Title: The Last Three Broadcast Comments in Guardian Atlas Park
Post by: Sailboat on December 01, 2012, 08:14:41 AM
...might say something about the game and the playerbase.

This is how it ended:

"We are heroes, this is what we do!"

"R.I.P. Coyotee."

"SPOOOOOON!"

:)

I got the boot from Virtue just before the end.
Managed to log in to Infinity with an old alt.

Someone used Mystic Fortune on me and the game shut down.

Lol!  I ended up spending my last night on Champion, but it could have been any of the old servers.  I believe the last thing I read was something about the extra minute or two being a Nemesis plot.

I had to relog into Pinnacle when Virtue booted me for the 4th time tonight at 11:57pm. I new I couldn't get back in before shutdown, and as it was I barely had 2 minutes back once it let me log back in.

And that is only because the final shutdown took a couple minutes longer than midnight.

The last three on Protector were people saying slightly naughty words on the grounds that they couldn't be banned for it anymore.  Personally, I prefer LFG:

lv 50 blaster looking for mmo

Fuck, now I owe base rent

My last badge was called Saved the World ... heh

On Champions I joked, "There's still time for one more Regen nerf!" ;)

Beta's shutdown was weird. At one point, stuff started crashing - including my client - when we were in RWZ, fighting against the Devouring Earth GMs. Unfortunately my demo of that got eaten by the client in the process. Pity, it felt truly epic. :'(
I was sure the server was taken offline but decided to try logging back on anyhow. To my surprise, it worked - but now RWZ was almost empty. The Devouring Earth have vanished just as did most of the heroes who were fighting them. We started pulling together for one last team-up... and then the server went offline.

All in all it ended on a weirdly positive note.

I posted the screenshot in another thread, but the last broadcast message I got on Triumph was

Bipolar Man: The crowd asked "Why haven't we all been kicked?"

Immortality is mine! Truly, the Beta shutdown was a fight to remember. My only regret is that my Self Destruct amid a huge group of GM's failed. The NPC Positron was still blasting Hami mitos to the end, all day long.
