what did you make?
I made an energy / energy blaster called Radiation Dude - which was a complete rip visually of the Simpson's Radioactive Man.
I think I got him to level 8 or 10 or something and then deleted him.
In fact the first the 3 or 4 toons I made I deleted since I didn't like them much. Like my MA/SR scrapper - back when MA sucked.
Of course this was back in May 2004 - a lot of things have changed since then.
My first was Psifire a mutant Force Field/Psionic Blast Defender. While my first he probably took the longest to get to 50... and was the last 50 I ever achieved I believe. My Illusion/Radiation controller quickly over took him and she became my main.
I immediately created two characters
tank-Luftballon
inv/ss
The other
MA/SR scrapper-Schlagendes
Both 50 shortly after i7 but Schlagendes got deleted by i8, due to issues with SR. It would not be until i13 period before another SR is made.
Luftballon lived until the end and joined the other 98 luftballons and all 99 went into the sky with Nena singing. Gold Finger was in attendence. (in storyline).

I think I got him to level 8 or 10 or something and then deleted him.
I also went energy / energy blaster with Fusion Girl, a teenager who gained her powers following a mishap with a tanning bed. Like Doc, I leveled her for a while then hit delete...perhaps the start of my incurable altitis.
I made a burly pirate named Jolly Rodger, Broad Sword/Super Reflexes Scrapper. Got him to level 8 before I started a new character on the server my friends were on (didn't know which server they were playing on when I rolled him and since the patch got done in the wee hours it's not like an IM/e-mail would get answered right away).
This new character was Agent Kei, modeled after Kei of the Dirty Pair (my friends were all anime buffs) and she too was a Scrapper (our foursome needed a Scrapper) but Martial Arts/Super Reflexes. A few days later I made my namesake, an Ice/Ice Tank. Then a couple of days after that, Issue 2 happened.
Stupid floating eyeballs with teeth.
A claws /regen scrapper named TomCat. But the first night I made about 6 different characters . Altitsis struck early and often with me.
Elec/Elec/Elec (later Mu) Blaster named BluePulse (lack of space deliberate), loosely based on one of my old text-based roleplay characters.
I never deleted him, but I didn't get him to 50 until only a couple of days before the game closed.
(If the game came back but I had to start my characters over, I'd probably remake him either as a MA/Elec/Mu Scrapper or an Elec/Martial/Elec Blaster instead, both of which are closer to the old RP version)
Claws/Regen scrapper, Crimson Nomad. Didn't... really hit it off. Made Ruby Dawn, Mind/Emp 'Troller, and that was it, my main until CoV happened.
El Habenero. Fire/fire tank. It was on a friend's account, and it was probably a year on my own account before I rebuilt him. When the lights went out, he was still in the low 20s. My global was Commander Boxershorts, tho. I wish I had a screeny for him, but I'll let your imaginations run with that one. Think Captain Underpants meets Sloth from The Goonies.
My superpowered self :P
CirCus MaxxiMus...He was an Electric/Fire Blaster, and everyone made sure to remind me that I had selected the worst blaster combo in the game. I had SO much fun with him though, and up until shut down, he was still played every day. And I miss him even now... :'(
My first was an electric/ice blaster called "The Blue Egyptian". She never made it to level 50 but she did survive until the end of the game.
My second character, Ms Blue Eyes, was an invulnerable/energy melee tank. She was my main hero.
The very first character I ever created was a Dark Melee / Regen scrapper. After reading the descriptions those were the choices that seemd best suited to playing solo. Because back then I was still quiet and shy, and based on my recent experiences in WoW, "I don't want to spend time around the kind of knobs that play MMOs anyway". (Irony much? Hehe)
The costume I made was terrible. It was too dark, too bland, and I hadn't yet figured out that you could unlink the colors and use more than just two. Yikes. Sometime later a random passerby called me "Grape Girl", and I kinda got the hint it was time for a makeover.....
Also, sadly, the name I wanted was taken. And the second one, and the third and fourth. Finally I said "aww pancake it" and just pulled a random name out of my - umm, out of the air. "Triplash". As I said it out loud a few times, the name sounded... well it sounded stupid, really. But I was like, come ON, just start it already! Surprise surprise, a random made-up word wasn't taken, so away I went into Outbreak. (Side note: it took me a year and a half, plus returning after a couple months break, to finally like that name. Love it now though.)
I did everything wrong. I barely made enough inf to keep myself in SOs, I slotted Brawl and Sprint, I picked terrible powers because they sounded like fun, I grinded my entire 30s levels against green- and blue-con enemies because I was so newb it hurt, and at long last I finally dinged 50 with a hot mess of random enhancements that a level 40 would be ashamed to still be using.
.......And it was a BLAST!!! I'd do it all again in a heartbeat! ;D
First guy I made was also an Energy/Energy Blaster. Did multiple runs in PP (2004) and deleted him several times as I played with travel powers etc. Finally got it right and my signature hero Energy Aura, (yes they named a set after me too) was born.
Second was a Empathy/Energy Defender. Those were some leveling days for that one. Healers were the rage in the early days. She made it to 50 before my main...Sad but true...
Maiden Canada, a classic Inv/ SS Tanker. I wanted a Superman-like character, but then decided I liked the concept of a girl in her early teens with that kind of power, who villains would underestimate upon looking at her, only o be surprised when she'd easily kick their butts.
She was my first and in many ways my best character. She was the last one I played, just as the servers were shut down.
Sigh.
My first character was an Elec/Elec Blaster. He never got past Kings Row because it was there that I saw an Energy Blaster. Of course at that time, I had no idea how both powerset compared to each other. However, Energy blasts' effects were way more powerful looking and sounding. Pshoosh...BAM! Knockback! :D While Electric was a lame Pzzst...Orgasmic shiver! :P I slept on it and then made an Energy/Dev the next day. The Elec/Elec hung around on the shelf for a couple of months before I delete him.
To this day, I have found almost every Electric type powerset's offensive powers to be aurally disappointing. Electric Melee's Lightning Rod is the only exception.
A Fire/Fire Tanker named Magma Maid just after Beta. I think I got her to about 6 before altitis set in.... I eventually did get a Fire/Fire Tank to 50 as part of a Burn Tanker project, about six months before shut-down, but I never really (ahem) warmed to it.
