Hey all, TonyV here with news from the Paragon Wiki.
------------------------------------------------------------
Short version for those who want to get back to playing the game:We're moving! You can access the new site at the following url: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki (http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki). We're working on getting the paragonwiki.com domain name back, so hopefully in the not-too-distant future, the URL will be even easier to remember.
Now, the longer version... :D
------------------------------------------------------------
The Paragon Wiki joins the Titan NetworkYou might have noticed that URL is a subdomain of the Titan Network (http://cohtitan.com). That's right, we have joined the group that has brought you such #1 hits as City Info Tracker (http://cit.cohtitan.com/) (aka City Info Terminal and City Game Tracker), Red Tomax's Guide (http://coh.redtomax.com/) to City of Heroes, SuckerPunch's online and Mid's offline CoH Build Planners (http://www.cohplanner.com/), and of course, CoH Faces (http://www.cohfaces.com/).
The same Titan Key that logs you into all of the other sites also logs you into the Paragon Wiki, and vice versa. That's right, one key to rule them all! If you haven't already, get on over to register your Titan Key (http://www.cohtitan.com/key) for registered access to all Titan Network sites.
We're hoping to integrate the sites even more tightly in the future, so keep an eye out for announcements!
Note that as a consequence, any old login names/passwords you had before the Paragon Wiki moved to Wikia and any you created at Wikia
will not work to log in to the Paragon Wiki at its new location. If you already have a Titan Key username and password, it
will work to log in to the wiki. Simply go to the login page (http://wiki.cohtitan.com/w/index.php?title=Special:UserLogin) type it in, and presto!
------------------------------------------------------------
But Wikia's site is still there!Yes, it is. Because all the content is licensed under the GFDL, Wikia is well within their right to continue hosting the content, as long as it maintains the original attribution, which it does via the article history.
The administrators of the Paragon Wiki have talked long and hard about this. "Forking" the wiki is obviously a less-than-ideal solution, but the simple fact of the matter is that we have absolutely no authority to ask Wikia to take down their site, and even if we did, we wouldn't.
The content is there for
everyone to use, even you, if you're so inclined to set up your own City of Heroes wiki site. (Although, of course, we would prefer you simply use ours. ;)) We will not be updating Wikia's copy of the wiki going forward, though.
------------------------------------------------------------
So why are you moving? Isn't this going to be confusing? There are two main reasons we're moving. First, although Wikia has added some nifty navigational features, there is no opportunity for doing things like integrating the site with the Titan Network. Sure, there is integration with other wiki communities, but we'd rather have the site integrated with the
City of Heroes community. Second, we've received complaints about the ads at Wikia. We've heard, we've tried hard to resolve the issues, but we've come to an impasse in discussions on alleviating the problem.
We know that there will initially be some confusion with two wikis out there. Hopefully within a few weeks, everyone will be using the correct URLs to link to the Paragon Wiki, bookmarks to Wikia will be changed (if desired), and getting to the right place will be relatively simple. To help, I'd like to invite site administrators for other community sites to take a few minutes and update their links. Again, we're working on getting the paragonwiki.com domain names back, but wiki.cohtitan.com will continue working in any event.
------------------------------------------------------------
What about the cost of running the wiki? One of the reasons we moved the wiki to Wikia to begin with was the cost of hosting the wiki. So what's different now? Well, a few things.
Time marches on, especially in technology. We are now able to get more web hosting resources for less money, and as a result, it costs less to host the wiki today than it did a year ago when we moved.
Also, the Paragon Wiki is going to do something it hasn't done before, work off a donation model. You can find more details on the Site Support (http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Paragon_Wiki:Site_support) page. If you don't want to donate to keep the site running, don't; we'll cover the cost of running it. If you do, we'll add you to the list of Benefactors unless you request the donation to remain anonymous.
We might consider other alternatives, such as some kind of sponsorship program or something, but for now, we'll do all we can to make sure that the site stays clean and annoyance-free. We can guarantee that there will never be any annoying flash-based ads and that there will never be any advertising injected into the content of the articles.
------------------------------------------------------------
So in summary, how is this a good move again?- The site is integrated with the Titan Network; your user id and password will work across all Titan Network sites, and we are working on other ways to integrate the sites.
- All of the current administrators (http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Paragon_Wiki:Administrators) of the Paragon Wiki are moving to the new site. We will all be working hard to continue building the best community resource on the Internet.
- There is no advertising on the new site.
- The new site will once again be owned, hosted, and run exclusively by members of the City of Heroes community. After trying it both ways, we feel strongly that this is the only viable option for the Paragon Wiki.
- There are a few more reasons, nifty things we're working on that we'll be telling you about Soon™. Stay tuned!
------------------------------------------------------------
Hey, I'm trying the new address, but I'm having a problem getting to it.This is kind of a "I don't think this question will come up, but just in case..." question.
We've worked hard on making sure the new site is stable and able to serve up pages in a reliable and efficient manner. However, please keep in mind that it
is fresh off the grill, and as such, we might need to tweak the recipe a little to get the taste just right.
If you have any problems with the wiki, please post a message over at the Paragon Wiki forums (http://paragonforums.com/forums), or post a reply in this thread. The administrators will be monitoring both closely for any problem reports. Also, if there's anything you want to talk about with me personally, my real e-mail address is tonyv@pcfreepress.com and I always welcome messages from the community. (Yes, complimentary and critical messages alike.)
------------------------------------------------------------
So if I want to link to articles, what URL should I use?You can use URLs in the following format, and they'll continue to work long-term: http
://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/
Article_title. Here are some examples:
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Issue_13 (http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Issue_13)
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Emotes (http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Emotes)
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/User_talk:TonyV (http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/User_talk:TonyV)
Like I said above, we're working on getting the Paragon Wiki domain names transferred back. Until we do, links to that domain name will link to Wikia's site, and I recommend
against using it yet. (If you
do want to link to Wikia's City of Heroes site, use their http
://paragonwiki.com/wiki/
Article_name format, or else your links will likely redirect to the new site in the near future.)
Once we get the domian names back, I'll post a follow-up here and news item on the front page of the wiki, and it will be completely up to you which one you want to use. The wiki.cohtitan.com URL will continue to work.
*sets down his suitcase*
So, where should I put my stuff?
Welcome aboard guys, "officially" :)
I can't express what an honor it is having Paragon Wiki join the Titan Network. We've been hoping it would happen for a long time, and this is just great!
Thanks, SuckerPunch! We're really looking forward to more integration opportunities. I'll probably be pestering you and your e-mail box going forward with "Hey, can you please [do something for us to link with other Titan information]?" :P
Also, I posted an announcement on the official forums (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=12153131#Post12153131). You guys might want to keep an eye out for peoples' responses there also. Specifically, there's this rumor going around about the Titan Network slowly consuming everything in existence... ;D

