With the potential of having the game back soon (tm) I was looking to see if I had the file that we were supposed to save our characters too, but I can't remember the name? Anybody here remember what it was called?

Are you talking about the sentinel files? In which case, you're too late for that?
If you used Sentinel+, you're looking for xml files. But if a high profile buyout happens I highly doubt that they will allow imports of those. There are numerous technical and logistical issues with trying to use them for a commercial relaunch that have been discussed to death before.
