Interesting... CoH looks to be the only MMO in that  Hall of Fame that's not still running anymore.

Might be worth including that little tidbit in letters to Disney/Google/whoever (though the whole Hall of Fame seems to run by a rather small group, so it might not be that influential).

..... I'm babbling.

yeah that could work. Just sad accordingto the article it entered the hall of fame based on the actions of the community after it was shut down. Would it otherwise have not made it? It seems worded as if it only made it from the after actions of the community after the shutdown and otherwise wouldnt have not been even mentioned.

Did they explain? If they're gonna put CoH in there for our actions, they really oughta enumerate what we've done that's so cool. Y'know, like sticking together, helping each other over the grief, buying the devs dinner and conmiserating with them, and taking on the corporate bully-boys at NCSoft. Not to mention the charities. Did I miss anything?

This (http://www.mmohall.com/hall-of-fame-2/hall-of-fame/) was the vote last year, we only got 3 of 10.  This (http://www.mmohall.com/hall-of-fame-2/2013-mmo-hall-of-fame/) year we got 7 of 10 (needed only 6).  At the very least #SAVECOH raised the awareness of the game among those who were the judges and that's important to a game that is no longer around.  Game has to be at least 5 years old to be included in the vote.

I was a bit puzzled about the "only got in because of the community", because the OP linked article didn't have much other than the vote tallies.

Was the OP edited from this site,  http://www.gamenguide.com/articles/5183/20130212/runescape-city-heroes-join-mmo-hall-fame.htm , which seems to be an unrelated site commenting on the MMOHOF inductees ?

The writer seems to get some facts wrong, so it's possible he is just speculating.

Looking at last years inductees, which is the first year of the HoF, it seems pretty easy to see why CoH didn't make it in, since all but WoW were made before CoH.  Even Meridian 69, aka the first 3D MMO didn't make it the first year.  I'm sure CoH would have made it in sooner than later with all the innovations it introduced, and it's relatively unique genre.

Well the first year's inductees were obvious choices from a historic and commercial success.  UO and Everquest were the first major commercial successes and EVE and WoW were the 2nd generation success stories.  After you do the obvious commercial successes you move onto firsts in style or genre.