Huzzah! We're finally here.

My accounts aren't active currently, but I'll poke Mav and Volt to go give you the official welcome over there. :)
Welcome to the Titan Network - :)

O_o
This is because of what I said in the other Thread isn't it?
*edit, yup, you posted it there too, LOL!
On a related note:
Seems Scuzzbopper's having some issues (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=general&Number=12159405&Searchpage=1&Main=12153131&Words=+Scuzzbopper&topic=&Search=true#Post12159405) with trying recover/reset a Titan Key password. Any ideas?
(Any chance that's related to this (http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/topic,1498.0.html)?)
Nah, the password reset issue has been fixed. We just never made a "Lost Your Password?" feature :-X
I replied to it, if they change their Forum Password again, it should map across to the Key Password. They just haven't changed their Pass since our fix, so they were still locked out.
Thanks eabrace!

No, that's a lie. He really has to use the change password feature on the Key Manage page. There's no code linking the other way around.
However, I"m about to push live a "forgot password" feature so if you could update him when I give the go-ahead, that'd be great.
It doesn't work the other way around, crap. Fixing that now, thanks.
www.cohtitan.com/forgot
You can now reset your password if you're locked out. Please pass that link along to him. He may have to clear his cache/cookies for the cohtitan.com domain for the new password to work, just a small caveat.
Sweet. Thanks, guys.

The Titan Key new pass won't work from forums to cohtitan, Just CoHTitan to Forums. BUT CohTitan forums has a link in the manage that forwards you off to the cohtitan manage page anyway.
Anyone else using the titan key scripts only have one door in. COHTitan.com
nice, i emailed a friend that page
she'll be happy to get back onto TN :)

Cat! We're not huge, just big-bonededed.
So do I need to reset my password if I want to be able to log in, for the first time as a new user, to the wiki? Right now it's giving me "u has rong pasw0rd" whenever I try to use my titankey at the new address login.
If you can log in to cohtitan.com or cit.cohtitan.com, then I think your password is OK from a Key standpoint. Not sure why it would be failing on the Wiki side, that's a question for Tony to check if it's on their end or ours.
Only trouble I've been having with my key up to now was more with the tnt crashing.

That means you lied to me in the Chat that one day...you said it was a two way street, I feel violated....
Having trouble logging into the wiki myself this morning.
I've gotten two types of error reports along with the failed logins.
QuoteNotice: Undefined property: SoapFault::$LoginResult in /var/www/sites/wiki.paragonforge.com/w/extensions/AuthTitan/AuthTitan.php on line 30
I dropped Tony a couple of PMs on the CoH boards to let him know. (The wiki's ParagonForums address is white-list blocked at work.)
Our SOAP Web Service is coming back up soon.
Hosting issues. SP Resolved it.
Yeah, it just dawned on me that the Wiki uses the same webservices that TNT and Herostats uses, which is causing these login issues. It should be resolved here soon.
Once again: You guys rock.
Thanks.
Awesome, I've copied your Postings to the Official Boards, SP, that way everyone stays on the same Page.
It looks like we're back up. TNT is working again. However, I'm still having issues logging into the Wiki, which is most peculiar...
Just so you guys know, I can't login to the wiki OR the Paragon Wiki Forums with my Titan key.
I'm pretty sure you won't be able to login to the Wiki forums with the Key. As far as I know that's still separate.
Not sure what's going on with the Wiki login, as our server issues have cleared.
Oh hey look at that - the Wiki is logging me in again :) Not sure what happened, but hopefully the issues have cleared.
I'm back in now, too.
Excellent work!
Welcome to Titan, and I'm glad to have you here. :]
w00t! I'm into the wiki now heheh
Wooot!!! Congratz on keeping the Titan getting even better guys!!! This is some awe-frigging-some sauce!!!
And to the Wiki guys.. welcome to Titan!!!! paragonwiki rocks!
Heh gonna have to update all my links - Ive got stuff all over the place there, but it will be great!
:) good good
It is nice to have another data source under the Titan Banner.
I think you need to revise the Titan network Home page. I know you will create the Pargon Wiki icon for the Network site section soon, but in the interm could you change the link in the "Support our Friends" link to point to the Titan address and not the wikia address.
