The goodness doesn't start until 50 seconds in (hey, I didn't make the video but it's still a classic). But this pretty much sums up where I am right now. Also shades of The Master Plan scene from "Iron Eagle"...

Um. I really like Viridian's pick -- Save the World (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKFmLwjLp8s), by Sweedish House Mafia. It's upbeat, catchy, and the lyrics are close to perfect.

I changed the words...
Done to the tune of "We Built This City"
We built this city, we built this city on fun and friends Built this city, we built this city on fun and friends
You might not know me or recognize my face But we all care who goes to that place Knee deep in the villains enjoying the fight Now the bad news eating up the night
Someone always playing corporation games Who cares they're always changing corporation names We just want to play here... someone stole the stage They call us unimportant.. write us off the page
You play your hero, listen for the glowies, don't you remember We built this city, we built this city on fun and friends
It's just another Sunday, on a King's Row street CEO's have got the choke hold, oh then we just lost the beat
Who counts the money underneath the bar Who rides the wrecking ball in to our avatars Don't tell us you need us, 'cos we're not a bunch of sheep Looking for Paragon, cause love of the game runs deep
(I'm looking out over that IP bridge Out on another gorgeous sunny Saturday, watching the Tsoo and Family)
Don't you remember the fun?
(It's your favorite game, in your favorite game world The city by the statue, the city that rocks, the city that never sleeps)
Boombox rocks the music, do the monkey dance, don't you remember We built this city, we built this city on fun and friends
We built this city, we built this city on fun and friends Built this city, we built this city on fun and friends

In the spirit of changing words...
Sung to the tune of "Defying Gravity" (from the Wicked soundtrack):
Something has changed within us. Something is not the same. We're not okay with someone threatening our beloved game.
Too late for second guesses. Too late to find something else. It's time to rally forces, Raise our voices and yell.
It's time to try...defying gravity. I think we'll try.... defying gravity. And they can't bring us down.
We're through accepting choices 'cuz someone says they're so. Some things we cannot change. But 'til we try, we'll never know.
Too long we've formed our friendships, made our bonds, and helped our cause. Well, if they think we'll fade out quietly, they'll be the ones at loss.
It's time we try defying gravity. Take up our capes, defying gravity. I'd sooner buy defying gravity. And they can't pull us down.
Look at us now defying gravity. We'll show 'em how we're defying gravity. They once allowed us to defy the gravity. No chance they'll hold us down.
So if you want to find us? Look over Atlas skies! For over eight years they've taught us Everyone deserves a chance to fly!
They'll think we're flying solo. But no, we're flying strong! To those who'd stop us? We'll show them they're so wrong!
It's now our TIME for defying GRAVITY! What we do BEST is defying GRAVITY! Hardly SUBLIME for defying GRAVITY And they can't bring us down.
Hold us down? Nooooooooo!

Heh, since we're doing new lyrics, here's one I put on the CoH boards yesterday:
Save the City Maybe
QuoteI found the Incarnate Well Don't ask me I'll never tell I got a Midnighter spell But it's go-ing away
I'd trade my IOs for a wish Spent all my nickles on this Wasn't looking to quit But it's go-ing away
Paragon was holdin' Fast snipe, things were fixing Mot died, Hamidon's growing Where you think you're going, baby?
Hey, I just met you And this is crazy But here's my global Save the city, maybe?
It's hard to not fight with the villains But here's my global Save the city maybe?
And all the other games Try to chase me But here's my global, Save the city, maybe?
I've got a Bots/Time mastermind We'll group for Faathim the Kind 'cause Doctor Q is too much grind But it's going away
I'll beg and sign and protest That farewell post is a jest I didn't know I'd be such a mess It's all going away
We've all got to hold on I'm sure, we can show 'em We'll fight, Tweet and YouTube Where you think you're going, baby?

Basically, all these are great music, it's impossible to choose. What we need to do, is make FMVs (Fan Music Videos) with all these great music and footage of the game or famous films and put them on the web with links to the petition and to the twitter feed. This will appeal to the fans of each music equally and make them support us.
Go make great videos !