My first character was in CoV, Der Zilla, a claws/SR stalker. I wasn't terribly fond of the game until I found out there was a Heroes version of it, and my first hero was Aggelakis! Empathy/archery defender, instantly my main and probably the best version of her I've played in any game. (she's a staple character that gets rolled in any game I play, no matter the format or genre, as some sort of "support" style)
My first character was an ice/ice Dominator named Frozen Chains (because I liked using the chain-wrap boots, gloves, etc., and I couldn't think of anything at the time). I joined shortly after the CoV launch, so this was before Domination was upgraded.
She got deleted fairly quickly once I discovered Corruptors, but I always wanted to find a Dom that I liked because of her.
Oddly enough, I HAD a couple Doms in progress that might've been a Good Fit for Me when NCsoft pulled the plug. >:(
My namesake; but there's a funny story there.
My account was actually in my son's name. He was 13 or so at the time, and wanted to play with a friend of his that had just gotten the game himself (It had just came out). He worked out extra chores for his allowance to cover it and he played for a few weeks and being a fan of super heroes and comic books, he told me I would love this game.
I wanted nothing to do with 'online games' or MMO's or anything else. I saw them as a way to take your money for something you didn't even own, and designed to waste your life away (I lost friends to 'Evercrack' in at the least a figurative sense and saw one divorce due to the effects of 'online' gaming and addictiveness at that point). I let my son play because I knew he would at least be monitored and allowed limited online time, in addition to his previously mentioned 'earned' ability to do so.
Well his interest waned for scheduling reasons (going out to play and actually interacting with others- which we encouraged) and his friend that actually started playing got involved in another game (WoW at launch- both of them played Warcraft). My son insisted I'd like this game though, and wanted me to try it.
Now, I'm a fan of werewolf films, literature (older myth and legends-compared to the stuff out there today). One of my favorites was originally the tale of the Bisclavret, a werewolf who was a hero regardless of his circumstances and Theiss of Keltenbrun who proclaimed to be a hero from the start. So just to get him off my case, I asked him "Fine. Could I play a werewolf?" and he said "There's nothing that says you can't, and the costume creator probably can pull off something close..." So I decided the 'best' hero I could make was one who could... should... be something evil and chose otherwise against all odds... (what, it was '04 and 'anti-heroes' were seeing a bit of a revival)
And so I made my namesake. Claws/Invul scrapper (because I didn't want to Wolverine out and get Regen. and figure Invul. made sense since nothing could hurt me but sliver bullets, right?- by the way, I never regretted that decision) I did it to humor him, to be honest, but found I actually enjoyed it. Not in the crazy kind of way that made me give up my life, but I had fun.
I soloed because I didn't want to get involved in the social aspects at first, but eventually met a few other people in my age range that I got along with. Through them I got into an SG (URA it was called- never knew what that stood for) and due to some kind of drama or another (that I ignored the hell out of to be honest, because I didn't know the people involved) a few of us and friends broke away and made the SG we still have today after Paragon's close. It, too, is not without its drama and stories but we shrugged a lot of that off and stuck together while the dramatic personae and others drifted off (or stuck through it) to form our SG and friends today.
City of never has 'dominated' my life. I have friends and family that always comes first, but I made strong friendships that have lasted over 8 years now and still grace my life with their existence but for the grace of the internet. Through moves, military deployments, job changes, and life changes, we've seen a lot. Most of it by avoiding the drama and accepting that we're a group of folks to just hang out with where you don't have to bring it, but we'll listen if you just have to, from time to time. Just don't be upset if we think it's stupid, and tell you ;)
It became an important, and relevant, part of my (our group's) lives. One I'm glad I've continued to have the pleasure of being a part of.
So, Lycantropus isn't the most creative character (just made the name up off the top of my head at the time) nor was it my most powerful (though he was close). It was my first, the one everyone calls me by (Lyc, for short) even to this day even when it wasn't the main character I played in teams with early on... It carried enough of me with it to make it connect that to me, I suppose.
Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Thanks for the topic!
Lyc~ the historic werewolf
My very first was a spines/regen scrapper by the name of Kalihma, on Victory. At the time I just picked a name from thin air that I thought sounded cool - it wasn't until some 25 levels later when some guy started quoting Indiana Jones at me while I was standing in Wentworths that I realised where my subconscious pulled that name from.
She was my first 50, too, though I never got around to getting incarnate stuff or a proper IO build for her.
1) Claws / Regen scrapper called Extant. He had bug eyes and long long antannae. Gold colouring that shaded into black from his chest up.
The backstory had to do with finding a mystic scarab which linked him to the ancient Egyptian God Khepri. In Egyptian mythology, the scarab beetle rolls balls of dung across the ground, an act that the Egyptians saw as a symbol of the forces that move the sun across the sky. Khepri was thus a solar deity. Young dung beetles, having been laid as eggs within the dung ball, emerge from it fully formed. Therefore, Khepri also represented creation and rebirth, and he was specifically connected with the rising sun and the mythical creation of the world. The Egyptian connected his name with the Egyptian language verb kheper, meaning "develop" or "come into being".
2) Illusion / Forcefield troller called Lightsmith. He belonged to an intergalactic soiety of lghtsmiths that used their abilities to create light structures to police the universe. Pretty ool guy that I genuinely only belatedly realised was my version of a Green Lantern!
Hmm...First time I had a chance to try, I believe I made a Dark/regen scrapper named Kuroi Yuuki, or something like that.
When I finally had my own account, I made a Fire/Something scrapper named L'thes, who got deleted the moment I saw you could have bows.
Alt-itis hadn't struck me too hard yet.
Hercules
Inv/SS Tanker.
I had just gotten into preorder beta, and the TV series "Hercules - The Legendary Journeys" was still very popular.
Even though it was still beta, I was very surprised the name wasnt taken by the earlier beta testers.
That was the name I reserved on Freedom for when the game went live.
My name here, my global, my main (on Pinnacle.....didn't even start on another server till post-CoV)
AR/Dev blaster, loosely inspired by Julie Brown's "Homecoming Queen's Got A Gun" Ton of fun, first 50, incarnated T4 everything...i hit 50 before ED with her....had so many powers 6-slotted with hami-Os, I never respecced. EVER. Did respec trials, sure. Bounced a few SGs, ended up Carl and Sons.
My first was Deathsong a Sound/Sound Corruptor
I had Howler from the Champions RPG Rulebook in Mind, but i didnt find the right powers. In Champions RPG you can start complete with Forcefield, Energy Blast and Flight.
She didnt get deletetd. but stopped at around 15, when I had trouble killing anything.
That was when Lydia was born.
I reactivated her at the last few weeks before Closure. but didnt get her to 50.
