Ditto.
The one thing I'll miss about this show the most is not having live threads (especially with Hickman) on the official CoH forum's CH/VC section. Those were some of the most fun I had related to CoH outside of the game.

Full Trailer released at Comic Con.
Looks like maybe they learned from their mistakes the first time around.
So Chuck is hunting and gunning down "evos".
Hey Micah's back. He's a technopath right? Last little bit was especially weird.
Correct on Micah. Good to see him back, he was always a fan favorite.
I hope the lesser episodes works in its favor.
Heroes just got more complex and crazy as it went on - almost like they were winging it most of the time to see what works.
They set up a lot of these future / alt timelines that never really got a pay off.
And I just thought the last season with the carnival was very weak.
But, could be they learned from all that and this will be a great comeback.
Heroes biggest problem was that it was a tv show written like a comic, ironically enough.
All of the craziest ideas that didn't really work on the small screen - all the crazy power ups, power downs, power 'oh, I forgot he had that power', all the retcons, all the theme changes, all the character whiplash -- none of it would have seemed out of place in a printed comic books series with a 10 or 20 year run.
Seriously. Type out every story of one of the X-Men books, including crossovers, and then read it to a non-comic book reader - or even yourself. Or even just pick ONE character and follow their arc over the past twenty or thirty years - like Magneto. "Well, he was the X-Men's enemy but then Charles Xavier left him in charge of the school until he wasn't in charge of the school anymore and took all the mutants to an asteroid which was then shot down so he went on a rampage and then ended up freeing a country of mutant slaves and becoming their leader until the country was blown up. Oh, and also there was a time in there where he was an amnesiac, and also masquerading as an alien, and depowered for a while but not for long."
Without time between each story it looks silly. With the time between stories allowing a more gradual transition most of it is a LOT better in context (most).
That is Heroes in a nutshell. Decades of comic series smushed into a four year show.
Shows that came after it understood that you have to dial back the crazy when translating to the big AND small screen. While that can be incredibly frustrating sometimes (Smallville), it's really helped keep things in a narrow enough window for more people to enjoy (Arrow, Agents of Shield, Flash - though I'm a little worried about the last one).
The Reborn trailer worries me because it STILL looks like too much is going on for a mini-series.
Hope the show does well, I was always a fan. The writer's strike during the second season really hindered the shows progress and it never really recovered from it. Maybe some of the writers were still unhappy with their settlement but the stories went downhill at that point. The villains after Sylar were not well written and were quite forgettable including main antagonists Arthur Petrelli and Samuel Sullivan. New heroes introduced were mediocre as well.
What really got me into the show was the season one tagline, "Save the cheerleader, save the world." I was curious what it meant and after falling in love with the season one characters, I stuck with it because I wanted to know what happens to each one of them. Poor Nate.
Of all the characters to bring back I would love to see Christopher Eccleston reprise his role as Claude.
Watched the prequel webisodes. Surprisingly non-awful.
My only point of critique so far is the lack of Sylar :'(
but Hiro's appearence in the trailer made me squee.
I know HRG has no powers but how did he walk away from that explosion with only a few scratches?
Ugh, any hope i had that they might've learned something from their mistakes was trashed by the pilot.

It felt like it might have been stronger without the Tokyo thread.
Yeah the tokyo thread was just ridiculous, and leads one to think they still haven't settled on a metaphysics of the powers. But given that the original series had what seemed like 15 abandoned explanations, maybe there's still room for improvement.
Quote from: Dev7on on September 26, 2015, 01:48:40 AM
Yeah, and how did Claire died from the explosion when she CAN'T DIE???????
Claire can certainly die. Her powers only regenerate her body, and come from the brain. They already showed this on the first show. If she was blown to pieces or her head was separated or her brain damaged enough or destroyed, no regeneration would be possible.
She's not Captain Jack.
Just finished watching it (thanks On Demand) and I thought it was a good pilot.
We'll see how things wrap up.

Was out of town on Thursday, so I just got to watch it late last night. I enjoyed it and I'm reserving strong judgement until we start seeing some of the pieces come together. Like a lot of people, I'm a little hesitant with the gaming storyline, but who knows maybe they'll have something interesting there. But yeah, that seems to be the weakest storyline so far. (Anyone else think that this might be a child of Hiro with someone from the past? And he's her "real" father? I'm kind of feeling it)
I'm not thrilled the Haitian was killed though. I really liked him and what he did.
I think they whole HRG surviving/Claire dying not making sense is all part of his mind wipe and what seems like plot holes may just be what he was made to believe after the wipe. (At least I hope)

I suspect the previous series characters we've seen come to bad ends are actors who couldn't commit to a full new series. Or maybe some of their characters weren't all that popular before.

