Title: Everything Must Go!
Post by: Steelclaw on August 22, 2013, 08:45:16 PM
Premise:

They are dividing up the game world and, as the die-hard few, we get to take what we want as a souvenir.

Rules:

* First come, first served.  Once an item is gone it can not be claimed by someone else.

* Objects only.  You can not take people, this includes sentient robots.  Basically we're talking scenery items.

* Limit: One per customer.  You can only take one object.  Said object can't be comprised of several smaller objects... so no saying "I'll take Atlas Park."

* Doc Aeon has lent us his shrink ray so size is not an issue.

Tell us what you'd take, why and what you'd do with it.

I'll go first.

I'm taking the Atlas Statue.

I will shrink it down and put it in my pocket.  I'm going to smuggle it to New York City, take it to Ellis Island and re-enlarge it so he and Lady Liberty are cuddling close together.

Let them forget the game NOW.

I would take the fire pits on the steps up to City Hall in Atlas.  I would use them to light my back yard (and stand in them to stay warm).  Many times I would log standing the those so they have sentimental value for me.

If'n y'all don't mind, I'd like to take Cap Au Diable home. I loved watching the skies through that silhouette.

The Time Portal in Vernon von Grun and Operative Grillo's lab in Grandville will be mine, thanks.

That way I can plot a scheme to return to a time period prior to CoH's closure, and force NCsoft to sell the IP at channelgun-point.  I may not be able to save the game in our timeline, but at least one parallel history will never have to endure CoH's permanent closure.

I'll take all the Exploration badges. Because I loved to hunt them while listening to my favorite music and enjoying the in-game landscape.

Nemesis' Brass Warpony! (I don't think it's sentient, although you never know when the Canned Ham is involved.)

Other wise, I think I'll hang Mot's Skull on my mantle...

I'll take the big penny behind Blue Steel's spot in the Row. I'll shrink it down so it seats eight people and use it as a gaming table.

(It will probably still have Blue Steel's reflection in it, too. Because even a reflection of Blue Steel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLoUm2SmVFg) can't be defeated.)

By the rules, you cannot take Pocket D.   :P

I want the monkey fight cage, if I can have the monkeys as well.

Otherwise I want one of the portals so i can be a dimensional TRAVELLER.   ;)

Drenched Donuts from Faultline.

Apart from being the location of one of the best badges in the game, it was also the punchline to one of the best machinima made in game.

It was also the center of my favorite zone in the game; the home town of the last character I got to lv 50.

"We're a lot alike, Overbrook. Broken, but not beyond hope."

It might be bending the rules a bit, but I'd take one of the AE buildings and share it with other people who'd create more stories.

If that's not allowed, give me a rocket board. Because it's a rocket board!

I'll take The Hill next to the tram terminal on Talos Island. Y'know, the one where everyone would gather to fight Rikti/Zombie invasions/infestations while turning my computer into a (slow) slideshow factory. :P

I'll plunk it down next to Area 51 (don't tell ME it doesn't really exist!), and sell popcorn, lawn chairs and disposable cameras to the tourists come to watch the inevitable Doomed-To-Fail Alien Invasions. After all, even without heroes, the Home Team always wins.

There's an area in Perez Park, not too far from the boathouse. It's mostly a big hummock of trees and dirt with fractured bridges and hydra roaming. There's fireflies, and ferns. I'd want that.

My first thought was The Big Red Ball, but since I don't think it was ever actually added, I'll take a Shivan Shard instead, but only if I get more than five uses out of it. Something about a loyally obedient giant green blob alien that can be summoned at will seems appealing to me... Especially for those days when you just don't want to deal with people, since they'd all be running away in terror...

