This badge needs a name!
During the last four years, I've been posting Anniversary badges on Twitter. Torchbearer (9th) (https://twitter.com/leandrotlz/status/328369607096295424), Unstoppable (10th) (https://twitter.com/leandrotlz/status/460730650740260864), Perseverant (11th) (https://twitter.com/leandrotlz/status/592986384912281600) and Indomitable (12th) (https://twitter.com/leandrotlz/status/725855250662457344) were names aimed at the community as a whole, for sticking around with the game while Titan got something like Paragon Chat ready. This year, we have Paragon Chat, so the community can start picking names for the Anniversary badges.
The "rule" for anniversary badges has been that it has to be a single word, and that it should be an adjective. It was that was for the "official" 9 badges, and I'm not about to break tradition. And, of course, it can't be a badge name that already exists.
Previous anniversary badge names: Celebrant, Reveler, Pursuer/Elusive, Merrymaker, Entertainer, Jubilant, Exultant, Lucky, Rhapsodic.
I'll gather names during the month of March; if there are many good candidates, I'll put together a list for voting in early April. The selected badge name goes to Paragon Chat in late April or early May, depending on when a update is ready.
"Fortuitous"
Lucky was already taken for the 7th anniversary.
I looked up synonyms for Lucky! Because it'll be lucky Number 13.
I found Auspicious as having qualities which inspire hope.
Celebrating the 13th anniversary should be an auspicious occasion.
Okay, scratch mine...I like the mention of Veracious in the following post by Korbian!
Everlasting
Veracious
Incessant
That's all I've got for now.
I'll just get this out of the way: Triskadekaphobic (Fear of the number 13)
and Triskadekaphilic (Liking the number 13)
Not that I expect either to win, but they had to be mentioned :)
Eternal

I like these ones all a lot :)
All I can think of at the moment is:
Steadfast
Staunch
Devoted
Thanks for likes!
Y'all don't forget to check your suggestions against the wiki! Steadfast, Staunch, Devoted, and Eternal are already existing badges, unfortunately.
Triskaidekaphabulous !
Offering Unquenchable meaning unable to satisfy.
This is awesome, Leandro! :D
(I'm going to refrain from suggestions on this one. I want to see what the community comes up with.)
Lunatic
The number 13 have a special meaning on numerology, in a short way to not bore every one with a long explanation, is all about Changes or challenges and the karma. soo my sugested names will be.
Changer
Challenger
Karmic.

If I may, if I might, suggest: Luminescence
This, for me, is a reference to a very recently departed player, Luna, who died of cancer.
It is also a reference to the hope that the community of former players bring to the game; to shining a light so many years after our game was cruelly taken from us.
The anniversary of CoH isn't just a reminder of what we had... or of what we've lost. It is an ever re-occurring notification of what the former players have accomplished; and bright shining star of what we hope to achieve.
I will toss in one that I have always thought described our community: Spirited. We were/are and will carry the City in our hearts. Thanks to those that are continuing to bring improvements to Paragon Chat which does have the Spirit of the City in it.
/e holdtorch
Prime
How about 'Resurgent' in regards to the new life Pargaon Chat has brought to the game in the last year?
Memorable
Everlasting
Nacho Lover <--- long shot!
Pantsless
Of the suggestions so far, I like Resurgent and Auspicious the best.
L'chaim! Happy Bar Mitzvah!
Teenybopper
Diaphanous (lace is the gift for 13th anniversary)
I only ever lurk here, but...
Unquenchable by Globetrotter is my favorite of all the ones suggested so far.
My suggestion: Monumental
I have my reasons.
I vote for 'Communal' since the community is what we have.
If that's too mundane, I vote for Everlasting or Resurgent
(frankly the Resurgent is because of the Resurgent Body Wash commercials on thecaperadio!)
Repressing the urge to put in the usual stupid-joke suggestions, I would, at current, be most support of Resurgent. The term, as mentioned previously by Saipaman, carries the implications of acknowledging what Paragon Chat has done (and continues to do), and what the various legacy projects may end up accomplishing for the superhero MMPOG community if they play their cards right.
Also like Korbian's Everlasting. Linked to many of the ideas already indicated and could also be seen as an expression of this community's semper fi attitude with regard to CoX's breakthroughs (technically and creatively), and its determination to see things through to a rebirth, whatever form that might take.
Timeless
Eternal
Aeonic
13th Hour Badge.
I'd toss my votes on Unquenchable or Resurgent as well.
I really like Unquenchable, too....I still thirst to be back in the game I will never stop yearning for.
Insuppressable, for the community's spirit.
I can't help it... "Unquenchable" makes me thirsty! lol
I actually think I prefer "Auspicious" or "Fortuitous", in the hopes of great things to come.
I vote for Unquenchable as well, as the spirit of the City shall never be quenched.
Alive
I have a few suggestions, if we can do multiple badge names for heroes/vig/rog/villies I say Paragon of Justice for heroes, Punisher for Vigies, Destroyer of Worlds for Rogues, and Tyrant for Villies. Why those two for Rogues and Villies and not the other way around? Cause to me, a Rogue only cares about themselves and not really anything else, Villains on the other hand wouldn't mind doing w/e it takes to carve out someplace or something they can rule over, be it a world or just an island or two. If we cannot go that route however, then my vote would be for Unquenchable too.
That's easy:
Unforsaken!