Lydia Frost MM
Indigo Fey, my avatar on this site, apparently the name was taken so went with next lvl hero OzonePrime, for my name here. She's a katanna melee/super reflex mutant scrapper. Miss playing her the most!
Also, the alt I spent "the last day" with on Guardian. Have 12 hours of screenshots from Atlas Park on that day, up to 3 seconds before server blackout. Watch that slideshow often! Lots of fellow Guardianites in shots. Great memories!
First time I logged in, right before I3, was my main character throughout the life of CoX, an Empathy/Electric Defender. My first level 50, and still my most active character by the time of the shutdown. It was also the character that cemented my enjoyment of playing Defenders in general. I had never played an MMO before, so I didn't know anything about the idea of "having to be a healer". Not knowing what I was doing ended up making me play my Defender more like a blaster who happened to also be able to heal and buff.
Infernus Hades, a Fire/Fire blaster. I played him for a very long time and would delete him and rebuild him as the years went by.
I have to say I loved the challenge of being a blaster the most in the game.
Very first character? That would have been a very short lived toon named PaganBlast. I know his primary was Energy...can't recall his secondary. Very poorly thought out (hey, I had no clue what I was doing at the time LOL).
Nebularian was my second attempt. An Energy/Energy blaster. Originally created on the Champion Server, but did not reach 50 until I moved him to Virtue...much later. In fact, he was one of only two male toons that I ever got to 50.
I sorta felt silly the first time I made a female toon. But then learned that I could get into the character better (probably because I spent so long writing fan-fiction about female characters.)
My first female toon was Nurse DarkLight.....and Emp/Dark Def that turned out to be my first 50.
<------- (minus the "07" bit, and later became "Knight'Hawk" when I moved to Freedom)
MA/SR Scrapper. That's not his original costume, though. Originally, he had the full Justice set except the gloves were just shiny/spikes, and had a domino mask. It changed a bit more over the years.
HotFlash...........I fire/fire blaster............He was my main from day 1 till the end......I hope to see him again one day
Matchstick Man, I think was the very first. I didn't keep with him for very long cause I was like slotting rest a lot... but he was the first. Fire/Fire scrapper, I believe.
Sajaana was my first character: a villain, since I received City of Villains first. I was on Triumph first (2005) and was an energy/kinetics corruptor. I eventually migrated away from Triumph to Freedom, and from Freedom I went to Virtue, which became my permanent home.
I also created a Sajaana on Freedom about 2010 or so. Same type of character.
I later created a hero Sajaana on Virtue the year of the shutdown, when we could create villain ATs on the Blueside.
Lightslinger, my forum name, global and main character was actually my first hero. I'd joined CoH during Issue 2 or 3 I think, but all I did was make some silly character and try the game out. I only played for a couple of days, it didn't really click.
Then during my hiatus I got inspired by the Gunslinger from The Dark Tower books, decided to roll up a superhero named "Lightslinger", planned the look out and resubbed to CoH during Issue 7. Lightslinger was an Energy/Energy Blaster on the Victory server, eventually moved to Virtue and was there for the last 10 or so Issues.
(sorry the graphics kinda suck, using Icon on an older comp of mine today)
This is Lightslinger's first look:
LS got a cape and aura as soon as possible, completing the "classic" look:
Some minor updates, new pant stripe, darker blue, starburst aura.
The big update done around Issue 20, this was his "main" costume until the lights went out:
My first was Amethystine Invul/mace tank, made early July 04 on Triumph, got to level 6, realised my RL friends were on Freedom, toon was level 8 at shutdown.
My next few toons all made 50 on Freedom:
Mr Minotaur - Stone/axe tank
Ms Blizzard - Ice/storm troller
TheoPWildebeest - nrg/nrg blaster
Psycho clown - Ill/kin troller
Pleasure demon - Fire/FF troller
my first...
A faceless, striped dark purple/dark blue Gravity/FF Tech-Origin Controller, named Kinetos
After running (or sliding to be precise) around a bit I was given a few thousand inf 'cause another player liked my costume so much ;D
My first was an En/En blaster named Gearloose. His costume was "inspired" by Iron Man's stealth suit. I never deleted him but due to altitis he never reached 50 (I think he reached level 34).
My very first character was also an EN/EM Blaster. I gave him the catchy name of Ace Cobalt.....
I took him to mid teens and then to 50 several years later.

My first toon was a claw/sr scrapper named Alpha Ferret. It took me almost a year to get him to 50. I had no alts at the time. Once he hit 50, I almost quit the game to go to wow. I am so glad I stayed in Paragon City.
My first was Pakfront, an AR/EM/Mun Blaster; that's her in my icon. Her costume designs evolved as more 'tech' armor pieces were added to the game, culminating in one that was mostly the Mecha set. As soon as power customization was available, I switched from the 'dial-a-gun' to the long-barrel sniper rifle, and from there to the Vanguard Redding Rifle as soon as I unlocked it, and have stuck with that since then.
Over the years, I worked on tricking out the character as an attempt to prove Statesman's claim that 'Range is a Blaster's defense', and with Boost Range and the various range bonuses from IO sets, I wound up with an entertaining playstyle; Full Auto had a range comparable to an out-of-the-box snipe and Flamethrower was close. It made leveling interesting in Peregrine Island, back when you would routinely see ten- or twelve-mob spawns of Nemesis -- she could run up to the spawn with Stealth on, hit Boost Range, Build Up, uncork Full Auto, then Flamethrower to crisp up the survivors... and then Rest to recover the roughly half her HP she'd lose from return fire while she was standing there. Playing Snipe Warrior was entertaining, too; with Boost Range, it was possible to snipe a mob and have them just stand there wondering why they were bleeding; it wasn't until the second shot that they would take off running as the server tried to find a path to get them in range of me -- or, more often, just trying to run away.
She was the character I chose to close the game out on, joining my fellow Guardianites on a Rikti mothershpi raid, not letting the pronouncement stop us from continuing to fight as if the game was going to continue forever; she was standing in the center of the bowl spraying fire at the rim when the game locked up at shutdown (too many effects going on for a genteel 'disconnected from server'). I have a screenshot that is timestamped a second after midnight, and it's hard to make out anyone under the glare of power effects.

That is one of my favorite songs! Too bad it's taboo nowadays.
The first char I made was named "MindDrop" he was a Psy/Storm Troller. I deleted him before he made it to level 20 If I recall correctly. Don't remember my 2ed or third.
Healix was my very first, and started out as a sort of joke. She was short, from the planet 'Alpha Seltzer' (healer) and wore that goofy cone hat. She became powerful and accomplished, and I am more fond of her than words can express.
