I saw this Youtube video and recalled that we wanted to make a presence known in Seattle, where some of the NCSoft offices are.

I think it would be AWESOME if we could get this guy endorsing us. :)
how in the world did phoenix jones not come to mind for me? i live here.....
he'd be great to get an endorsement from :)
I might suggest some slightly less controversial members of the Real World Heroes types...There's been some not-so-good press on Phoenix Jones in particular. However, it IS worth reaching out to the organization as a whole. (There is SOME organization, if I recall correctly...)
Plus, there is the whole ... fact that he does it for real and there's a good chance he'd look down on us for doing it the way we do. Could backfire? That said, he has been known to suggest that his life isn't for everyone.
He might be willing to say something anyway; I think the right approach to take would be to tell him, "We're know we're not superheroes, but it's hard to live in a world where people use their strength or money to oppress others. This community is our way of dealing with that, and now someone wants to take it away from us. We're fighting back the only way we know how, and we could really use your help."

Good in. I'd follow with mention of our own Real World Hero project--we may not be prepared to take to the streets like he does, but we do what we can.
Aw, it keeps freezing for me right after car guy meets Phoenix Jones... =/
And I think that combination would be great, Jack & Vulpy! :D
From the looks of it he owns a Comic store, or at least has some serious access to one - so I doubt he'd be all that unsympathetic to our cause.
I'm behind it in principle. Heck, my main has been Phoenix Jones since before I knew who Phoenix Jones was. I'm pretty sure that it's one of those deals where someone's character that they write about comes to life.
Bringing Real World Hero into it would be a good idea. A lot of the RLSH community does their work through charity rather than active action. I'd forgotten about his connection with a comic store, but you're right. He had to draw inspiration from somewhere and he drew it from the same place we do.
Arbiter Fabulous is a part of that community (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showpost.php?p=4366932&postcount=29). Maybe hit him up?

Sounds like a good guy to start with. ;) I think you just nominated yourself...Unless someone else here knows him better?
I sent him a PM on the official forums, If anyone else knows a better way to get in touch with him, please do. I'm going to send something to his facebook page mentioned here. (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=295846)

I do. He has a character in my group. I'll try and have a word with him. There's also this guy:

I'm not sure what his take on this whole thing is. I'm not sure if he's just trying to create publicity for the RLSH movement or if he's trying an interesting tactic to protest against it, but... he could be worth reaching out to as well?
Arbiter Fabulous / Cheshire Cat here. What do you need?
Realize that most of my work is for charity and community outreach, and as much as I love the game, using my RLSH image to promote a product is a bit Booster Gold..
However I will make an exception for this amazing community that fosters so much goodwill and charity.

"Booster Gold" - gosh, does that bring back memories! :)
Thank you, Arbiter Fabulous, for your kind and generous offer to help us out. It's very much appreciated!
That's perfect. Not only do we have a hero, we have one that actually plays the game and we have one that's not divisive, like Phoenix Jones. To be honest, all we needed was people who don't think much of what he does (and there are a lot) taking the message as a "That's what this game inspires people to do? I'm glad it's gone" - In this case, we have a spokeshero that nobody can argue against. He doesn't wander around spraying people with pepper spray. He helps people in need.
Do you know of anyone else in the RLSH community that also plays and would be willing to support the cause with you?
(also, it's totally awesome that you're Cheshire Cat - I've been an RLSH lurking fanboy for a while.)
Would anyone on this thread be willing to go to one of the rl locations of NCsoft either Austin TX, Seattle WA, and or Paragon Studios?
Someone I met on these very boards and I are trying to put together a rl rally. I'm trying to gauge interest and coordinate the effort.
@jensen010 I sent you a PM about it. I hope to hear from you soon.
So. What exactly would you like me to do to help? I have signed many a petition, tried to promote as much of the struggle to save Paragon as I can.
I'm assuming you are needing me to use my image for something.
I think (based on the conversation leading up to people asking how to reach you) that the idea was just to get some form of official endorsement for the #SaveCOH campaign. Maybe just something as simple as a soundbyte/quote.
I only jumped in when contact info came up, so does anyone want to correct that statement?

I've seen your costumes, AF, I know you can be creative. ;)
It's your IRL name/image people are looking at. Something to get media interest. "Real World Hero Strives to Save Virtual Home" Then use those media contacts you have to generate a story. Then get Paindancer to do another CNN iReport and see if we can get it on there.

Think of it less as promoting a product and more as standing up against corporate abuse of the little guy, Creator ownership, things like that.
80 people just suddenly lost their jobs. Jobs they loved. 80 people who just spent almost a decade of their life creating something now have no say in the fate of their creation.

Amen brother.
And if you need more incentive, check the Testimonials thread.

Most of his negative press, however, has been "look at this idiot that thinks he's a superhero" which isn't too far from the negative press (the so far little of it) we're getting: "look at these idiots nerdraging over a video game". Yes, he did get arrested not to long ago and was just as quickly let go cause there was video evidence that showed he was doing nothing wrong. While he is a polarizing figure, polarizing figures get attention. I understand both sides of the argument, but I don't think we should rule him out since, even though he's controversial, he can also get a hold of the spotlight.

I don't see that. Obviously, I don't know him personally, but from what I've seen of him in various interviews, I actually think he'd be quite supportive. He does what he does to get people to get involved and stand up for their community; which is exactly what we're doing. Plus, like I mentioned above, people mocked him (probably still do) the same way some are mocking us for our efforts. If he's given all the facts, just like all the other celebrities, I'd be willing to bet he'd be sympathetic to our cause. Who knows, he might even have and account with CoH.
On another note, I had to laugh at this thread. The whole thing really does seem like something I'd read in a comic. ;D
I'd like to get in touch with TonyV, how would be the best way to do that?
I'll send you a PM with some info.