I'm not a villain, honest! :P

I am claiming the TUNNEL system (the Trans-Universal Networking Nexus and Extradimensional Link).  I think this qualifies as a single object with tendrils leading to its portals ( ' :

For the first 14 portals (technically there are 19 as some locations had doubles for heroes and villians), I will be placing stops at:

1. Home,
2. Work,
3 & 4. Parents' homes in New York,
5. Nassau Colisseum/Barclay's Center in Brooklyn (home/future of the New York Islanders)
6. Orlando,
7. Las Vegas,
8. San Francisco
9. Oahu
10. Dublin, Ireland
11. Rome, Italy
12. Tokyo, Japan
13.  O'Hare international airport (for access to just about everything else)
14.  NcSoft Headquarters (so I can harass them daily)
15. reserved for future use
16. reserved for future use
17. reserved for future use
18. reserved for future use
19. reserved for future use.

No more traffic for me!

Don't you remember the old destroy the desk mission? The one with the regenerating desk that defenders could not destroy? I remember having to ask a scrapper and blaster to come in and help me. Apparently the Devs made a mistake and gave it 100,000 points instead of 100. I know as a defender while the error was in place I could not complete the mission. It would regenerate faster than I could destroy it. This was in the Issue 2-4 era.

I'll grab up the Rikti Mothership from the warzone, fix it up and then park it permanently over the NCSoft headquarters building a la "Independence Day".  Might even dispatch U'Kon Gr'ai to head down and chat with management...

Sign me up for the Blimp touring around AP.

Countless times I flew up to it trying to hitch a scenic ride around the zone...   ;D

Alas, like many of the game's objects, they never made it so you could stand on it.

I would definitely rectify that dev oversight, and offer scenic tours.

Cheers,

I know my characters each seemed to have their own. (Whether they wanted one or not, really.) So if they all took theirs with them when they came to live with me, then I should have about... 40+ rocket boards kicking around here somewhere. And approximately eighteen bajillion flying discs. Cool.

Hang on a sec, I've got to go check the shed real quick. For... unrelated reasons. I'm totally not looking for my team teleporter flyer, I swear.

The ski slopes and Chalet (as an independent chunk of land, I can't believe these weren't already claimed!)

I live in an area where snow is uncommon. I loved the chalet and slopes for the snow, the sounds, and the winter feel I just don't get here.

While I can't take the Super Speed and Super Jump now, I can take the slopes and chalet area ;)

I would like to perform a nuclear bomb test in that little slice of heaven.

They told me I was wrong...

"It's the joy of community" they said... "The bliss of joining with others over a common love or admiration is what gets threads past their third or even fourth pages..."

Thank you for proving me right.

Nothing sells like unadulterated greed.
I made my choice in order to give back.  And I'm a villain.

Harrumph.

Particularly if it's the AoE version from the original temp power, before the two-minute Hami raid.

Base with Editing program. Unlimited Influence for the perfect build would be bonus.

I miss my bases.

Don't know if this has been said yet, but I'd want Cimerora.  It was one of my favorite places--and if I couldn't have that, I'd take the Sibyl Temple with Solaris and Airlia. One of my all time favorite zones. I suppose I'd need the Ouro crystal to get me there...

But I wouldn't mind either the hero base or villain base either... I miss them. :(

.....uh-oh.

I might have kinda, sorta, already resin-coated the coin's surface and drilled the holes for the table legs. And slightly engraved "Triplash was here" and "Mine now, sucker!" into the edges.   >.>

But I'm sure nobody will notice. *whistle*

Don't look at me and my new crystal, I've had enough hot weather this week already.  Unless you think you could help me pocket some of Airlia's jewelery, in which case let me invite you to my team.

If I recall correctly, Codewalker said he's working on getting Icon to load bases but it might be a while.

The nice thing about what I stole legitimately acquired through completely honest means?  I can go back in time before I stole acquired it through completely honest means, and steal acquire it again.  So... sure.  I'll return the original.

After I've stolen acquired as many copies as I desire.

In other news, bite my Impervium-plated rump, causality! Gya, ha, ha, ha, ha!

M1 statue from Galaxy City.  Patron saint of tankers would look perfect out by the pool.

Dammit U-mann, I was sitting on that statue, too.    Fine. Now I'll have to think of something else.  I kinda want to take a portal from Portal Corp., or maybe even the Giant Robot under Striga Island, but I guess I'll take the wall near the IP gate in King's Row because it must be the strongest wall ever to hold up so many Tanks for 8 years.