Made my namesake of course (Shenku, Claws/SR Scrapper in the early days of Issue 0-1ish), though Shenku's appearance evolved a lot since he was first created, but his root origin remained mostly the same...
Skip this next lengthy paragraph if you don't care about his Back-story/history! :P
He was originally a simple "Half-Dragon" when I first came up with the concept (he looks human, but has pointy ears and fangs, can transform into a "dragon-form"), though the idea eventually evolved into a wholly distinct race of its own and was partially incorporated into my first book, The Fall of Var. I had been working on ideas for the book for ages, along with toying with the concept of having Shenku appear in a short comic series, but the comic fell off the table, and the book ended up taking priority, despite being more of a prequel to "current" events in that world (Taking place approximately 20 years {N.A. 1312} before Shenku first stepped foot in Paragon City from a portal in the year N.A. 1332, or using Primal Earth's calender it was the year of 2004...)... With the comic scrapped, I'm probably going to just write it out as a normal book once I finish parts 2 and 3 of the Prequel series (The Black Dawn Wars), of which Shenku makes several appearances, only a brief appearance of which in the first book...
You can start reading again here if you skipped the above paragraph! ;)
Anyways, I went with Claws/SR because it seemed the closest to what the character was suppose to be, and I shortly after fell in love with the two sets.
Since then, I've always had a scrapper mentality to fights in any game, regardless of what I'm playing as... Which of course is much to the disdain of my friends when we're playing DCUO and I'm "blappering" with my Mental Controller instead of attacking from range with the healer... My Mental Controller is basically a Scrapper at heart with how I play her...
Novapulse of course was my first. Originally Eng/Eng Blaster I deleted him at LV18 because he died so often I just assumed I did something terribly wrong building him. This proved to be a small annoyance when I started badging as I lost his 1st anniversary badge in the remake.
Recreated as an Eng/Ele Blaster which had both a ranged hold and secondary powers I was happy to ignore allowing me to play a more comfortable ranged-only build. 770 hours later and I had my first 50 and I played him regularly until they powered down the servers.
Seeing a trend here...
I'm thinking when the servers come back up we should run an all Energy/Energy Blaster TF...
Cheers
Way back during the headstart of CoH, I made an Ice/SS tank named Glacia.
Scrapper, Katana/Dark Armor. She was to be my favorite to play for years to come.
Ohmega Man, an elec/elec blaster which I still played occasionally right until the end. I was looking forward to the I24 changes to blasters :(
http://cit.cohtitan.com/character/975
Given a trial code and downloaded.
Made my main, an Arrow/Fire Blaster, Lord Apollon.
I was in beta and at launch.
My first character was Battlehawk a INV/EM tanker. But I do remember it was a hectic time because I wanted to acquire lots of names so although Battlehawk was my first, there were two other characters I made right after:
HAWC - energy/energy blaster
Raveness - dark/dark defender who I rerolled as ill/rad controller.

what did you make?
While i'd followed development early on my attention had wandered before the first beta, so i didn't really look at CoH again until shortly before launch. i picked up the boxed game in May 2004.
The first character i made was a MA/SR Scrapper named Seiben (inspired by the Tuned Series androids, particularly Sechs, from the Last Order manga) on Victory server. At the server shutdown Seiben had reached level 42 and i had over two dozen level 50 alts. i probably would've hit 50 a long time ago, but i didn't play on Victory much after 2004, and the last several years i focused far more on buff/debuff ATs.
Now, if the game ever comes back up or one of the successors makes it live i will finish Seiben's journey.
Airhammer. NRG/NRG Blaster as a tribute to a great PnP toon with the same name.

Way back during the headstart of CoH, I made an Ice/SS tank named Glacia.
I loved Ice/SS. Capt. Frostbite was my first to reach level 50.
The first hero I ever made was I believe and Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster named General Teknos. I didn't quite have the costume generator down at the time so every part of his costume was red and blue. I don't have any pictures of his but I remember him having ridiculous flame pants and a red/blue goatee. I think I either only got him out of Outbreak or to level 6 before deleting him.
The first hero I ever made that I stuck with was my Dark Melee/Regen Scrapper named Lythos. In his first incarnation he was named Lychos which I believe was the name of an internet hosting service, not fitting of a night elf. Lychos got to level 6 before I deleted him and rerolled as Lythos, who I played to level 50 and had until the servers shut down.
My first was an energy/energy blaster called Blue Supernova and he was the toon I rode out the end of CoH with, even though after discovering how much fun Scrappers were, I didn't play him much anymore. He was mant to be a complete rip of DC's The Ray.
In Dec 2004, my first toon was an elec/fire blaster on Justice named E'lan.
It took me about a year to make her my first level 50.
Spring 2005, I started her twin sister, Re'lan on Victory which became my main server.

Funny enough, my
second character ever was an energy/energy blaster. She was also my second highest leveled, and second most cared about, character of all of them. She and I have had a lot of fun over the years decorating streetlights and trees with strings of hellions.
There's just something really cool about using bursts of raw energy to knock thugs back on their keisters. I'll admit, when I was on a melee character I hated when someone would use knockback. It's hard to land a punch on someone who's being tossed around like a frisbee. But I never complained about it, because once I
tried knockabck I knew exactly how useful and fun it was.
My first toon was an Ice/Ice blaster named Tahliah. I liked her a lot and played her all the way to 50, but I thought I could do better. For some reason--maybe I didn't know about respecs or something?--I made another ice/ice blaster (who became my main and my badger). I kept that first toon, though, all the way to the very end; I remember being so thrilled when I completed her first (and mine) ITF and got the Roman gear. She stayed in that costume until the end. Sigh.
In fact, some of my favorite early memories of COH happened on that toon. Met some great people, had so much fun running tfs, flying around, trying to figure out where everything was and how to get there, enjoying the heck out of Frostfire mish in the Hollows . . . . I remember getting aggravated in The Hollows when no sooner had she run all the way to some mish door -- on the other side of the map, naturally--than she'd be one-shotted by some red or purple Lost (she didn't have travel yet, and there was no way around it at that time--few teammates had tp, no "taxis" were set up, and there was no hoverboard, etc.).
Anyway, good times.
