Hello,
I've been following the Titan Network for sometime, especially since the announcement of the closing of City of Heroes. I have been quite impressed by the amount of support the game still enjoys, especially getting as close to its intended close as it is. Though I am, personally, a new actual member of the Titan Network, I thought I might post a suggestion for an event for players to be held during the last official week that City of Heroes will exist as we know it now.
Perhaps, starting the weekend before sunset week officially begins, each and every day up until the announced closing date could be some kind of themed celebration? Perhaps that weekend would be one shared theme across friday evening through saturday/sunday, then every day during the week would be a different theme. One example I could think of was having a day dedicated to reliving all the famous 'farms' we've come to know over our time spent on City of Heroes. Perhaps another day could be running story arcs based on a certain theme, i.e. magic, technology, specific villain groups (maybe even for that day different arc categories for different times of day). And of course it would all culminate in the final day where the entire time would be spent partying it up in every way imaginable to show that this, that we, are not something that is fleeting and that we will celebrate the good times up to the very end. Now that I think about it, this could involve successively partying at prominent landmarks at each hero/villain zone, culminating in a large Pocket D extravaganza.
Obviously this would take a lot more thought and planning to become something really solid, not to mention input from the community at large, but I feel an entire week dedicated to remembering all that we've come to love about the City of Heroes universe would be the perfect way to celebrate. Feel free to let me know what you think of this idea, as I said for now it's still rather nebulous.
Stay strong, fellow super-beings; though an end is in sight, know that for us it can never be *the* end.
Note to TonyV: I greatly appreciate what you are doing for the game, as well as your efforts in keeping us informed on its status. The fervor that our community holds is surely unmatched at this point, and your actions in keeping it alive are most admirable.
If I actually get my PC running by then I'll be in... new motherboard, RAM, and video card on its way to give the desktop CPR
Welcome to the other side of the fence Dr. Mechanor :)
On Triumph we seem to set to go out in Atlas Park. And we are seeing a return of players for these last days.
Let me make one thing clear. When we talk of the last days we speak of the last days of NCsoft City of Heroes. We are trying to influence the future with a it will survive mind set.
I've been moving over to Virtue because of Atlas 33. I've done my share of torch holding on the courthouse steps. There's also a call going out for people on beta. But whatever community you are with, stay strong.