I don't understand why a lot of people don't like Katana Girl's storyline. To me personally I like it. I don't mind teleporting inside of a video game. Not drawing the sword but, like Sword Art Online stuff if you know what I'm talking about. I would LOVE to be inside City of Heroes!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

It's not that I don't like the story, it's just what the hell kind of power is that supposed to be? So you have a kid that can teleport things, people that can fly, people who can read minds, and a girl who can enter a video game (which evidently maps up with the real world) but only if she pulls her father's sword that she never saw before, oh and it also gives her sword mastery and martial arts mastery even when it's sheathed. One of these things is not like the other.

Its this stuff that makes me think that its not her powers that are putting her in the game world. Its her fathers (the "programmer" of the game, the guys who's picture was on the back of the book gamer guy gave her.). I don't think her father is Hiro.
If she has powers I think its the physical abilities. My take on it is that going into and out of the game world I think comes from the sword which would come from her father. He's the one with the ability to go into the game world and someone learned how to harness that (his kidnappers). The sword is a conduit/by product of his power not hers Which would also explain why the game world is based on Tokyo. He might have made a copy of the real world in the virtual one. Which could explain how she can appear in the real world location by going through the virtual route.
Or the other theory in my head, she's not real. She /is/ Katana Girl from the game taken out of the game by her "father" as a back up plan in case something like this kidnapping happened. That might be why she's rumored in the game but no one has ever seen her before beyond art and guide books
Oh and I forgot to mention how it doesn't make sense that the first time she went in the game world she didn't move in the real world and the last time she did. Which is probably good because given the real world analogues of the in-game villains her moving the first time would mean she beheaded a bunch of real people.
Hey they built Cerebro! How about that.
I gotta say I love the actress playing Molly.
Things just got more interesting on that episode last night. So I'm guessing it's more clear that Miko is Hiro's daughter because she have his sword? Renautis made a new technology called E.P.I.C. by using Molly's power to track down Evos. It reminds me of X-Men Days of Future Past when Professor Trask developed the sentinals to hunt mutants. Maybe Hiro will go back in time and save Molly. Lol
Sounds like as good an explanation as any.
It's actually been better than I expected so far. :D
I was avoiding this, then I was persuaded to give it a shot and I'm surprised that it's not bad so far.
I really like everything. However, I feel like I'm watching two different shows - Heroes and some game-crossover show. I hope they tie the game to the rest of it soon, otherwise it's just a waste of money on bad graphics.
Since Molly killed herself we can't find out how Claire died! Now I'm frustrated! >:( I hope Hiro will tell Noah what happen. He's the only person alive who knows about June 13.
[I think that's the spoiler if not then, I don't know.]

I wanna know how she got access to post-I24 to be a wind control/nature affinity.
I'm guessing the teleporting kid will be needed to bring that girl around the world very quickly to do whatever she does.
Or they find Ando and have him supercharge Tommy and have him teleport the Earth out of the way of the flare!
Still waiting for Parkman to show up. I guess we finally see Hiro next week.
So Renautus is digitizing the world to save it from a solar flare?

I didn't say she couldn't do anything else, it's just her butterfly-thawing powers don't have anything to do with solar flares. You asked about solar flares. I gave a response about solar flares. The arctic girl plays with auroras with seemingly no effort, thus she probably can maybe...divert? diminish? destroy?...a more deadly solar flare if she uses more power.

I never remembered any of their names while watching the original series at normal speed (with the exception of the main characters). Then again there are people I've spoken to weekly for years without remembering their name so maybe it's just me. But seriously some of the ones Mandu remembered have barely had their names mentioned.

I read all the x-series back in the 80s. Compared to that this is nothing.
But I admit I had to look up Malina.
I'm pretty sure i could rattle off the names of more marauders than heroes reborn characters :P

But at least Hiro is back ;D
So Renautes trapped Hiro inside Evernow and Miko aka Katana Girl was the only person to save him. So I'm guessing it's confirmed that she really is Hiro's daughter? However, they was saying that Miko didn't exist? She was just a program?? Quentin's sister went crazy on everybody with her Umbralkinesis aka Darkness Control! I didn't like that she killed him though....... and I was right when Hiro took Noah back to June 13 to see what happen. But, I have a series of questions what they're going to do next. Are they going to save Claire? Is Claire is going to make a special appearance even though Hayden isn't coming back? Is it going to be a different actress to replace her?? How are they going to change history when Hiro warned Naoh that it's dangerous to do it???????? How do you kill Harris without him cloning himself? He's starting to be very annoying.
Forget the past, save the future??

I think we will find out how Noah got through the blast and why he wiped his memory.
It will be a closed time loop - Hiro always takes the future Noah back to the past. He manages to meet his past self and save him from being killed in the blast , but then the future Noah arranges to have his past self's memory erased otherwise he would know everything that would happen in the next year and things will just be more screwed up.
When Noah watched the old footage from he security monitors in the other episode - he noticed the time jumps. He figured Hiro was there. I think that was them from the future (their present) in the room and Hiro was stopping time to do whatever he needs to do.

