Title: My "Save City of Heroes" video is now live
Post by: TimtheEnchanter on September 25, 2012, 05:12:14 AM
http://youtu.be/pC3tseY-ic0

Do whatever you wish with it. Link it, embed it, give it to your friends. Just don't duplicate it, because the license I have for one of the songs covers ONE project only.

A little bit of a rant: I went through the bother of making "buttons" at the end of the vid, intended to give direct links to here, savecoh.com, and the petition, (since I had seen videos with clickable links before) only to find out that youtube doesn't allow urls AT ALL except to a couple of key places. Fortunately, ONE of them is change.org, so at least there's a clickable link to the petition.

edit: Also posted on the NC-CoH forums, and at CapeRadio.

Holy Crap!!! Seriously, this should be manditory watching for anyone who is feeling discouraged about our side of the fight right now.

It makes my whole Parody Song effort look like Romper Room stuff, but it did get me reved-up to get back and tighten-up my edits on it. You inspire me Tim!

I don't think there is a percentage known for how much I agree with you, just watched it and felt my chest puff out, fists clench in determination, and a wish to find out who by me seems to be cutting onions.
That video is just. Freaking. Awesome.

Awesome video! Just like the rough draft version...this one made me cry. The bf asked me why I was crying and I told him it's because of how proud I am of CoH and it's community.

This video makes me proud to be a hero in Paragon City. I think this video, the ones which have been posted by others, and the ones to come should be seen as a symbol of solidarity...and of our fight to save Paragon City. We represent different cultures, countries, states, sexual orientation, etc...but the one thing we have in common is that we are heroes...and heroes do not give up! There may be times when it seems the battle is lost...the future uncertain...but we have to remember that we will stay strong...we will stay united...and we will continue to face every battle together hand in hand...like heroes!

As I posted on YouTube in response to this: Fantastic job.

For some reason, it had me recalling the vitriol that has been spewed out over the years whenever the NGE is mentioned. I think it's a good possibility that NCSoft could be the next studio to be the focus of the righteous ire of an entire game's population, if they don't allow CoH to live on in some fashion.

Hopefully it will never get to that.

Great video!
I've liked it on youtube and also posted it on reddit (http://redd.it/10fwwy (http://redd.it/10fwwy)).
I suggest anyone who hasn't liked either yet do so, signing up for a youtube and reddit account is very pretty straightforward if you don't already have one.

Okay, I have to admit, so far I haven't gotten overly emotional about this whole thing.  Mostly, I've just been hanging on for the ride and trying to stay clear-headed in figuring out what the plan is and trying to move forward with it.  But this one got me.  (And to be fair, some of the testimonials (http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/topic,5070.0.html).)

Loved the video, Tim.  I guess it didn't really connect with me just how much more inspiring it would be to see the characters we contributed in the video until I saw Anaphylaxis stand up and raise her torch.  Very moving.

I also loved seeing TonyV walking out and lighting that first torch.  :)

Awesome.

Beyond awesome.  Beyond incredible.  Beyond amazing.  This is the most hopeful, inspiring thing I have ever seen regarding our game.  The only thing I can think of that would be more wonderful than this video is the announcement that our efforts have met with success.

Bravo!

Linked on my FB (where I have a still have contact with a lot of former players), hopefully they see this and respond.  Plus a lot of international contacts as well.  It'll be interesting to see how they respond.

I just noticed you credited me with the artwork on the flyer/banner. RockDeadman was actually the one to make it. I just did the silver and edited the text. It's his artwork. I posted it here becuase he hasn't made an account on here and he's my fiance so i can do that. It's free for everyone to use and print but i just want everyone to know that he was the artist. He said you dont have to change it i just wanted you all to know.

[2:50:47 PM] RockDeadman:meh... whatevs,,.....it's not about the credit.....

... why Youtube REALLY needs to make it possible to upload edits of a video without having to make an entirely new post. Actually I could've sworn that could be done in the first 30 days, but I can't find the function now. I was afraid something like this might happen, but to try and cover all the bases, I wouldn't have had this thing out till Christmas.  :(

I tweeted this. It is really brilliant.

Might I suggest a follow up where players talk as their main character about the impact that CoH has had on their lives. Some of us... plenty of us... have stories to tell.

And based on the responses, the video certainly seems to be having the intended effect.

And I just got tipped on the NC forums about this. It's on Massively now. To quote DJ Steel: Holy freakin' cow.  http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/09/25/fan-made-video-promotes-the-movement-to-save-city-of-heroes/

Just a quick scan of the internet over the last 24 hours shows that this video has shown up on websites in Germany, Italy, Russia, France, and all across the English speaking world.
It is generating positive responses from the gaming community (at least as far as my limited language skills and Google Translate can tell.)
Perhaps you've just given us the next push we need. Only time will tell.

I've just been doing a simple google search for "city of heroes" and obsesssively scanning through the pages. Just FYI,  countries this and other news has been popping up in...

Romania
Greece
Italy
Hungary
Brazil
India (or at least Indian focused websites)
Denmark
Norway
Belgium
New Zealand
Canada (no real surprise here Hiya Canadians!)
Germany (Zukunft!)
Indonesia
UK (How could I forget you)
Thailand
France (vive Vigilance)
Australia (hey, I mentioned NZ, you knew this would come up)
Spain
121,000 hits on a Youtube search
...and the list goes on...

Those are just the ones I have found. The point of this list is to show that the word is getting around. Even if all of these webpages are just reposting from the same 3 sources, they are reposting the ALL OVER THE WORLD.

So what if NCSoft has grabbed the spotlight with their latest announcement? We can grab it back. The world is listening. Now is the time to keep making noise.

For those of you with the talent to make videos, do it. For the musicians, sing out. For the writers, find the best words you can. Any talent, any skill, any expertise at all can be put to use here. We already know that NCSoft is not interested in supporting the game but maybe, just maybe, we can make enough noise to convince them that it would be in their best interest to let go of the property.

And, if that should fail, we can give them a PR hit hard enough to blacken their corporate eyes and make other companies take notice. "Treat your players well, even at the end." will be the buzzword. And we  will be standing in the background as if to say "...or else."

We are Heroes, This is what we do.