First Character (& first 50):
Panthera Knight
He was based off a character I created 15 years previously: a half human, half cat warrior, and the closest thing I've seen in comics that could represent him was the character of Tygrus in the Batman: the Animated Series episode: Tyger Tyger. Panthera was a claws/sr scrapper with super-speed and stealth, which was a wonderful combination for a first character: I was able to learn the city streets in relative safety, and anything that did see me usually missed their attack thanks to SR. I learned the entire game though him I created him back in issue 3 so I get to experience the game before ED and the GDN, which soured me to the game afterwards feeling far less super. He was the only character I switched sides with and, before I went back to being a hero, he was the only character with whom I completed the Lord Recluse storyline. He was an awesome powerhouse / speed demon that ruined me for every other character since. I un-mained him ironically after I was able to finally complete his costume with the beast costume pack and give him that cat head I wished I had years before. (I used various costume pieces to hide his face before the cat head existed). I think I un-mained him because I changed over time to the point I wanted to play myself, but in superhero form. That being said I still began the incarnate process with him and made sure to log back into him on the last day where I left him, in his original starting zone standing guard in Galaxy City (which still existed sans Back Alley Brawler) So I walked Panthera to the trainer pedestal to take over, there has to be a trainer in every zone right, including a dead one :) I took several screenshots that last day and almost cried when I said goodbye to my friend.
Second character (& second 50):
Prime Knight
He was also based of a character I created 15 years previously, and he was also the character I basically purchased City of Heroes for: I wanted a character I could fly around a city with. He started off as what I wanted or wished jedi were capable off. I searched the forums trying to find the best fit for a jedi-ish telekinetic telepath with flight, that was something different from my claws/sr scrapper. And I ended up with a mind/kin controller. He started off troubled at first as I had to basically relearn how to play the game with this completely new at/character, but got into a groove with him. A whole new city opened up to me with all these new ways to tackle the same problems. And even the flight vs superspeed literally opened the skies to me, and I saw the city from a new perspective. Prime was the only other character I created that was in the same speed league as Panthera thanks to siphon speed, which also doubled as the perfect power to make hover as fast as fly. Prime began to really shine in the level 30s+ and confuse/mass confuse became his all star powers. Around the time ED and the GDN hit, the dev's also nerfed area confuses basically halving the hold duration and doubling the recharge time, so I took hasten as his very next power. (Thankfully mass hypnosis and mass confusion were spared total domination's fate) Prime was my second main until I un-mained Panthera when I started to think of Prime as me, but with superpowers and he really began to shine. I soon came to realize how super powered my controller could be and once I started him down his IO'ed incarnate path he became: Legen; wait for it:
dary. He really did become a god next to all the other heroes I previously played as. Prime is shown in my avatar image with this dog giving everyone a bow. That's right, I'm crazy enough to mess with the screenshots and character animations to catch a perfectly timed dual bow.
Panthera and Prime both had every anniversary badge sans the six year badge during the time when my main computer had died. They're both dearly missed.
Thanks to Codewalker, Icon has given them both new life to some degree and every time I feel like checking out the city again, I recreate Prime and fly around his old home.
Long Shock..........Electric/Electric Blaster. I learned to embrace the sapping lifestyle on the guy. He became my first 50 a little over a year later. I didn't team much when I first started, so it took a little while, plus a mild case of altitis delayed the penultimate level. He ended up as a 50 +3.
My first Hero and 50... Kinetagirl Fire/Kin Controller. Always had the most fun on that Character, she was just so fast at the end I almost had problems controlling her at times. Stess the almost :)
My first hero was a stone/stone tank -- Ochre Rook (http://r0k.us/rock/games/CoH/HallsOfHeroes/Infinity/OchreRook.html). I named him after an earlier character (villain) in Ultima Online, Ochre Muerte. OM was an evil necromancer, so I did not want to use the name in its entirety. The "Rook" occurred in the character creator, when the rook symbol was used as his chest emblem.
A really neat thing was how his ochre costume ended up matching with the stone and brimstone armors. I had no idea what those things would look like, and when he had leveled up enough to get them, it was like, "wow!".
Stone/SS Tank. Found this to be a bad combination and he just looked like a fat kid fighting on the playground. ??? Made level 10 then made my first 50 MindBlender Emp/sonic defender.
Voss, my Energy/Energy blaster. I wanted the name Powerbolt (taken), Powerblast (taken) and then I gave up and went for something safe. I shot a few things in Atlas park to hit level 6 then I got hover. That was me. Sold. (Even though I did think it was extremely slow)
Then I joined a Perez street-sweeping team and remember the xp bar just filling and filling. It was so awesome being on a team. After slotting my main attacks for Acc/Dam/End/Rech, I was left wondering why anyone would slot more than 4 slots in a power until someone said I could have more than one of a single enhancement type. I quit the team intending to go back to the trainer and get 1Acc, 3Dam for my four slots then realised I was lost in the park. Lots of high level CoT, me - a blaster. No roof to hover through, no Vidiot Map overlay. I think it took me almost 2 hours to stealth and carefully pick my way out. Never been so grateful to see that blue sky over Perez. (The thought of "hosping" out never occurred to me)
Voss got remade as Powerslinger shortly thereafter (never got used to the name) and enjoyed many years in CoX. Incarnate, purpled out, almost soft-capped for Ranged/Smashing/Lethal. She was awesome. Finally, in August last year, I scooped one of the Kirby auras in the giveaway on the forums. It was after walking out of Icon with my new costume replete with aura that I saw the broadcast messages. No more Cox. Such a sad day. She was there at the beginning, and she was there at the end. I went back to Perez to take it out on some CoT for old times sake.
Sword of Albion, a Broadsword/Regen Scrapper.
Funny thing was, I didn't make him on my account...
This was in 2004, not long after CoH came out. I live in England, and an American friend had come over to stay awhile - and he'd brought City of Heroes with him to show me. We installed it on my PC and I was instantly smitten.
I created Sword of Albion and played him until my friend returned to the States, then intermittently with his permission until CoH was released in Europe, whereupon I immediately snagged a Euro copy of the game and remade Sword of Albion. Original Sword of Albion remained in mothballs right until the game's twilight.
These screenshots show my friend playing the original toon on the right (the tall version of Albion), whereas I'm playing a dual blade version that I made specifically to meet up with the original character in September last year, shortly after the sunset announcement.
As he said, he couldn't bring himself to delete original Albion, but he couldn't bring himself to play the character either, because it was my creation. So we agreed to leave him just as he was (unchanged, and badly in need of a respec since about Issue 2) until the sunset.
--------------------
I was going to post this a few days ago, but I thought "Ah, I don't have the time just now, I'll do it later". But sometimes time runs out.
It's very painful for me to post this now because my American friend, playing the Albion on the right there? He died last night.
