Title: Buying into NC Soft
Post by: hard on March 11, 2013, 12:09:45 AM
Unsure if this idea has been put forward earlier but here it is.

*Is it possible for us (not residents of Korea) to accumulate shares in NC Soft?
*and if it is possible how many shares would we need to buy to get the management to pay attention  to the Shareholders

I'm unsure what the market capitalisation of NC Soft is, but  with their share price despressed it would be a window of opportunity to buy their shares.

I'm presuming Father Xmas would have the answers to these questions so over to you father xmas

Anyone can buy the shares, you just have to buy them through the Korean market. I assume there's some hoops to jump through, tax wise and stuff.

They're currently around US$115-140 (depending on the daily fluctuations) *PER SINGLE SHARE* so you'll have to do some major saving to make any kind of difference to the management.

Yeah bought 50 shares thursday. That is not enough to do crap, but maybe get a letter about the finance situation every now and then. Will buy another 50 next month. These shares are no joke! Even after 100 shares and over $14,000 or so including stockbroker fee spent, it does not even put  a dent into being anywhere near having enough pull power to do anything.

Really these is not many hoops to go through, for me, I go through a stock broker, the same one I used to buy my shares in a noodle company located in China. But the loops and hoops and crazy stuff come to play during tax filing which you have to play it by the teeth or end up owing a few grand to the IRS. But buying is as simple as buying stocks of a NASDAQ listed company.

Nexon has been able to have some influence on NCSoft with just a 15% stake - although that cost them $700 million.

Yeah, I don't think i have enough OCD to compete with corporate exec love for corporate grindfest.  Guess I should check in to see how The Phoenix Project and Heroes & Villains are coming.   ;)
