Here's a quick idea:
Do you think we could convince players of other MMOs to stand vigil with us and em hold torch in other games? I think it would be a powerful media statement if other bigger name games like SWTOR or WOW studdently had players doing the same as we are doing in AP33 to show their support. Though they are likely never to experience what we are going through, I imagine at least some of the RP or more general communities sympithize with us and are willing to join our fight.
I already proposed this. Don't know what games have torches, but TOR has lightsabers and maybe that would work?
Gaia Online, while not an MMO, does have customizable avatars and torches to hold.
I was thinking about this for December. The biggest hurdle I see is getting logged off. Does any other game, particularly free, since I only pay for CoH :), have something equivalent to a task force? That is, some kind of game mechanic that prevents logging out due to inactivity?
A friend of mine has played WoW from the start. He was telling me that any kind of sustained or repetitive activity that appears to be without user control draws the attention of admins. Apparently, they had a problem with "bot" programs early on, so they started trying to engage the user of any suspicious toon in chat and would log off anyone who didn't respond. Not sure it would be an issue in any other game, but it arose in my mind when we were not getting booted from the servers for our vigil.
Doing this on other NCsoft and Nexxon games would possibly be even more powerful....
I named a couple of my ships in Eve AP 33.
On the Champion forums they are planning to host a December 1 welcoming event to all the transfers. Don't think they would hold anything before that it was mentioned that doing any event before that time could be seen in a negative light by either Players, Coh Players, or NCsoft (risk lawsuit from them).
That said they are aware the numbers on their system is growing as the deadline grows near. Given between DC and Champions it is a best guess Champions would get more.
Even after Nov. 30th, I was thinking we could sit in other NCSoft games yelling to bring CoH back or something.
Assuming we fail, that is.
