I know its been a drag. NC SOFT flucking with us for the longest time. I do have a request to make
I like do download a mod to play COH off line.
one persion playing off line dose have this draw backs
1) cannot fight monster class monsters solo. possible fix. gain level to level 200 not the standard level 50
2)since there are no PVP in solo. how about using Elete Bosses to that that place
3) buy a DVD disc that contains all the updates mods and patches. becuase downloading them is not avalable.
if there is a genious computer programmer out there. this is one way to keep the game on. with crying out at NC SOFT
please keep in touch on my idea
thank you for your time
Not going to happen. Nobody is going to sell you update disks because right now it would be illegal. And the level of reverse engineering you want - seriously, man? - would more likely than not lead to a complete private server rather than a single player "mod".
As I understand, the game was getting all combat data from the server, and chances are that there's little or nothing at all in the client that would allow recreating it.
Do you know that there's nothing in the client that would allow that? I know there is an underground group working on reverse engineering the server (and which, from what I understand, is not in itself illegal). TonyV says that he does not know what we're going with this bit of reverse engineering, but I believe it's being done.
And then there's New City of Heroes. ;D
(Sorry. Couldn't resist.)
QuoteDo you know that there's nothing in the client that would allow that?
Not for absolute certainity, but it did seem to be the case when the server was lagging - if the clientdid not have to wait for combat results and could "exist" as its' own instance, I don't think it would be happening.
Anyhow. I have a deep dislike of "simple ideas" requested with no actual understanding of their complexity, that actually demand more work than they're supposed to avoid. Developing a server emulator means developing a new piece of software that communicates with another using a known, documented protocol. Changing the actual game client itself would require taking it apart, understanding what the hell we're looking at and then finding out the right place(s) to apply the patch(es) without causing undesirable results.

Bleh. He's got more plants helping him troll everyone who asks him about results now. :p
Well, there's also SEGS. Assuming it moves out of development hell, that is.
Anyone else find it darkly amusing that the VIP account status in the NCSoft master account still says "playable?"

False advertising? Better Business Bureau is waiting for your complaints with open arms. :D
... NCSoft still had my card on file and had me scheduled for a payment at the end of December, even though I know I removed the card at the beginning of September. Something screwy is going on over there.
(Not that they could have charged me anyway. The card expired just as the game went down)

yes.
No. Pursuing a BBB complaint for something that could be handwaved as a clerical oversight isn't worth my time or anyone else's. I am verifying that I deleted my card info, though. I would delete my account entirely, but TF Hail Mary is looking for account info to be included in the deal. I don't want to screw myself in a fit of pique.
Also funny: at the master account login screen, before you log in, City of Heroes is in the drop-down under "Games." After you log in, Boobs and Shame is in its place.
I have a very dark sense of humor. What the hell was I thinking having kids? :P
My card is still on file as is my PayPal info (for the second account) and it shows the next billing dates for both. I received s little refund a while back, and have had nothing charged since.
on my game account it still says "playable" which i find funny, still being declared VIP wouldnt really be wrong since early on they gave everyone who was VIP, perma VIP access
but the fact it still says the account is "playable" when it clearly is not makes it possible ammo
also upon further checking, i also still got credited with paragon points sept, oct, and nov for being counted as VIP status, it seems they defaulted everyone who was VIP to a 1 month autorenew, but they basically charged $0 for it because i removed my card info and stuff early on and it says next bill date for me is dec 25 (just realized how much that sucks too lol)
My NCSoft Master Account appears to have been deleted--and not by me. (I wanted my exact date of initial subscription.) Consequently, I've just dug through an old email account folder (my yahoo acc't got so buried in spam, I've saved it only for old info.) and requesting NCSoft Account Services please locate my account records.