He'd been battling with a rare blood condition all the years I knew him, and this year that condition worsened. In April he went into hospital and underwent radiation, chemotherapy, and then finally a bone marrow transplant. And things were looking good - his blood profile was returning to normal levels. But because of the transplant, his immune system was in a weakened state, and he contracted pneumonia. So ironically it wasn't even his old blood nemesis that got him in the end, it was the pneumonia.
And now I'm left thinking that if City of Heroes is ever resurrected or reborn, my friend will not see it. He introduced me to the game, kindly let me play on his copy until European CoH was released, then when the servers went global, we teamed together many times on many characters...and now he's gone, and all I have left are memories and screenshots.
When I get to play City of Heroes again, in whatever form that may take, I will honour those memories by recreating some of his characters. Just as he looked after Sword of Albion for me, I will tend to Kama Silverleaf, Mormegil, Dr. Deimos, Maeglyn, Davok Telenna, and Sinea Sapiens.
Rest in peace old friend - your dreams will live on.
@Turjan: I'm very sorry to hear about your friend - may he rest in peace and may you always cherish the fun you had.
As for me, like several others here, my first character was my namesake (FourSpeed - elec/elec Blaster) that I started in the original open-beta and played all the way through to sunset.
He reached L50 sometime in I-3, and semi-retired out to the Shadow Shard, occasionally running the repeatables and the kora-fruit mission.
When dual builds came out, I retained his original (scary) build complete with SO's, and kitted him out "properly" on his second build - with great success. ;D
When Incarnate Powers came out, he extended his power immensely.
While I made many, many more characters over the years, I always enjoyed playing him. I can't recall the exact number now, but I think I amassed ~1500+ hours playing him, from the very beginning until the very end.
Regards,
4
<----- that guy over there
Ultraamann, Inv/SS tanker. First toon, it didn't even dawn on me that I could make another toon until after I'd already hit 50 with him. His costume there is exactly as I rolled it that very first time out of the gate, with only the cape added later on. Nothing else I rolled thereafter ever felt as super, fun, but just not the same. I do miss that particular alter ego.
My very first CoX character and hero ever made was on my friend's account (and presumably would still be there were it not for a certain NCSad decision.) Now, he and I are both middle aged guys in our 50s but we've been gaming buddies and friends since our late teens. He is a completely Out and self confessed heterosexual, which has never bother me, nor has he ever found it difficult to accept me for who I am despite my homosexual orientation. Sorry for all the preamble, but this was LONG before the days of Marriage Equality and only a few years after the APA decided being gay was no longer a mental illness way back in the 1970s. Anyhow, he invited me over to his place to check out this nifty computer game he thought I might like called City of Heroes. He'd been playing it off and on since the first week it was out, and he raved about how cool it was, especially the character/costume designer. Sooooo, after dinner he shows me a number of his characters, many of which were highly whimsical and/or silly and often involved at least one or more level of joke and/or pun in design and execution.
He says, now let's build you a character and you can play this on your computer at home while I'm at work. Man, I see now only in hindsight that he was like that scary drug pusher who says, look it's free and on me, just try it! I did, and I was hooked but I am getting ahead of myself. So all the while we're talking about gaming and in particular CoH, and my MMORPG experience is limited to watching friends play UO, WoW, EverCrackQuest, and even playing a few hours of same but not feeling terribly drawn in and eager to start computer gaming. (Besides back then I was active in LARP and tabletop gaming so why would I want to also game online?) So, Mark tells me about what archetypes he likes in CoH and which ones he thinks might be easiest to learn since I'm a computer gaming novice, regardless of how seasoned I am as a gamer in general, and we decide to create an Ice Control/Kinetics Controller together. So we are flipping thru the costume pieces when I am surprised (read: amazed!) to discover the pierced nipple option with leather straps. Oo la la! How amusing and potentially kinky in a super hero genre game, PG-Teen, where one can make traditional Golden and Silver Age comic book hero costumes very easily, as well as something that looks like it's from the pages of Gay Men's comix and LOL it's too funny! So we go with pierced nipple, tall spikey blue hair, that rather funny face #1 which is a bit sardonic and laughing, sleek, shiny-hiney blue pants, a hot pink belt (arrow pointing up) and matching hot pink "Wings" headdress and boots and gloves voila! The Gay Avenger is born!! (Sorry, I don't recall which server, probably Infinity.) I am whooping with delight simply street sweeping hellions in AP! Two weeks later I had my own account, almost never logged into his any more, and we created our own SG on Infinity and the beginning of my serious CoH addiction, i mean, love affair was launched, under Issue 15, with game and my involvement getting better and better until the dread day we each recall. Thanks for listening. I have fun reminiscing about this stuff, but of course I don't have any screenies of the Gay Avenger. While Mark never deleted any of my new nascent creations, he also didn't play them himself. Theoretically he can screenshot them, but I'm not gonna ask him to bother. Tanks for the memories, Titan Network forums! Stay SUPER and stay AWESOME!!!!! :)
Quote from: The_Laughing_Man on June 11, 2013, 07:59:39 AMNever been so grateful to see that blue sky over Perez.
You're not alone with that thought.
Well, my very first character was probably a grav/forcefield character I made on a friend's account back during Issue 1. (Can you tell I had no idea what I was doing with that combo?) I lost touch with said friend for quite a while after Hurricane Katrina, though, so I stopped playing until 2010, when I just wanted to fly around Paragon City again. So I signed up for the free trial and re-rolled another character I had played on the friend's account.
That re-rolled character would be the very embarrassingly-named Blue Dude 72 (later changed to Blue Blasts-- I never used AOL, but that name was pretty AOLish), an elec^3 blaster with Ion Judgement and other Incarnate powers. I was still calling him my main until I realized I was playing my Kheldians much more often. He is (that's right: is, not was) in dire need of a respec, but while I played him he did okay nuking and sapping.
Ahhh the memories!!! My very first character was a Mind/Storm troller. When I made her I thougth it was the perfect combination of Jean Grey and Storm, two of my favorite Marvel characters. It was so fun and I had her all the way to the very end. Hopefully one day we will meet again!
I don't know if I tried one or two, and then deleted them, but the first toon I kept was a fire/fire blaster - by this very name, actually - on Protector. Being my first one, I ended up messing him up over time; I could still play him, of course (they did a good job of making toons nearly idiot-proof, even for total MMO newbs like me), but I did have to respec him a couple of times as I learned how to grow a toon. Visually, he was about as tall as he could be (I had no idea that I had made him taller than average), dressed in black medieval armor with orange flames on the limbs, topped by the military helmet that had the antenna on the side, also black, and wearing a black, LaForge-type eye visor with orange slit lens.