I like this...I am have a continuing desire for my one and only mmo. But more, the spirit of my friends, you my City, will never be quenched.
How about
Triskaidekamaniac!
because we are all crazy about our 13th year! ;D
Lots of good suggestions in the thread already, but I'll throw this one in:
Persistent.
Voting for Triskadekaphilic.
We only get to use that one once. Others can be reused in Year 14+. ;)
indefatigable
in·de·fat·i·ga·ble
ˌindəˈfadəɡəb(ə)l/
adjective
(of a person or their efforts) persisting tirelessly.
"an indefatigable defender of human rights"
synonyms: tireless, untiring, unflagging, unwearied;
:)
Of all the suggestions I've seen here, I'll cast my vote for Unquenchable, with Resurgent a close second.
Unforgiven
Unforsaken is good -- it would get my vote, since I feel like the Chat team members are the ones throwing us a lifeline here.
Auspcious and Resurgent are also fine choices.
Cromulent.
The "What's The Point" badge?
Felicitous
1. well chosen or suited to the circumstances.
2. pleasing and fortunate.
You know, because 13 ;D
But we still get to run around the City and the Isles in fab costumes, at least. So although 'fortunate' or 'well chosen' might not seem apt, I am thankful that we get to see the sights again and remember the good times.

Keep in mind the timeframe:
March: Come up with names. (RIGHT NOW)
April: Leandro makes a poll of the suggested names to vote upon.
Late April: The winning vote gets added to Paragon Chat.
Keep coming up with names, guys, we're less than a week left with March! :D

If folks are going to do a vote, may I suggest an ordered vote ... 5 4 3 2 1 with each person able to give 5 votes to their 1st choice, 4 votes to 2nd, etc. -- I'm generally in favor of doing that whenever voting on more than a binary choice.
Simplemachines Forum (what this forum uses): It's a simple poll. You can pick one choice per username, but until the poll closes, you can change your vote at any time.
Google Forms/SurveyMonkey/etc.: Depends. This is Leandro's baby, up to him.
I highly doubt Sekoia will let me stick a .php file in the server in order to have custom voting with forum auth, so the regular SMF poll will have to do.
Will probably set it to allow picking 3 choices and let you move them around until the poll ends, that should give enough flexibility.

