During the last four years, I've been posting Anniversary badges on Twitter. Torchbearer (9th) (https://twitter.com/leandrotlz/status/328369607096295424), Unstoppable (10th) (https://twitter.com/leandrotlz/status/460730650740260864), Perseverant (11th) (https://twitter.com/leandrotlz/status/592986384912281600) and Indomitable (12th) (https://twitter.com/leandrotlz/status/725855250662457344) were names aimed at the community as a whole, for sticking around with the game while Titan got something like Paragon Chat ready. This year, we have Paragon Chat, so the community can start picking names for the Anniversary badges.

The "rule" for anniversary badges has been that it has to be a single word, and that it should refer to something uplifting or celebratory. It was that was for the "official" 9 badges, and I'm not about to break tradition. And, of course, it can't be a badge name that already exists.

Previous anniversary badge names: Celebrant, Reveler, Pursuer/Elusive, Merrymaker, Entertainer, Jubilant, Exultant, Lucky, Rhapsodic.

Names were gathered on this thread (https://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php?topic=12530.0), and added in alphabetical order above. I culled the ones that were multiple words or don't fit the above rules. Here's the list of excluded ones and the reasons why:

Challenger (doesn't fit the theme)
Changer (doesn't fit the theme)

Luminescence (I included Luminescent instead)
Nacho Lover (not one word)
Never-Ending (not one word)
Pantsless (no)
Paragon of Justice (not one word)
Persistent (already exists)
Punisher (doesn't fit the theme)
Staunch (already exists)
Steadfast (already exists)
Teenybopper (doesn't fit the theme, not gender neutral)
Triskaidekamaniac (not a real word)
Triskaidekaphabulous (not a real word)
Tyrant (really doesn't fit the theme)
Unforgiven (doesn't fit the theme)

Words that passed the above filter but got talked out internally:

Contumacious (way too obscure a word)
Cromulent (reference to The Simpsons)
Karmic (doesn't really fit the theme)
Triskadekaphilic (focuses more on the number in the badge than the badge event)
Triskadekaphobic (as above, but also has negative connotations of fear)
Incessant (has negative connotations, used to refer to something annoying that won't stop)

@Luna, badge hunter from the Freedom server and all-around nice gal, passed away due to cancer last month. The name is only being suggested as a tribute or memorial to her, which I really don't think it's appropriate; Ascendant got an NPC in game, and if Codewalker is willing, Luna could become one as well. But if the name is allowed to go into the voting pool, her friends would feel compelled to vote for it, regardless of other names' merits.

Now go and vote! And if you can, donate to cancer research. <Bleep!> cancer.

I changed my mind and voted Communal. Thanks to whoever suggested that. It might not have the same defiant oomph as the last few badges, but it sits well next to Paragon Studios badges like Jubilant, Exultant, Lucky, and Rhapsodic.

This is the first anniversary under Paragon Chat's release, and the first anniversary badge voted on by the community. Whether Communal gets voted on or not (we all know it will be Unquenchable :D), it will always be the communal badge.

I went with Everlasting.

I think Resurgent would be good to keep in reserve for when (I hate to say "if") a working server emulator project goes live. When that happens there really will be a resurgence of the population.

Oooh, Prime.  I like it.  Probably won't win, but...

Glad to see that "Everlasting" and "Resurgent" are in the top range of votes at present, but can't really get behind "Unquenchable", which seems to be the current spot leader; sounds a bit too much like the tag line for a Pepsi ad - and we all know how those have turned out recently... :o

I still went with Unquenchable. I just like the idea that our flames still burn bright (and can now again together in Paragon)

Slightly in my defense, I became its 25th voter in an attempt to help keep Unquenchable or Resurgent from winning.

I have been pretty good about calling things like this in the past, though. 8) :P

Anniversary badges are given to everyone, whether they attend or not, and whether they've been around or not. For instance, when you first install PChat, you are automatically given Anniversary badges for the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th anniversaries.

And yes, we've been able to display badge titles for a while.

Not one of the ones I voted for, but can still get with this.  To the Paragon Chat crew: Once again, all thanks for resurrecting and maintaining at least this shade of what once was.  Very much looking forward to what 2017 continues to bring, among which, very hopefully, are operable and inhabitable bases.

I have an obligation with family in the early part of the evening, but will probably log in and hang out, keeping on with my torchbearing during that, and hop in again when I get back from that to join in the revelry! I look forward to sharing the time with all of you!

May our time in Paragon always be timeless (and timely, as it has been for me when I've needed it- and wow have I needed it lately when I've been able to visit)
