I will say what I said over there....

I am very saddened by this.  This game helped me to stay sane sometimes... and helped me meet a lot of really great people.  Dunno what to say.

I am mortified.  This came out of nowhere.  There are a ton of sets still in development that haven't even been announced that we'll probably never see now.

Big surprise -- I suspect that the Devs had no idea it was happening.  I have spent almost 8 years in the game.

Will we ever learn what was planned for "The Coming Storm?"

The back of my mind is still waiting for that April Fools reply.   :-/

o.o I thought the website got hacked at first. This is seriously not how NCsoft usually does things.

We just might. Positron mentioned something about trying to put together an "Ask the Devs ANYTHING" session on the Forums this week. Anything from the Lore Bible, future storylines, etc., and according to Posi, if there isn't an existing explanation in place for something, they'll make one up on the spot. Wonder if old-school Lore vets like Manticore might drop by with secrets only they know?

Personally I look forward to some sort of Concept Art Slide Show... Battalion, Praetorian Hamidon, zone revamps, character redesigns, if any were planned... gimme it! ALL OF IT!!

I was weirded out when they moved their Coffee chats to a new website. Cheaper?
Thought maybe they had  budget concerns....

I watched the new water powers....There was even a new guy that got hired,
software writer who developed it at paragon... Coffee Chat guys showed the effects using a Cow character.

Even before,  I remember them being given some new gaming Keyboard from a company to try out....so the coffee chat guy went through it's features.....even the people in the back ground seemed very busy at their desks.

So I'm sure this bad news was out of left field for the Devs as well as us.

i24 was in active Beta... i25 had planned reveals... there were like a dozen new powersets in active development, at least 3 full costume sets were ready(ish) for release.  It is clear that the Studio had no plans to close of its own accord at least.

Nothing to do with it, Twitch.TV is just a better platform.

I still kind of start tearing up anytime I think about it. My facebook feed is plastered with posts/links/pictures.

I love you guys. Titan folk, Titan users, and the general City populace. A tighter community I couldn't have asked for.

(What will I do with all my free time if I don't have Paragon Wiki edits to make or review?)

Truth!

I also have to go through and grab screen shots of all of the characters I have yet to get images of.

I've managed to get myself started tonight by documenting (most of) 1 out of my 38 characters on my main account (probably a few I want to grab off of my secondary account if time permits, too.)  I'm going to have to hammer away at that pretty hard for the next few weeks.

But I digress...

I've been sorta in shock since I found out.  I didn't think things were that bad that they would feel that closing down was a good call, and I'm at a loss as to the very things they said not to dwell on:  The how and the why.  As someone in the official forums said, as a paying customer I'd really like to know.

I'm going to admit I'm not a hardcore player.  I've been around since Beta, on and off, and even free-to-play has been a bit spotty.  But it isn't for lack of love for the game, oh no!  My problems have all been financial (too many freakin' med bills) and technical (sub-par PC and internet services).  But CoX is one of the last MMOs I still played with any regularity that I still enjoyed.

You guys have said it all , im shocked and feeling very sorry for myself , the friends ive made , the dev team, allso feeling a lot hate to NCsoft at this.( even if i am hearing that a 5 year contract with cryptic is up and they refuse to renew) i really hope the code for this game gets on the open market and Fan servers start, i would support  this with all my heart and money. It will be a shame to lose 7 years of game play and start again. But as long as its the COH commuity  it be worth it to start again.

We're super heroes.  Starting over with fresh characters would just be another retcon.  :)

I think this (http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/245/5/6/how_i_feel_by_firstedition-d5ddiyy.jpg) sums it up pretty well.  (Found by @IceBlitz, posted to the Triumph United page on Facebook by @Phoenix of Syrinx)

Edit:  I originally mistakenly gave credit to IceBlitz for having draw the comic.  This was incorrect and I've fixed the info above.

That comic is scary in how well it conveys my feelings and what I perceive as the state our community is in.  It's so simple but yet genius, the kind of genius I'm used to in this community.

I've been holding together fairly well despite having a lot invested in my characters and the game, but I have to admit that when I saw that comic on the forums it made me a little teary-eyed.

o_o L2 is older than CoH.. should be L3, its development cost is part of why this is happening. >_> also, its suppose to be shinier and skimpier and grinder than L2

I don't care how shiny a game is.  When the player base is asshats and the game has no heart, they can stuff it where the sun don't shine.