--Super Firebug
Incoming munitions always have the right of way.
Like a lot of people my first was my namesake (I took the name A:because BlackJack was taken (COH forums as well, hence my name here) and B: he is from my "stable" of characters I made a loooong time ago and I've always liked him and his team). His costume is not a direct rip of Union Jack (see my avatar), but the idea obviously came from him (he is more spiderman-ish and less handgun-y) Here he is from the game:
<-- that guy/namesake right over there. He was my first toon and first MMORPG character. Didn't get what tanks were for. Crash had six Damage SOs in his attacks and no Accuracy. I was really frustrated by his lack of damage and started my loooong descent into Altitis (I had 110 toons over the years). After the ED update, I started to understand the idea around the Enhancements and did better. He is also the last toon standing in front of Liberty when the world ended . . . .
My very first character was a Tanker, probably Inv/SS (I don't remember). The Dark Hunter was based on a character I had come up before I had heard of CoH that used what would be dark powers; since those were lacking from the Tankers, I just gave him a black armored suit and called it done. While he would later be remade into a Dark/Dark Brute, Dark Hunter proved to me in about five minutes that I don't like Tankers much, so I rolled my "real" first character, The Holy Flame. Based on a character whose story was related to the Dark Hunter's, she was a Fire/Eng Blaster, and I LOVED it. She was my first 50, and the character I went out on.
Well that depends. I first had a shared account. On that shared account I made an invincibility energy melee tank. Never got him to fifty. When I got my own I think I made a scrapper first, but I deleted him in favor for a dual pistol ice blaster, who I fell in love with.
The original Brightfires... She was a Defender of some flavor (Rad, I think?), made on FCM's account about three days after the game went live. I played with her for a couple of hours and then abandoned her. I decided that City in the Issue 1 era just wasn't my thing. She managed to make it to level 2 or 3, I think.
It took a few years and a lot of changes to the game for me to come back and try it again, that time with my own account and a guy named Palrah (my WP/DB tank). I liked the game, and him, enough to stick around the second time... Pally ended up being my first 50, and remained my blue-side main until the servers went down. He was the last character I played, the last one I logged off and one of the two or three I still miss most. :-[
As for Bright, she was eventually recreated as a Fire Controller. She made it into the late 30's. In the end, I just ran out of time and she was left unfinished.
Fug Li. An ice/axe tanker. eight feet tall, green, with chitinous skin and face and giant head spikes and mangler gears. I loved it the day I logged into atlas, and someone local'ed "never has a character been so aptly named"
My first was Jet Flash, an Energy Blast / Energy Manipulation Blaster. He was essentially an homage to Iron Man, created many years before as a character for a Marvel Super Heroes RPG PnP game my big brother was running. That character's name was actually Skyranger, but when the time came to give him a name in CoH, I received the dreaded "Name not available" error message. Trying various spelling also resulted in a "sorry please try again", so I had to come up with something new.
At that very instant the radio was playing the song "Rocket" by Def Leppard. One line in the song's lyrics is "Jack Flash, Rocket Man", referring to songs performed by the Rolling Stones and Elton John. Well, at the time I had not actually seen the lyrics, and my brain misheard it as "Jet Flash, rocket man". And that, is the rest of the story.
Airhead began as available name 'Aehaed' on Infinity during Issue 11. I came across a City of Heroes fan site in 2004 and the game looked perfect, but I did not try any online games for another 3 years. My Mind Control/Forcefields Controller got to 50+3 perfectly slowly. His powers never quite matched what I had in mind, but imagination completely filled in the gaps. Other heroes and villains modelled on Airhead's backstory came much later, along with game-inspired toons like Bang Galore (mace wielding hottie tank) and Turnturtle (Soldier of Arachnos in a turtle-themed hero group).
Airhead was still mopping up Rikti in the vast puddlecave at the end of "Save the World" when the lights went out. I took down Hro'Dtohz and Hero One with friends made in-game and met again in my home town. That final demorecord is my favorite replay.
From her VirtueVerse article (http://www.virtueverse.net/wiki/Miss_Megajoule):
"[Miss Megajoule] was originally based on an unplayed character I made for the Champions tabletop RPG back in the early 90s. While that hero's powers fit almost perfectly into those of an FF/Energy defender, it became clear during character generation that "Moonfire" could not be imported into CoH exactly as she was. This was ultimately for the best, as it allowed MJ to grow into her own person, one firmly rooted in this universe."
I've been tempted, now and then, to pop for the "Impulse" AT in CO and bring her full circle (as it were), but... eh. For one thing, it wouldn't be her, any more than she ended up being that tabletop character.
There's a slight chance that I might have actually made some version of V-Max, my MA/SR scrapper, first - this would have been on a friend's account, when I wasn't even sure my computer would run the game. (It did, but it was a near thing and required updating the video drivers, which I hadn't done in some time.) But in every sense that matters, Julie came first.
My first was a fire/fire blaster that a friend let me create on his account. "Hey, there's this new superhero MMO, come try it". His costume was right off the cheese block. Bright orange and neon yellows, spiky hair I think, and a cigar coming out of his mouth.
I ended up buying it a couple days later and my REAL first character, which became my first 50 about 3-4 yrs later, was a Fire/Energy blaster with a hideous Luchador costume. I was going for the "regular dude is granted mysterious superpowers, puts on a ski mask and flak jacket and twilights as a hero look". My RL friends still make fun of my costume to this day. :D
I wish I could find my old screenshots but I think they got fried along with my old HDD. :gonk:
My very first hero I made to play with a roommate who got me into the game. Her name was Celestine Phoenix, a Fire/Fire tank, and I never got her above level 15. I will always remember hovering across Perez Park from Galaxy City because I couldn't find the train to Atlas. I stopped playing her when I got into a themed SG and made a toon named Firestorm Dragon on Pinnacle. He and 5 other of my dragons I got to 50.
My very first Villain was Reckless Abandon. A Super strength/Willpower brute. I think it took me about a 2 weeks to get him to 50 because I could NOT stop playing him. The fury mechanic with him rushing from one mob to the next and just going to town... I still miss it. Then came IOs and he became even more dangerous. And then came incarnates. Never has any character ever made me feel more like a hero. I changed his name when I transferred servers to infinity, and he spent the rest of his days as my main: Ellscry. I will always cherish that last day when I solo'd a few of the hardest task forces, all on voice chat with my long time friends. Never felt more like a cannon hero. (cause he was always a hero, but the alignment system finally let him get to his appropriate side :P)
My first character was Consultant1, a willpower/fiery melee scrapper. My son advised me to take willpower, and I chose fire -- and never regretted it. I loved that character, and played him continuously until the Justice server shut down. I needed about 5 months to get him to 50 because mostly I soloed the journey -- I was so terrible as a noob that I hated to burden a team. I can't count how many times Consultant1 was beaten to death in a tunnel because I could not get him turned around....darn tunnels!