OH MY GOD I WAS WRONG !
Listen to this: the lyrics and everything !! IT'S OUR STORY !
http://youtu.be/kfSSpkCoXxo
This is a fan girl resinging in english a japanese anime opening. So freaking spot-on it's frightening !
The lyrics:
QuoteDrowning in denial, they're racing through this city Fighting for survival, an urban Serengeti Slowly I awaken, and know that I can make it Time to show the power that's burning like a fire deep in me
And somewhere there's got to be a reason And it's something we all can believe in From their birth people search until they've found it Now the die is cast And you can't turn back You've got to reach for your dreams
I'm not afraid of failure or wounding my pride And I'm not that strong but I know I'll survive Had enough pretending, enough being weak I will find my future, and I will succeed! HERE WE GO! GO! Run like the wind and be proud If you don't look back then you'll make it somehow I've got faith in the person I am GIVE A REASON FOR LIFE And show them you can
Getting in touch with her so that I can make an inspirational video.

As for the theme to our resistance:

Queen? Did someone say Queen? I can't think of anything more fitting than "The Hero" from the Flash Gordon soundtrack:
So you feel like you ain't nobody Always needed to be somebody Put your feet on the ground, put your hand on your heart Lift your head to the stars and the world's for your taking
All you gotta do is save the world Yeea-ah!
So you feel like it's the end of the story Find it all pretty satisfactory Well, I tell you my friend This might seem like the end But the continuation is yours for the making
Yes, you're a hero! Ooh yeah!
The first verse pretty much describes why people play CoH in the first place... any regular guy or gal who wants to can be a superhero. The second verse covers our current situation (except for the part about "find(ing) it all pretty satisfactory".)

Not only are the lyrics appropriate, but the show very much parallels CoH's struggle right now; it was a show unjustly cancelled before its time, only to rise out of the ashes a few years later with the movie "Serenity." Plus, the song has a bit of a 60's-folk-protest-song feel to it, as well.

It seems that this whole movement is designed for that song. "See you in the skies, one last time." "I aim to misbehave." I've even heard "You can't take the sky from me." The theme from Firefly is absolutely perfect.

Granted, I'm a huge Firefly fan, too....
But I'm also an old school Rock and Roll kind of guy. Firefly was awesome, and unjustly killed before its time. Yet, there's always Jackson Browne....
People stay.... Just a little bit longer, We wanna play just a little bit longer, I hope your mother don't mind, And the Union don't mind, If we take a little time and we leave it all behind and sing One more song!
Oh, won't you stay? Just a little bit longer, Please, please, please, say you will, Say you will!
...Oh, won't you stay just a little bit longer, oh, Won't you stay just a little bit longer?
And your mother don't mind, And your brothers don't mind, If we take a little time and we leave it all behind and sing, One more song...!

There's a lot of love for the Firefly music. Understandably so; it was great music for a great show.
However, let's not mix our messages (if any of this music is rolled into a message). At worst, people will hear the music and think we're another wave of "Bring back Firefly!" campaigners (which we might also be, in other times and places); even for some who know that we're not, they're liable to wonder why we're using the music of another media movement for our own.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ-D4jmkUiQ
"I Still Believe" (Frank Turner)
Hear ye, hear ye Friends and Romans, countrymen Hear ye, hear ye Punks and folks and journeymen
Hear ye, hear ye My sisters and my brethren Our time is coming near
Come ye, come ye To soulless corporate circus tops Come ye, come ye To toilet circuit touring stops
Come ye, come ye To bedrooms, bars and bunker squats The sound is ringing clear
And who'd've thought that after all Something as simple As rock 'n' roll would save us all? Who'd've thought that after all It was rock n roll
[...]
And I still believe Now who'd've thought that after all Something as simple As rock 'n' roll would save us all? Now who'd've thought, after all Something so simple, something so small

I have theme songs for all my toons, and I think this one would be ideal
3 Doors Down - Citizen/Soldier https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgV6VUinDEA
Beyond the boundaries of your city's lights, Stand the heroes waiting for your cries. So many times you did not bring this on yourself, When that moment finally comes, I'll be there to help.
On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care, I'll be right here. Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair. Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered, We'll always be ready because we will always be there.
When there are people crying in the streets, When they're starving for a meal to eat, When they simply need a place to make their beds, Right here underneath my wing, You can rest your head.
On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care, I'll be right here! Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair. Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered, We'll always be ready because we will always be there...
There... there... there...
Hope and pray that you'll never need me, But rest assured I will not let you down. I'll walk beside you but you may not see me, The strongest among you may not wear a crown.
On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care, I'll be right here! On that day when you don't have the strength for the burden you bear, I'll be right here! Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair. (Citizen soldiers) Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered, We'll always be ready because we will always be there.

