Title: Extracted Sound Effects (OGG)
Post by: Arachnion on July 15, 2013, 12:02:06 AM
Hello.

This is a SFX rip thread.

EDIT: There will (likely soon) be more SFX available in the music thread as MP3 here (http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/topic,7192.0.html), credit to Ashen Fury for converting them when they are available.

The sounds below are from Enemy Groups and Player Powers. These aren't all of them.. still a good amount.

I recommend using http://www.foobar2000.org/ to play them, it's safe, free, and easy to use (IMO).

Foobar only seems to support Windows, however.

If your OS is different, I'd see about looking for a nice alternative, one that plays .ogg files.

UI sounds ripped below.

Archetype selection, Origin noises, etc.

You can install the official Xiph.org DirectShow filters on Windows, which gives support for Ogg Vorbis and some other formats to programs like Windows Media Player.

http://xiph.org/dshow/

Any Linux media player will support Ogg, and most web browsers that aren't Internet Explorer or Safari will play them as well.

VLC plays everything™ (http://www.videolan.org/) on Windows, similar to how mplayer plays everything on Linux. No need to mess around with finding or installing codecs. Free and open source, and no adware in the installer.

Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) also supports ogg natively I believe, which is useful for editing and mixing audio.

VLC plays everything™ on Linux too. (-:

Beaten, twice!  I swear by VLC.  That said, my iPhone can't play ogg files, so I was glad for the MP3 conversions-- this (http://paragonwiki.com/w/images//a/a4/RiktiWarZone_TheCrashSite.ogg) can be my ringtone now.

Yeah, any program that can convert OGG to MP3 should work fine for these.

That and online converters too, but those are usually single file at a time deals, as well as somewhat shady (IMO).

Sorry about the oggs here not being converted, there are quite a lot of them and I do not have a good batch audio converter.

Sure.

I found more and put it all together in one rar, it's about 121 MB unpacked, 115 mb or so packed.

I haven't gotten around to uploading it anywhere yet.

Once I get that up you can mix the contents with the music.

Sounds good. My weekend is fairly free, so I should be able to get it started tomorrow.

I gave Ashen about 800 or so more files, they're going to be converted to MP3 and put in the music pack thread.

:D

okay, so all the converting and repackaging is done, i just need a new place to host the file, as its become too large for gamefront(the full compilation file is close to 1gb), and gamefront is constantly deleting the file anyway. does anyone know of a reliable hosting site?

If it's less than 40GBs, I can put it in my SpiderOak space.

Dropbox, sugar sync, google drive, skydrive should all hold them unless there's a lot more traffic than expected.
