Title: Stupid avoidable bugs
Post by: Kaiser Tarantula on August 16, 2013, 05:31:58 PM
Well, I just had my day on Champions ruined.  Had to delete a character because that character could no longer complete the Westside storyline.

Anyone remember Quan Qi, Lin Qi's martial artist sister who you have to escort?  Well, I was in a team, and was about to turn in the mission to rescue her, when my teammate starts the escort part of the mission.  So I figure, "well heck, I'll just turn in the first part after I finish the escort, right?"

Wrong.  Once you do the escort, Quan Qi will never, ever give you the option to talk to her again, even after she respawns and you re-rescue her from the Red Dragons.  Furthermore, apparently The Quandary of Quan Qi is one of those missions the rest of the Westside storyline depends on.  I reached a point where I could no longer continue.

So there went a promising character of mine, all because of a stupid bug that should have been fixed a long time ago, and could've been avoided if my teammate hadn't been so frickin' jumpy about accepting quests.

hmm never had that happened before.

I restarted that mission a couple of times, although never tried it on a team. One time I got hung up on some side mobs and she kept walking and got to the end point and I had to wait for her to re-spawn and then talk to her again to get the mission.

Another time, I made the dumb noob move of going AFK while escorting. Another fail. And had to restart.

But that situation you had sucks and shouldn't happen to anyone. A bug like that should be fixed asap, especially one that is a key to the story arc. That info is good to know because now I know to not try that mission with jumpy team mates.

I dunno what I did but I've fouled up half the mishes in Canada with my noob. Glowies won't glow... And that mish where you destroy the satellites? Someone was nice enough to join my team and shoot them down for me because I couldn't target them no matter what I did - including dropping the mish, exiting, and picking it back up again.

Sorry about your toon!

Yeah, team seems to screw the pooch on a lot of game mechanics in CO. I teamed in the tutorial, and it declared that I had not completed it. (this was before the "fail to complete" bug. not a huge thing, but that's stupid, to have a fundamental flaw right out of the gate. not like you can go BACK to the tutorial to rerun it once you leave.

I had this happen to me, as well.  You have to play the tutorial solo, because otherwise Homestead Security doesn't properly complete.  It's blitheringly stupid, and there's no way to anticipate it until you've ran into it before.

That one's cost me a character too.

Seriously, CO's been out over half a decade now, you'd think they'd have at least gotten the 1-15 newbie stuff right.

I had this happen when I was teaming with my son, but it completed for him. I never gave it any thought, because it didn't prevent me progressing to RenCen. I just dropped the mission when I realized I still had it. I think I deleted the character for a different reason, though.