There is place in Cyber Space They call it Paragon And its been the home a many a hero and Devs I know I'm one
My Mother was a tailor she sewed my spandex tights my father was a Freedom Fighter down in Romero Heights
The only thing a Hero needs is purpose and a drive and the only time he's satisfied is when citizens stay alive
Oh mother's tell your children to go where I have gone Spend your lives in armor and tights In the city of Paragon
Well I got one foot in Preatoria and the other in Earth Prime I'll Defeat lord Recluse and tyrant just in time

I've had Coldplay's Viva la Vida running through my head the last hour whilst playing CoH and a loose form of parody lyrics began forming. I'd love to make it (or some revised form of it) a youtube video, but I dont have the time and I can't sing very well. I'll post it here in case anyone else can do something with it or get ideas from it.
I used to save the world Heroes united when I gave the word Now every night I just walk the streets Wondering how I'd met defeat Villains were terrified When they saw my cape in the sky Civilians would cheer my way For a Hero I was, that's what they'd say Wish I could have saved it all But my world began to fall Away from everything that I knew My Incarnates were gone, I couldn't renew
I'd fly off into the endless skyline Theme songs that I'd hear in the daytime Turn 'round and face down my ArchVillains 'Rachnos, Hellions, Crey Corporations And hope one day we can save this place From the MMOKiller Always built for solo-play And that was when I saved the day
T'was NCSoft and their C-E-O Told us we're done, we had to go Forums posting at the speed of light The worst villain we've had yet to fight As criminals roamed with pride Families crying at my side Our world itself coming to an end Oh, why was it we couldn't defend?
I'd fly off into the endless skyline Theme songs that I'd play in my downtime Turn 'round and face down my ArchVillains Nemesis, Rikti, and Cimerorans (insert new enemy groups 2nd time) If this battle should leave me slain I know Hero 1 will call my name They can't take it all away And that was when I saved the day x2
Only wish I'd thought of this sooner. Just work with me, I've never done this before. ^_^

I've been listening to this quite a bit since the "Notice of we don't care about the US/West market anymore..." Our Lady Peace - Superman's Dead (US Version w/o Clowns) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=155mR0SAISI
There's another version with Clowns & Carnies that's sort of appropriate in a kinda creepy way too. And, I should note - part of why it made my playlist was that I kept hearing that one line as: "The World's a Subway away..." = at least in Praetoria I guess, or a Monorail in Primal Earth/Paragon, that and the obvious "Superman is Dead"... and so in turn = all of the other Heroes -probably are/or would likely be- dead as well. :(

Hell the whole album could be our Theme.

I'm not really sure if this should be posted as a "theme song". However, I do think it applies to everyone here.
I was watching a Jackie Chan movie (the Medalion) and this was part of the sound track.
I thought it was appropriate. :)

I listened to so many here. This I think is it!

I Am The Doctor - Murray Gold: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5D-QPDGhCtM
Everytime I listen to it, my resolve strengthens. The imagery this song instills in me is a strong one. I picture the call going out, and our characters--never truly gone--answer. Men and women who have not been in uniform for far too long step forward into a central plaza we can't quite make out, heads held high and ready to defend their City once again. At 2:15, we slowly rise and see...the statue of Atlas, with the sun coming over it and casting light across Atlas Park, banishing the darkness and shadows. It's what we're all fighting for, and it always gets me.
Our fight is not over, and to that end, I also propose the following.
One of my "Videos I Didn't Get the Chance To Make" was actually the story of Dark Astoria, using the "Quiet" version of TDTWWWA. I might still have the rough cut somewhere...

I don't mean to say our movement is anywhere as important, but that song from Michael Jackson (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNJL6nfu__Q) nearly applies.
For those who can listen to Eurodance, E-Type Until the End (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrqR3bQMbnE) (especially the chorus) (((DISCLAIMER: I didn't find another version on the net than this AMV, Safe For Work but you may get a laugh or two from those who don't know)))

Well I will say that to me this song was appropriate. Crysis 2 used a different version of this song but to me it went along with what I felt when we first heard the news about the shut down. This one spoke to me the most: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk2A-lH2ol8
I suppose it's the theme for my feelings on the matter. and I don't expect many to agree ^^;

Hi gang. So I've been hanging onto this lil song for some time now. I think it can be something that can be sung by the whole CoH community, even if you're like me and nervous to sing in front of others. It's simple, circular and easy to sing along to (and hopefully catchy). It'd be cool if we could get a collection of everyone singing it, and overlay it onto one of the vigil videos that have been made.
Here's me singing it... be gentle. https://www.facebook.com/v/135858586571684
If someone with better musical talent who would like to improve on this - please please do :)
Thanks all.
Oops - meant to include the lyrics:
City of Heroes, city of more Please save our city Open those doors "To the skies! To the skies!" Cried all the heroes Don't let our sun set Let it rise, let us soar!
----- Righty-o then!

