My bologna has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R!
A bologna sandwich walks into a bar, sits down, and starts to order a drink.
The bartender looks at him funny and says "Get out of here. We don't serve food in here!"
A string was wanting to get a drink at a bar, but the bartender definitively said to it "We don't serve string drinks. I don't care how amazing it is there's a sentient string, no."
Frustrated, the string walks out, and a passerby happens to cross his path.
"Hey, mister, can you tie me into a figure eight? And then play with the ends to frizz them up a little bit?"
The man, after getting over his inital shock at the talking, animated string, and reassuring himself it wasn't a kinky thing to be doing, did what he was asked, and tied the string as requested.
Confidently, the string went back inside the bar, and gets the bartender's attention.
"Yes, what can I... HEY. You're that string, aren't you?"
"No sir! I'm a frayed knot."
When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot on it and hang on.

When you're all alone
far away from home
there's a gift the angel sent
when you're alone.
Everyday must end
but the night's our friend
angels always send a star
when you're alone.
At night when I'm alone
I lie awake and wonder,
Which of them belongs to me,
which one I wonder?
And any star I choose
watches over me
so I know I'm not alone
when I'm here on my own
Isn't that a wonder?
When you're alone
you're not alone
not really alone.
The stars are all my friends

A Short Poem, by Triplash J. Triplash, esq.
Life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long.
I can't drive 55; I'm goin' out in a blaze of glory.
I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day.
Every girl's crazy about a sharp dressed man.
Then I saw the sign. It opened up my eyes, I saw the sign.
Signs, signs, everywhere are signs.
Smoke on the water, a fire in the sky.
It's better to burn out than to fade away??
Insane in the membrane! Went insane, got no brain!
Break on through to the other side...
Hit the road, Jack, and don't you come back no more.
Now all I can say is that my life is pretty plain.
But always look on the bright side of life;
I'm older now but still runnin' against the wind.
So put me in, coach. I'm ready to play!

Huckle Buckle Beanstalk!
OK....so now MY family weirdness comes out.
When we were kids, we played a "hide the thimble (or other small object) in plain sight" game that we called Huckle Buckle Beanstalk. Everyone but the person hiding the thimble would troop out of the room, the hiding happened, and then we all came back in looking high and low for the thimble. When you found it, you were *supposed* to wait until you were a bit away from the hiding spot, call out...what else?..."Huckle Buckle Beanstalk!!" and throw yourself on home base (usually the couch). Last one to hit home lost and had to hide it the next round.
What that has transformed into now that my husband and I are not in our 20s any more (*cough-cough49cough-cough*) (and this is the last day I can say THAT)....is that when we're looking for those lost keys or the phone that has run down on battery so you can't just call it to find it....when we DO find whatever it is we're looking for, we say it's been Beanstalked.
No one else understands us, but we do.

Alan Alda! Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn!! Gosh, I haven't seen nor thought about that movie for years! But I remember thinking it was a really cool film, and so maybe I should watch it again!

I remember that song, Mersiene; and it's just a powerful now as when I first heard it on the radio as a kid. Gosh, "One Tin Soldier" associates so much for me, it's hard to pick just one associated memory, much less one that has lyrical meaning as significant. I mean, just imagine if the Valley people had realized/thought of themselves as the spiritual brothers of the people of the Hill? Ah well, so here is my association in Black & White: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e4kDXsM6lk
And now the Three Dog Night song reminded me of this. I don't get my brain either.

//I liked Supernova... although it was really hokey, sure, it was fun. :)
I won't pretend to understand how your mind works either, Houtex! However, your recent post associates for me to....
In Space No One Can Hear You Scream a.k.a. the film ALIEN!!!!!!!
(It was either that or else Disney's The Blue Bathtub Drain*, I mean, The Black Hole, so naturally I opted for ALIEN!!!!! )
*note: this idea originated here http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-black-hole-1979, not with me.
Okay, so "Blue Bathtub Drain" and "Black Hole" got mixed up with "Alien" in my head to produce "Creature From The Blue Lagoon". And no, not the Black Lagoon... Creature From The Blue Lagoon. As in, Brooke Shields waking up on the beach with bedhead and morning breath and sand crusted into the dried up drool running down her chin and cranky cause she got a crick in her neck from sleeping on a rock. *shudders* Man, that's one scary sight..... :-\
Well of course we need to erase that scary sight by bringing Godzilla on the scene [think of it...Brooke Shields, Chris Atkins, both in loincloths...running from 'Zilla as she stomps up the beach...ah the heart warms] ...and I mean the REAL Godzilla from the movies of the 50's and 60's, not the stupid remake (WHY does Hollywood do remakes?!?!?? Is there NO ONE with an original idea in their head any more?!@?!??!?!???) [/rant, sorry.]
I've got a friend who is a HUGE Godzilla fan...she's even got the signature SKREEE-ONK!!! roar as a ring tone.
I have a vision of two tiny women singing, "Moth-oo-rai-YUH, Mothura"
Mothra theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UH9XTzW6p0U)

ROFL, LadyShin and "MOOOo" reminds me of the "Cold Milk of Justice" as regularly served up one of our own CoH Titans here. (Apologies for my inability to name him precisely, but he's an excellent skier, had his own AE video, and is one of the many wonderful Cow toons!!!!) 8)

HI COW!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYYJZYUlqbM
That quirky musical number "Springtime for Hitler and Germany". Don't ask me how or why my brain did that association; I only know that it did.
Quirky reminds me of my family.....
The association part first (before I start seriously digressing... ) The Addams Family. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8GSUhjXbUw Yeah, I always wanted parents like Gomez and Morticia since they let Pugsley and Wednesday do anything , even poison one another! Plus does it get much cooler than dueling with swords inside? (I was too young then to have the correct appreciation for the exotic French language and the effect it can have on men and sometimes even women!) 8) Color me: Positively Ooky! (And no, I am not gonna go post to What I am listening to just yet. It's way too obvious!)
I used to read the original Charles Addams comics before I ever saw the TV show. So this sort of stuff is bread and meat to me.(https://images.weserv.nl/?url=24.media.tumblr.com%2Ftumblr_me0uyfigGk1qzoaqio1_r1_1280.jpg)
Sorry for the huge picture. It's what I found on the web.

Mad Mel rocked that coat and leathers in 'Mad Max'.
