Breaking News (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mS6kk1bTqJs) ... Pacific Rim, the giant monster Vs giant robot movie directed by Guillermo del Toro has started doing it's viral marketing campaign.
That's looking good! :D
There's another video, but it's only an uninteresting "Test of the Kaiju Emergency Broadcast System".
I'm sorry, I've been a Kaiju monster fan like forever (early 70s) when I saw Godzilla. In the 90s I started to pick up all the originals in Japanese. I thought Cloverfield was an interesting take on them.
And what's better than a giant robot battling a giant monster? ;D

I wouldn't have minded Cloverfield if the monster design would've been more interesting. The fake concept art of the monster whale going around at the time was much better.

A giant robot battling a giant monster while a child with a purse full of alien/fairies looks on!
As someone said they pretty much used the same monster model in Super 8 as Cloverfield.
They look nothing alike. And I'm talking the actual creature in the movie, not some preproduction sketch.
They have a certain resemblance IMO and a casual websearch shows that many people had similar feelings.
I've had friends who (mistakenly) believed that the Cloverfield creature was related to the alien from Super 8.
(For the record, Abrams said they weren't.)

Two giant TRANSFORMING robots battling a giant monster! :D
ROBOTECH VS. MOTHRA! or maybe GRIMLOCK VS. GODZILLA would be awesome. Just don't let Michael Bay anywhere near it!
Hirohito Gamera! Hirohito Gamera!
I'm not the hugest Kaiju fan, but I did spend many a Saturday afternoon back in the 80's watching Creature Double Feature on WLVI in Boston, and I remember Kaiju Big Battel getting pretty popular around here in the late 90's/early 00's.
I've yet to watch Cloverfield, or Super 8 for instance, but I did watch the Aquabats! SuperShow! which is awesome, but it has mostly smallish monsters except for some giant ants, the Floating Eye of Death, and in the last episode where they fight Space Monster "M"(so EPIC). I still thinks it's amazingly cool the way they had the last live-action episode of the show lead right into where the cartoon part begins in the first episode, and the last cartoon ends where the first live-action episode begins. I can't wait for season 2!
I just hope CGI gets cheap enough that every movie that uses it won't feel obligated to have every monster they make
be as fast as the Flash ...
Practical FX are preferable to gratuitous CGI.

I. Want. To. Watch. This. Movie.
It was shown before The Hobbit which explains why the trailer came out Wednesday.

Plot?
Who cares about plot?
We've got a Giant Mech wielding an Oil Tanker as a Weapon. This movie is going to be awesome.
Someone in Hollywood REALLY needs to license Godzilla again. Someone who actually knows what the bleep they're doing.
Anyone else expect to see Jason Bourne make an appearance after hearing the music in the trailer? :D
Gonna like watching this one.

Whether they know what they are doing remains to be seen.

And someone who knows how to direct scenes of giant robots fighting. Michael Bay should be taking notes.

Ok... Ok... yeah, I am just gonna have to see that stupidness. It's got Ron Perlman in it. Anytime Ron is in something, tis a good thing. Even when it's bad, he'll somehow make it worthwhile.
Plus... giant robots.
/Now I want live action Robotech... oh... well... lookie there. There IS such a thing happening!