I was going to put "Bruh!" but I'm sure it's not Heroic-like. Hehe ;D
- X.
triskaidekaphobic
Triskaidekasimian - something like a sequel to the film 12 Monkeys, I guess
I'm going to suggest 'Spirited' as my top choice. 13 is a spooky number; but what 'spirited' really means is lively or enthusiastic.
Backup suggestions:
But since that's the only time 'Spirited' has been mentioned, I'll go out on a limb and assume it's got slim-to-none chances of being a badge. So for my backup suggestions, I'll throw in with 'Auspicious', or even 'Triskadekaphilic' (liking the number 13).
Nope:
I can't throw in with the popular 'Unquenchable' because I fear it's getting too easy to add a word in-between 'un' or 'in' and 'able' and call it an anniversary badge.
Bear with me, here's why I can't throw in with my favorite badge suggestion, 'Resurgent' — not yet. Resurgence was the name of Issue 24 (http://www.cityofheroes.ca/news/game_updates/issue_24_overview.html), which was in Beta when the game closed. Click that link and see all the juicy stuff that was in it. Issue 25 was slated to be the Primal Earth-changing Battalion invasion, perhaps the longest-teased content in any MMORPG ever. Paragon Chat is a tremendous thing because it is the place to go to hang out with old friends. But many among the wider City community are still awaiting a game world as promised by the spiritual successors, where they can truly feel like heroes (and villains) again, one that captures City's legacy unlike anything in the market. Largely because of Issue 24, 'Resurgent' sounds like it represents that grand step and defiant return to form that City of heroes fans are capable of, but haven't yet realistically achieved despite all their commendable progress. If we award 'Resurgent' to ourselves now, for no other reason than liking the sound of it (again, it's my favorite), we can't award it later in celebration of all the developers who are working so hard to earn what is, in my opinion, the most obvious badge title after the closure.
Edit: I could easily foresee one of my Nopes winning though, and I'm happy to see the community happy.
I actually like Spirited! I vote for that. But then again, Halloween is my favorite holiday. ;D
Thanks Surelle! I also like Spirited because it reminds me of the badge's fun, celebratory roots alongside words like Jubilant, Celebrant, Reveler, Merrymaker and so on. Paragon Chat isn't for everybody, but it still represents a hefty community milestone that probably justifies celebration and a short reprieve from defiantly-themed anniversary badges.
Well if we're going to roll like that, how about Lunatic -- You've been a fan of this game for so long that some people think you might be a little . . . influenced by the moon. :D

Looks like somebody beat me to '
Spirited' and I totally missed it, even though I did go through the thread before posting. Ugh, Cap's brain! Sorry about that, Kat. /e holdtorch
And hey Lyc, down that 'Lunatic' avenue of thought, I could swear I saw somebody mention 'Moonlighter' (now I don't see it). Maybe it's less on the nose? I probably like it as much as 'Spirited'. People from other games do often accuse City fans of being extreme or nuts, but I don't think they mean it in the nice way — and I don't think they're right.
Something that bothers me is, I didn't see much participation and it's makin' me has a sad face. I think the annual badge is a pretty cool thing. I'd think people would spread the word on Facebook and Twitter and stuff; then again social media is kind of a dumpster fire these days....

Maybe it's just my mood today, but I feel like I should throw these out there whether they have anything to do with the number 13 or not...
Optimistic (Because for some reason I have the feelings good things are coming Soon™.)
Serendipitous (I dunno. Because happy chance is fun.)
Checking out "Ship of Heroes" on Kickstarter got me thinking about the Titan Forums (been a LONG time since I logged in here) and when I dropped by to check out where we are with bringing back "City of Heroes" with Nate's negotiating group (no progress since September 2014/Codewalker's "wake-me" post on February 17, 2015, I see) I stumbled across THIS thread.
I like a LOT of these suggestions, and will be very interested to see what happens when polling takes place.
My own suggestion for the 13th anniversary badge: Never-Ending.
Thank you. :)
EDIT: I had to check the exact date for Codewalker's "wake-me" post.

Every time I check back on this thread, I want to suggest that
Optimist instead of Optimistic sounds more like a traditional anniversary badge, but it turns out I'm wrong. I wasn't going to post (it feels like I'm taking over the thread at this point), but I noticed some interesting things.
Quote from: Leandro on March 10, 2017, 06:09:13 PMPrevious anniversary badge names: Celebrant, Reveler, Pursuer/Elusive, Merrymaker, Entertainer, Jubilant, Exultant, Lucky, Rhapsodic.
It's true, in the early days,
Optimist would have been in-line (Celebrant, Reveler, Pursuer, Merrymaker, Entertainer, all nouns -- seriously, Google it!).
In the later days, however,
Optimistic would have been more traditional (Jubilant, Exultant, Lucky, Rhapsodic, all adjectives).
Leandro said:

Which is incorrect. Funny enough, the first half of City's anniversary badges are nouns. The first community badge even returned to old-school nouns, although the rest have been adjectives.

I hope you enjoyed watching me give myself a grammar lesson.
Assuming nouns are a thing of the past, maybe I should have been more of an optimist regarding
Optimistic. :P
Electric: my first language is not English, so the grammar lesson is appreciated. I was referring to words that describe something a hero is doing or their state of mind. "Torchbearer" is not in the same category of nouns as "Chair", which is what I was getting at.
And that's the end of this discussion. NOW GO VOTE! (https://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php?topic=12571.0)
