Title: SG's, bases, switching alignment, and me.
Post by: LKN-351 on June 16, 2012, 08:25:53 PM
im contemplating switching all my toons to hero side.... cause redside is mostly barren on pinnacle.

all my villains are in my own personal VG and i like the name, but the base isnt nearly as developed as my hero side base (which ironically i dont like the name of)
in alignment switch i know that it locks your place in your current VG but what happens if ALL the members switch factions?
im assuming nothing happens aside from being locked out of the base itself and the name stays on the toon and anything inside the base is essentially locked inside but id like to be certain. it would be nice if the game just moved the VG over and made it a SG instead and gave you the option to coalition with other SGs but i find that unlikely.

sorry, was sorta in a rush as i posted this but i wanted to get it out here before i went to work. later tonight ill reiterate anything that doesnt make sense. for the most part i just wanna know if i can keep the name on the toon or if i should just delete it and remake it on hero side when i get the toons there.

If all of the characters in your VG are yours and no one else has any characters in the group, then you would end up with a full VG roster of characters who cannot access the base.  (And each time the current leader of your group switches alignment, that rank will be shifted to another character who is eligible to hold the title.  I don't know for certain what happens if all of them are ineligible, but I would assume it just sits on the last character who switched.)  If you ever switch a character back to the red side, they would then be able to pay rent, open the base again, and access anything you left in there when everyone switched to blue side.

What eabrace said, basically you'd be in a group by name, but accomplishing absolutely nothing. If you want to go blue side (and your butt's on Pinn :-p), then I have plenty of room for casual players. We could work to moving anything over if you wanted. OR, if you're not on Pinn, but are nice then I could help you with toon migrations so long as it's not on the VIP server.

theyre all on pinn, and i was contemplating just deleting the VG and making a new SG with the same name and doing a coalition with my other SG group so i had access to the better base.

after a bit more contemplation last night and today i may just leave my vils where they are anyways. only thing i really gain by taking them all heroside is access to hero side contacts. the time spent to migrate them all from rogues to vigilantes doesnt really seem to be quite worth it just to have different contacts and use of the blue ouro now that we got the tunnel system to add to the routes of travel.

This, to me, seems more like a loss than a gain.  Villains have a lot of the "good" contacts, IMO.

I'm afraid it's hopeless, Thirty7. No matter how many times I tell Pinnacle that redside is worth consideration, they keep saying "Anyone for Manti? I need the badge." I've taken to just saying "<standard Invader rant>" at this point. (-:

I 100% agree with both of you but unfortunately majority rules, for the most part. everything tends to go down hero side, so if i want to do anything i most generally have to either go there or move to a more populated server. neither of which are my favorite options.
yes, i think ive re-decided that im gunna leave them redside but im still contemplating the move for base storage purposes.... or possibly just creating another solo SG one side or the other.

and also Thirty7 i completely enjoy the work youve done with Corva and those pogs. :-)

You can always have the best of both worlds: move folks Rogue!  And, if you want to still get Villain Merits, you can always keep on pure villain to burn through Tips on.

It's mostly Corva's work... not me.  But thanks nonetheless.  :)

i know its mostly Corvas, but you pretty much lead on suggestions and pitch in some designs lol

lol all my toons that are of the right level are either rogue or vigilante already ;-)
the main goal was to create more base storage without having to email to myself so often/switch toons and for those times when someone ONLY has heroes and my closest lvls to theirs where unable to get missions due to alignment. lol sometimes radio missions get old.

mine goes black screen on each if I attempt it...but it runs fine enough in Safe Mode for stuff like that.

Random stuff:
* Love villain side
* Start a new free accoutt, maybe with a tiny amount of paragon points in it, and use that to 'hold' your villain SG - the free characters can join. Not sure if they can gain rank and manage the VG, anyone checked? And you'll have two slots...
** Tip: use refer a friend to refer yourself into a new account, and get 30 free days on your main account (if the free act buys a month): nett cost about nil. And do that every ninety days of freeplay <grin> the free acct gets paragon points! Plus while the free acct is VIP, make place-holder alts so you can move all your real alts on the main acct permanently hero-side. (and keep the VG roster near 15 members)

Edit: this utterly wrong: Damn! no cannot promote free/premium players

As I understand it, free players cannot pay base rent, either.

i use a free account to promote/demote and invite my toons and new rolls into my SG/VG. the free account can be ranked up and down and change settings (dont recall if the settings where limited or not, but they are both ranked as commanders)

To summarize, Freebs can't access the SG related NPC. IE: any functions that require access to said NPC aren't accessible.

"if you dont pay for the game you cant pay for your rent..."

No! Not saying that!

Stay tuned! Just about to run a full set of tests.

Please note:

If "Flunky" is the only member, simply set all permissions to full for them, and they should be able to pay rent, and more (and /sginvite others).

Bringing up my freebie acct and dualboxing all of this now.

LKN-351 is absolutely right, free and premium members can be promoted, even to Kingpin etc., and do everything.

Nasiri (Overlord) in the above is on the free account, he can invite, promote, demote, make coalitions and so on. So yeah, free and premium players can hold whatever rank they like. He's completed Tier 2 of paragon rewards. (he's a very shifty individual, am not sure you'd want him in a paragonwiki lounge, or watch your wallets!).

So: no limitations for free and premium accounts as members of Super Group?

AFAIK paying base rent is the only thing free accounts can't do.

I'm not sure if opposite faction members of a high enough rank can do that or not.

I know that the game doesn't care which registrar you talk to -- my vigilante was able to pay a hero base rent at the VG registrar in Port Oakes, but it may still cut you off if you make the full switch.

AFAIK paying base rent is the only thing free accounts can't do.
The only thing free accounts can't do is interact with the Super Group Registrar. That means creating an SG, telling the registrar to opt into a base after SG creation, paying rent, exchanging inf for prestige, and checking on the top 100 SGs on their server.

Everything else is available to free/preemie players.

Funny, normally you're taking my overtly worded explaination and making them simplified, not the reverse Aggs.  ;-)
