OK, so I hope this isn't an existing topic, but I haven't seen it yet. Soooo here goes! Is it possible to take screenshots in the costume creator? If so how?
I lost all of my screenshots when my computer crashed, and I desperately want to recreate my toons and take pictures.
Never mind the fact that I try to roll them into Atlas every single time haha... :-\
You might need a third party software program to take screen captures, like Fraps There's a free program called MSI Afterburner that will do this, and I know there's another that's been mentioned hereabouts, but I forget the name of it.
Demo playback still works: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Demo_Recording
There's a nifty Demolition demo builder tool that will use costume files or Titan Sentinel XML files to create demo record files.

You might look around in the Demo Recording forum here:

or you can just hit shift+prtscreen (in windows, at least-copies the screen to clipboard) and paste it into an image program to save.
Thank youuuu thank you so much!! I'm at work but once I'm home I'll check this out. I might have MSI actually but I'm not entirely sure. I'd rather have my avatar be the actual toons that I made rather than my not-so-great concept sketches :P
I'll also look into shift+prtscreen! What image programs might work?
irfanview is simple, free, easy.
If you want more than a simple screenie in the cc, look into using demorecord. lots of simple demofiles still available out there; you can copy your character's info text into a demofile of - say Atlas Park (or other zone), and then do your own videos. It can get complex, plotting character movements, camera angles/pov, etc., but a simple vid inside a vanilla zone is easy enough.
Don't know if the standalone Icon app is different from Icon in-game, but PrintScreen never put anything but a big black rectangle in my copy/paste buffer. Same with the respec screen, which made respecs even more difficult than they already were. But a friendly soul on the forums gave me a very simple workaround: open another program like a text editor, make the window very small (so it doesn't cover up much of the screen), then start CoH/Icon. Alt-tab to bring the text editor on top and drag it to a position where it doesn't obscure anything critical. Now press PrintScreen -- somehow in this state it manages to see the CoH stuff in the background and captures it in the copy/paste buffer.
W00t all of this is super helpful! My thinking right now is to use text edit etc for simple screenshots for characters. But then I might use demorecord to capture power animations and the like, provided that's a possibility. That would be awesome :D

My system gives me black screens when I'm running full screen, too. I can work around that just by switching to windowed mode.
If you have a recorded demo, you can easily edit them to replace any character with the one you want to be there. :)
Ahhhh if only I had recorded demos... I had a MASSIVE file folder that had screenshots, demos and other such amazing things saved to it, but I lost all of it when my computer crashed :gonk:
Now I want to try and get demos and screenshots of the unreleased powersets that I discovered on the app (psionic melee, savage melee, can't remember if wind control was there) and the unreleased ones that I loved in Beta and really wanted to see live (martial combat/assault) - I'll do what I can with what I've got!

Use paint / paint brush that comes with any windows computer.
Otherwise, I'd suggest paint.net
cool cool I'll get onto paint/paintbrush and use that. It'll be nice to have real pictures. AND Icon includes costume pieces I never had but wanted to try (celestial/elemental order/ fire and ice)!
My favorite copy tool (when printscreen can't be used) is the last FREE (5.3) version of FastStone Capture. I keep it on my Quick Launch taskbar and can use it on the fly. It is awesome!

Heehee use it on the FLY. Love it, 'specially since your avatar is of your toon flying.
