Title: Trouble with colors in Fraps?
Post by: ThePhlebotomist on November 29, 2012, 12:48:48 AM
Hi,

I've been recording some videos and screenshots with Fraps, but it seems like the City of Heroes colors are dull in the files it creates compared to in-game.

Has anyone else encountered this?

(Using Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with an EVGA NVIDIA GTX 670 and latest drivers & Fraps version)

I use Bandicam without issues on a similarly specced pc (660).  Why not just demorecord?  The client will still play those back after shutdown.

I'll give that a go too.

I'm doing a LOT of demorecording, but I wanted to get videos of things like the costume editor, login selector, and the Menu > ID character display with the model rotation.

Just following up --

It seems like the colors from the Fraps output are probably fine, but it's the video player that makes them look off.  In my case, rather sadly, they looked more washed out with less contrast and a higher black point in VLC than in Windows Media Player.

I also purchased Bandicam and must say it offers an improvement in recording for me over Fraps.  You can even use external codecs.  My computer is powerful enough to run the game and perform recording compression, and Bandicam lets me record whole missions with a good codec without them overrunning my hard disk.