I ended up with nearly full slots on Justice for two accounts, plus a dozen on Freedom and Virtue, both sides. All incarnate 50's. COH was a great game. If it somehow came back, I would re-create many of my toons, as closely as possible, and work them back up the levels (slowly, just for fun).
Pretty sure it was a character called Dark Harvest, a dark/dark defender, which I played for about half an hour then switched over to Infinity to create a new character with friends.
I just noticed there were a group of 5 guys with the same costume dancing in the water in the 2nd picture.
The first ever was a Bots and Traps Mastermind, Mr Playskool. I started in 2007 and purchased the Good vs Evil edition. I got him to level 9. He helped me decide that pets were not my style.
Then I gave up on him and rolled Brou.
my 1st was PhoenixGirl a fire/fire blaster
miss playing as her :(
I was lucky enough to be in beta and my very 1st character was a Fire/Stone tank and his name was Volcano. I re-created him during the 3-day pre-launch headstart given to beta players, and I still played him right up until Nov. 30th. I miss him.
Mine was Darkwave, a Dark/Dark Defender I rolled during the original CoH beta. I got him to somewhere around level 20 before I rolled an Ice/Axe Tanker, fell in love with the AT, and used that character for the remainder of the beta.
Edit: And hi, I suppose!
huzzah fellow ice/axe tanker!
Way back in 2004... my first character was an Illusion/Empathy controller who I named Hellgeist. I thought about what I would want to be if I had powers, and that was it. He was my main all the way to the end, though I had remade him in slightly different ways over the years, as new powersets and costume items were added to the game.
I had alts, to be sure, but even those who took over 'main' position eventually morphed into something like Hellgeist.
When I first saw CoH I just wanted to fly. Seriously, a game that lets you be a superhero and FLY? I'm all over that!! This is why I play Champions even though I liked CoH better - there really isn't another game left in the genre that is this good, IMO.
Back in the Summer of 2004 I purchased CoH at the local GameStop. I had never ventured into MMO land but all my co-workers were playing. I was hooked from the start. Actually, the only reason I initially played was that there was this really hot girl at work who was playing and I figured that by playing the game and teaming up with her we would sort of be hanging out together after work (even if it was only on the computer).
My first character was an Electrical/Electricity Blaster. Trying to be comical, I named him Sir Cumcision and he fought the good fight on the Infinity server. Needless to say, that name was nerfed by CoH after about 2 weeks of playing. I was given the name GenericHero05 which I actually decided to keep for the duration.
By the way, it worked. I married that hot girl in 2006.
Before the shutdown, our kids had heroes in the game.
We all terribly miss CoH.
The very first hero I every made in the game was a martial arts/super reflexes scrapper. His costume sucked as shown in the image below.
I wanted to name him Red Dragon (http://todogut.deviantart.com/art/Red-Dragon-reference-sheet-339466483) but (you guessed it) found that the name was already taken. So, I settled for an unsatisfactory alternate spelling. (Later, I bought a character rename token and secured a better name with correct spelling.)
I had created the character years before in a Champions pencil-and-paper roleplaying campaign. I liked Bruce Lee movies and participated in Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, and Tae Kwon Do classes, so a martial arts superhero was an appealing role for me to play. Back then, I drew pictures of our group's Champions characters (and I even dressed as Red Dragon for a Halloween party). But, trying to recreate my drawn costume in the City of Heroes costume creator was limiting. In particular, the mask in my drawings was a variation on the mask worn by Iron Fist in Marvel Comics, and I couldn't duplicate it in CoH.
Later, I redesigned his costume, which made better use of CoH's costume options; but, I still wasn't happy with his mask. (I showed the new costume design to a friend from the old Champions gaming group, and his only comment was, "It's red." Funny guy.) When Champions Online came out, finally RD got a proper dragon mask.
My very first toon was a Empathy/Psi Defender named Psi Kat. I was such a noob and tried to solo play her and failed miserably. I think I got to level 25 before I "retired" her.
The next one I made was my uber-awesome Claws/Regen Scrapper BattleGirl Yoko. This was in the heady days before Regen got nerfed. Instant Healing was the power of powers back then and make you practically unkillable. I got her to Level 50. When they nerfed Regen, I didn't play her anymore.

Nice costume on the CO version! That is one thing I really like about Champions - costume customization is way ahead of CoH, and the characters actually look like they are from comic books. CoH characters always looked to me like something between an inflatable dummy and a department store mannequin.

And they all have the same face... oneofusoneofusoneofus :-[
You can make them look sort of different by playing with the sliders, but that sadly takes a level of artistic skill few people possess. I wish they'd add some presets or something.
it's also a skill which is hidden. the sliders controlling head shape are hidden in a sub menu under the body size menu at the end of the customization menu. unless you're specifically looking for it, it's very easy to skip right past. And even then, it doesn't do much to change the face, just the shape of the head it's mounted on. eye shape, mouth shape, and skin texture remain largely the same

You can also set a facial expression/attitude on one of the last tabs, the one where you choose your standing/walking stance. There you can choose 'Determined', 'Angry', Happy, etc. Setting that makes a HUGE difference in your facial appearance, I use that one a lot. It takes your sliders and multiplies the possible combinations by about 6 times.

The problem is that they make a
huge difference. Seriously, those are the most over-the-top facial expressions I've ever seen. Of them, I only ever finding myself using "normal" and "pleasant" because they're the only ones that don't seem to put your character through uncanny-valley levels of facial contortion.
Especially "Courageous."
*shudder*Eyebrows do not work that way!
Mine was KinThalas, an old character of mine in SpellForce 1. He was a claws/regen scrapper on Triumph, my first 50 and the one who had the honor to test new stuff in CoH. He went on with me to The Secret World and I certainly hope the two of us can either go back to CoH one day, or start over in a new superhero game.

First character I ever made was a Dark/Regen scrapper named Name Theft. The name was suppose to be Modnar (random backwards) because I just hit random a few times then was ready to create the character. Sadly someone had already made a character with that name. So I went with Name Theft.
