I think the movie is ok to me. The movie is too long but, the visuals were beautiful to look at. The movie is also a cartoon because of the CGI, story plot is basic and cliche stuff. It's that kind of a movie where you need to turn your brain off in order to enjoy it. It's not terrible.

"Not terrible." High praise indeed for a DC film.

Amazing high praise given that it's Aquaman.
It was just all kinds of terrible. It could have been worse, but only if they'd had will smith as manta and jared leto as tusky.

I had Aquaman comics and I think he was great, in.... was it Justice League of America? Saturday morning cartoons. I'd love to be Aquaman for at least a day.
It just doesn't work out where I get to watch anything new since awhile, but, sucks or not, I have to see this!

I didn't like that Hulk movie with Edward Norton at first due to I thought it was way over CGI'd but I kinda like it, now, after a few dozen viewings or so. That's about the newest comic book movie as I've seen.. Sucks, huh hehe.
My favourite animated Aquaman was the bombastic adventurer-king in Batman the Brave and the Bold. I don't recall seeing much of him in JLA/U.

He was only occasionally in them but was great, my favorite version until the outrageous! B&B version.
I liked the fact that Black Manta doesn't look like a total goof ball.
I was pretty disappointed by it.
Visually, the movie is incredibley strong - there were even some parts that were Avatar-esque level (graphically speaking, I mean). But, the story/plot, character development, and premise were all so poor that the strong graphics almost seemed like a distraction? Like they were trying to make you forget that even with all of the cool fight scenes and CGI epicness that, at its core, this was a pretty dull movie.
...And even with all the visuals, I was actually quite bored watching it. It was super vanilla and basic/cliché (as Dev7on mentioned)... and I'm sorry, but Jason Momoa was just playing a heightened version of himself the entire time. He's a lot of fun, and he's nice to look at... but he didn't become Aquaman in this film. At least not in my opinion.

So, Avatar-esque in other ways, too, then...

Hah! Ba-zing ;)
Enjoyed the characters and plots, but I did think the effects went overboard.
I wouldn't even call it a plot. It was like they thought if they just strung together enough scenes from other movies with some cgi people would automatically like it. Re the cgi I thought more about the star wars special editions than avatar but that was probably mostly because octopus drummer seemed like concentrated George Lucas to me. Shrimp gungans only reinforced that feel.

He was fantastic. The only way he could have been more like The Tick would be to cast Townsend Coleman to voice him.
