I know I'm about six months too late to be discussing game mechanics, but I saw this, and got excited all over again for What Might Have Been.
I was playing around in Icon today, when I noticed a change to the description for Power Surge (Electric Armor T9) At the end of the sentence describing the crash, it now adds "unless you have trained Unrelenting from the Presense pool, which protects against this crash."
I checked a few other powersets, and Unstoppable, One With The Shield, Elude, Overload, and Strength of Will also have similar phrasing. (The other powersets either don't have a T9 Supermode, or - like Radiation Armor - have only a minimal "crash")
That would have made the Presence pool much more desirable for most Melee players.
Did anyone else notice that? Did I miss a topic talking about that? (If so, I apologize)
Man, the devs just kept making our already-awesome characters even more awesome. What other game can you say that about?
It was present in beta for a while, but got pulled in the very last beta update (though the description hadn't been fixed yet; look at real numbers or City of Data). Apparently it ended up being overpowered and got reverted.
Ah, that's too bad, though I can understand why it'd be considered overpowered.
It couldn't have been as overpowered as perma-unstoppable.
I would've personally been fine with a reduction in the power's stats to accommodate removing the crash. I'm sure not everyone would agree with that, but I hated crashing that much. I actually skipped most T9s because of crashes.
I picked up the Tier-9, but I hardly used them. The fear of the crash made them too unreliable for regular use. So even though I had them available "for emergencies", inevitably I failed to remember to use them.
the key for a crashless MoG, well it would have to be made.
I'm working on the makings of an armor set now, I'm trying to make a crashless MoG that is also fair. I suppose I can post it, but it's only in the beta stages right now the whole thing needs nerfing. stats are too high lol. I'll post it in another thread.
