire villain song playlist that I used to listen to while playing any of my villains. I had the playlist long before I started playing CoH, and I continue to add songs to it. It's up to over 181 songs, but listening to it is a bit melancholy now.
I used to have a hero song playlist, but I lost it when I bought a new computer back in 2009 (which was also before I started playing CoH), so I generally listened to my Battle Theme Playlist (consisting mainly of boss themes from NES and SNES video games).
Most of my battle music was also RP music for me, but all the same...
Dakota Star - Regret (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1WzwxvaOJc)
Dakota Star - It's All About You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaB85e28W0M)
Daiki Kasho - Soul Surfer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4AiAebNFYE)
Babel Nose - Jam's Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjmNbys4NUA)

Shoot to Thrill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCqEkWY8ekQ) definitly.

Oh hell yeah!
Another one I played usually on big battles like League Trials, Hami's, MSR's, etc, was
Airbourne - Runnin' Wild (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2nxqnyM13E).
