Title: Heroes in need of saving
Post by: Kheprera on September 17, 2012, 09:45:54 PM
Even heroes need help  (http://wyldnytes.chipin.com/rescue-steven-and-stacy)

DJ Amethyst and DJ Nexus are close to being homeless.  Please help your fellow CoXers if you are able.

Yeah, I knew that.  Fixed.

I follow both, always confusing their names

No worries. And they do live rather close to each other, geographically. Or so I'm led to believe. ;)

Does anyone know where, approximately, that is?  I ask mostly to move this thread off the third page, but seriously, maybe money isn't all we can do.

I have no money to send myself (I'm one step away from being in their situation myself.)

But I will spread the word to people who CAN help!

I'm not sure where I fall, as I've moved my family into my mother's house, am going back to school, and have taken on a part-time job and some volunteer work (occasional Habitat stuff).  That said, I'm working on my wife to see if we can't throw something their way, as they don't seem to have the options I do.  I'm not trying to pressure or guilt anyone, but I was upset to see this had fallen to page three.  It's well above what we were able to do for our devs, which is awe-inspiring, and it appears to cover their immediate needs, but I know what it's like to be where they are.

Agreed, which is why I posted it in the first place.  I only told DJ Amethyst I'd help spread the word, but I need help doing that.  I sent her a link for the thread.

Thank you.

Thank you all so much.  We are just in awe of what folks have done thus far.

To answer the above question, we're just NW of Chicago.

Thank you Khep for continuing to spread the word, you're an angel.

*hugs you all*

I have no idea who these people are LOL, but I get paid Friday and will donate whatever I can. Since I am not going to be paying for CoH...I figure I can use my sub money to help you guys out. I hope it helps.

I popped it on my Failbook last night, and once I am slightly less broke I will also ping some money their way.

I threw in a fiver. I'll skip having lunch at a restaurant the next time I'm tempted. :)

Chipped in for the cost of a sub. The monthly CoH kind, not the Quiznos kind > >
I do not know them, but wish them the best of luck.

TOmorrow I brew coffee at home instead of hitting the shop, sending that money their way.

Already chipped in, and waiting to see what the budget looks like to see if I can manage more.

As I said - I did spread the word. I got the impression that at least one or two had dropped by and lent a hand. I just wish I could have done so personally.

I can toss in the cost of a month's sub. It's the best I can do right now...wish I could do more. I've had years like that too. :(

I feel for you both, terribly. I've been in a similar situation, due to medical bills and health issues, and it's a horrifying experience. I can't give much, but even a drop in a bucket can add up if there's a lot of drops.

You also have hopes and wishes that your future sees you happy and safe, with never another experience resembling what you're going through now ever again.

Even when this community is in a tailspin, we still rally for our family.  Just 7% left.

I sent then $10, not much, wish I can send more. I actually created a paypal account in order to help them out (been meaning to do so but I'm lazy, but now I had a pretty darn good excuse).

I'm proud of everyone here. I've been proud since we started fighting for our City and every day I get more proud as we come together and do things like this. I'm still working on figuring out logistics to chip in, myself. I don't have a lot of my own, but that's not the point. What little I have could better serve people I care about, right now.