A Pict Song
Rome never looks where she treads, Always her heavy hooves fall On our stomachs, our hearts or our heads; And Rome never heeds when we bawl. Her sentries pass on – that is all, And we gather behind them in hordes, And plot to reconquer the Wall, With only our tongues for our swords.
We are the Little Folk – we! Too little to love or to hate. Leave us alone and you'll see How we can drag down the Great! We are the worm in the wood! We are the rot in the root! We are the germ in the blood! We are the thorn in the foot!
Mistletoe killing an oak – Rats gnawing cables in two – Moths making holes in a cloak – How they must love what they do! Yes – and we Little Folk too, We are as busy as they – Working our works out of view – Watch, and you'll see it some day!
No indeed! We are not strong, But we know Peoples that are. Yes, and we'll guide them along, To smash and destroy you in War! We shall be slaves just the same? Yes, we have always been slaves, But you – you will die of the shame, And then we shall dance on your graves!
We are the Little Folk – we! Too little to love or to hate. Leave us alone and you'll see How we can drag down the Great! We are the worm in the wood! We are the rot in the root! We are the germ in the blood! We are the thorn in the foot!

So, I searched "City of Heroes" on iTunes (trying to find an album cover for the GR soundtrak i got) and I found out that there's A band called City of Heroes. :o I don't know if anyone else knew about the group, but it surprised me. I believe they're classified as Rock/Alternative Rock.
So yeah, I just found that interesting and decided to share. Maybe it's worth looking into to help out efforts? :D

There is also a group of Power Metal called Keldian (http://www.keldian.com/), who made a song named Star Children (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJPgyAEOgX8), which could be the theme song of CoH's Kheldians ;-)
Spoiler for Star Children lyrics:
life, arise exceed existence with burning eyes believe, break free illusions of boundaries and mortality into eternity
you are not alone, you are not alone
forever in this life, we sail the sea of stars we ride the winds of light, across the cosmic night
my mind, blazing bright eternal life in frozen lattices of light I feel, I see order in chaos and destiny into eternity
you are not alone, you are not alone
forever in this life, we sail the sea of stars we ride the winds of light, across the cosmic night
firstborn, first free freed from matter, beyond all life into eternity
you are not alone...you are not alone
forever in this life, we sail the sea of stars we ride the winds of light, across the cosmic night
A too-much-fitting ballad from them: Redshift (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BXY_UKsnNI)
Spoiler for Redshift Lyrics:
So we're leaving you behind Footprints on your shores Washed away forever more Looking at you one last time As the wheel of heaven turns We are never to return
I see it in your eyes As the sky draws your gaze Did you get to say goodbye? Did you see her sad face?
Now we're leaving her behind Nothing stays the same Never to touch this ground again
I see it in your eyes As the sky draws your gaze Did you get to say goodbye? Did you see her sad face?
The planet below will soon Disappear into space And now when you close your eyes You will see us falling away
I see it in your eyes As the sky draws your gaze Did you get to say goodbye? Did you see her sad face?
The planet below will soon Disappear into space And now when you close your eyes You will see us falling away

So... I've been thinking... this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdGZBRAwW74 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdGZBRAwW74) kinda fits how I feel about other games. (Thinking of You by Katy Perry.) These are the days I wish I had demo skills. :( But no other game just comes close to CoX--and no matter how much I like a game, it just doesn't live up to City of. Lyrics as followers for people who don't prefer her music:
Thinking Of You lyrics Songwriters: Perry, Katy;
Comparisons are easily done Once you've had a taste of perfection Like an apple hanging from a tree I picked the ripest one, I still got the seed
You said move on, where do I go? I guess second best is all I will know
'Cause when I'm with him I am thinking of you (Thinking of you, thinking of you) Thinking of you, what you would do If you were the one who was spending the night (Spending the night, spending the night) Oh, I wish that I was looking into your eyes
You're like an Indian Summer in the middle of winter Like a hard candy with a surprise center How do I get better once I've had the best? You said there's tons of fish in the water, so the waters I will test
He kissed my lips, I taste your mouth, oh! (Taste your mouth) He pulled me in, I was disgusted with myself
'Cause when I'm with him I am thinking of you [ From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/k/katy-perry-lyrics/thinking-of-you-lyrics.html ] (Thinking of you, thinking of you) Thinking of you, what you would do If you were the one who was spending the night (Spending the night, spending the night) Oh, I wish that I was looking into
You're the best, and yes, I do regret How I could let myself let you go Now, now the lesson's learned I touched it, I was burned Oh, I think you should know!
'Cause when I'm with him I am thinking of you (Thinking of you, thinking of you) Thinking of you, what you would do If you were the one who was spending the night (Spending the night, spending the night) Oh, I wish that I was looking into your, your eyes Looking into your eyes, looking into your eyes
Oh, won't you walk through? And bust in the door and take me away? Oh, no more mistakes 'Cause in your eyes I'd like to stay, stay

