Title: Guinness World Records 2013: Gamer's Edition
Post by: Hakkusshon on December 11, 2012, 09:32:02 AM
I grabbed this book solely to see if CoH was mentioned. It did actually have a short paragraph on Pg 125 about Comics and Video Games:

Heroes and Villains
For a long while, no major comic publisher was interested in licensing out their characters for an MMO title.  Developers Cryptic Studios and publisher NCSoft broke new ground with City of Heroes (Cryptic, 2004).  The game, which enables players to become either the hero or villain of their dreams, is still going strong. It can also be seen as an influence on DC, which launched MMO title DC Universe Online (Sony, 2011).

The emphasis was mine about the "still going strong".  Let's see if we can get into the Guinness World Records 2014 for reviving the game!

I imagine if Paragon had felt like pushing for it, CoH would probably have had the world record for most unique outfits/costumes designed in a video game pretty easily.  I mean, I'm sure it holds it, but Guinness can't really check now.

Actually I already beat you too it. Titan Twitter re-tweeted my post. I sent in the request to Guinness book of records to see if our efforts to revive our game is worthy of a world record for greatest attempt to save a online game and its community!

I already got a reply back from them. They are going to reply back with an answer within the next 4-6 weeks for more information.

I tried to use time travel to be the first... but I wasn't the only one.

This resulted in a time traveling battle in which I ended up going back so far that I had to invent the internet in order to win.