A Man's song, finally. I didn't listen enough to Manowar before, so I knew I wasn't the one fit to bring them here, but I shall be here to salute them.
On quite another tone, I bring you... not quite a song either... The Anime moment to save CoH ? Well, one I just got chills just watching it again. I think a lot of you will lack the suspension of grown-up-ness (electron canon ? how many tons ?) necessary to just enjoy and let the moment penetrate you. It may even appeal only to those who watched the show. So may I spell forth its name: Nadia, The Secret of Blue Water.
This is the moment the New Nautilus rises from the earth after quite a beating (included for good measure), and kicks the ass of Gargoyle. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPXa_5gd__Y&t=6m29s) The Neo Atlanteans are 500lb NCSoft, Gargoyle their foul will (who or whatever it was), while he may have got the Nautilus, our game, we'll ressucitate it or have a new one and kick their posteriors with it !
(If you only want the musics of course, that also works: Beatdown (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRQGDJ4YSLM), Hope (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-9PcaqPYiQ), and finally, triumph (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91sZ8Jsu_II?t=3m) ^^)

I was going through my music folder and I found a song that I really like as the anthem for how NCSoft treated the People of Paragon City
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apeRfBmOYr0
Wrap it up - Whitey
Don't get upset, don't make a fool of yourself. Don't lose your head, please get a grip on yourself. There's nothing else you can do. There's nothing else you can do. There's nothing else you can do. There's nothing else you can do.
You may well say; how could this happen to you? You may well ask and you may not like the truth. Why is it always to you? Why is it always to you? Why is it always to you? Why does this happen to you?
(Interlude)
You may well say; how could this happen to you? You may well ask but you may not like the truth. Why is it always to you? Why is it always to you? Why is it always to you? Why does this happen to you?
So don't get upset, don't make a fool of yourself. Don't lose your head, please get a grip on yourself. There's nothing worse he can do. (He=Kim Taek-Jin) There's nothing worse they can do. (They=NCSoft) There's nothing worse they can do. There's only one thing to do. GET EVEN!

No-one But You - Kerry Ellis, the orchestral version. It may be a bit melancholy, but every single word rings with truth for the fight we're in. I know it's originally by Queen, but I find this version to be much more powerful and relevant to the situation.
A hand above the water An angel reaching for the sky Is it raining in heaven - Do you want us to cry?
And everywhere the broken-hearted On every lonely avenue No-one could reach them No-one but you
One by one Only the Good die young They're only flying too close to the sun And life goes on - Without you...
Another Tricky Situation I get to drownin' in the Blues And I find myself thinkin' Well - what would you do?
Yes! - it was such an operation Forever paying every due Hell, you made a sensation You found a way through
One by one Only the Good die young They're only flyin' too close to the sun We'll remember - Forever...
And now the party must be over I guess we'll never understand The sense of your leaving Was in the way it was planned...
So we grace another table And raise our glasses one more time There's a face at the window And i aint never, never saying goodbye...
One by one Only the Good die young They're only flyin' too close to the sun Cryin' for nothing Cryin' for no-one No-one but you

Pat Benatar - Invincible
This bloody road remains a mystery. This sudden darkness fills the air. What are we waiting for ? Won't anybody help us ? What are we waiting for ? We can't afford to be innocent Stand up and face the enemy. It's a do or die situation - we will be invincible.
This shattered dream you cannot justify. We're gonna scream until we're satisfied. What are we running for ? We've got the right to be angry. What are we running for when there's nowhere we can run to anymore ? We can't afford to be innocent Stand up and face the enemy. It's a do or die situation - we will be invincible. And with the power of conviction there is no sacrifice. It's a do or die situation - we will be invincible.
Won't anybody help us ? What are we running for when there's nowhere