I had to watch that episode twice to understand. Yes that is total B.S. that Claire died from child birth but, I just figure out who the twins are.
Ok I just want say that when the producers wanted to kill off Claire from the show they SHOULD have made a better death. Like Noah said that her soft spot is the back of her head which stops her from regenerating. They could just have someone decapitate her. That would be a good death and it would make sense. 8)

I like it. A lot of times with the old series I would find myself thinking "Well that doesn't make sense because if this happened then that would happen" but with this incarnation I find myself realizing why various things happened. In other words the writers actually plotted out the story arc and how things interlinked.
Claire isn't dead though. There was just something in that room suppressing her power. It was most likely shadow girl. This is obvious because when Hiro tried to beam himself and Noah out of the room they just faded in and out but weren't able to actually time travel. I suppose this is one example of the idiot ball so far this series. The moment they couldn't teleport Noah should have figured out that power suppression was going on and taken Claire out of the room. I suppose it's possible he did and they just haven't shown it yet.

Claire is "dead" because the actress is one of the major stars of a much bigger TV show right now. She is not going to leave the money train of "Nashville" to go back to Heroes. That's just how it is. There may be, and this is a BIG maybe, a chance to get a brief cameo. But, if I was the production company that makes Nashville, there is no way I'd let her do even that...
So, yeah, Claire is dead. And will stay that way unless this Heroes Reborn lasts longer than Nashville.
It's funny how Claire was the big lynchpin in the first series, was the one who started the whole world being aware of Evo's at the end of the 4th season, and now, without even being in it, is the whole underlying reason for what is going on.
Well, now we know how Claire could have died; unfortunately for her, nothing could have been done. And I finally have an answer to what the deal is with that briefcase full of pennies:
A silly gimmick.

HOLY COW THAT WAS A GOOD EPISODE LAST NIGHT!!! So Nathan can absorb/siphon people's powers but, can only absorb one power at a time. He absorbed Claire's powers during birth [which explains Claire's death.] Then, he absorbed Hiro's powers while he teleported him back in 1999 to mature faster. [Which also explains how he got the teleporting power.] When Angela said that he's a Petrelli I think he probably got that trait from Peter. I think I know who is the father of the twins: "this is just a theory"

Its a combination of Peter's new power and Arthur's. Arthur actually took people's powers away and Peter could only hold one power at a time after he regained them from the serum.
It's possible Nathan could time travel also and just doesn't know it.

Well Noah stepped on a lot of butterfly's in the past, and future Noah specifically said NOT to use Rene to wipe his memory but the other guy. So this way Rene wouldn't be involved and have had to come after him to kill him, which is why he is still there. And that guys sister has the same power as Rene except she can stop powers in a radius rather then Rene being only able to do one person. maybe two.
As for Miko in the future - they were using Hiro's powers to transport people in time. I assume that its that base in the future.
I am wondering if that really was Parkman. He didn't seem that much of an ass in the past when he let Noah get away.
Maybe he is being controlled or was reprogrammed by someone. Or maybe having Sylar in his head for a some episodes in season 4 messed with his mind or judgement.
I liked him a lot in the original show and to see him like this is just unsettling.
It's funny that Matt Parkman is acting like Mother Mayhem in City of Heroes where she captured the Resistance and put them in the Behavioral Adjustment Facility [B.A.F] and The Mother of Mercy Psychiatric Hospital being brainwashed against their own will.
Mind of Mayhem trial forming pst for invite. ;D
Well. Parkman is still a dick.
Too bad its a short series. I'd like to find out how he became such a douche.

LOL! Blame Renautis they're the ones who did that to him. Noah is being a douchebag to Luke. All he wanted is to help Malina fulfill her destiny. If I was Noah I will say "Yes." What bothered me is that Malina didn't speak up. I would do the same.
Noah has no reason to trust the guy, and plenty of reason not to.

On that note, someone needs to kill the whole show...
Gah! It's like they took everything great about the original and purposefully left every bit of it out, and took everything bad and made sure to heap extra mounds of it all over the show like syrup on a pancake...
Mmmmm... pancakes. Bye.
What also bothered me is that Nathan was everywhere. Last episode it showed him teleported Noah to somewhere. Then, this episode showed him back in the future with Katana Girl [and I thought they went back to the present after she found him and I thought Nathan left Erika in the future which could have been a great idea.] And then, Nathan was sitting at the Teleporting Machine and when Micha did the live broadcast it showed him in the building with his mother and his sort of girlfriend! I understand he has teleporting powers but, it just seem random.................. ???
Has it been proven that teleporting is his main power, or is that just a Necessary Secondary Mutation to support his photobombing ability?

Great idea for a new super villain. His only power is teleport. He calls himself... The Mad Photo-Bomber.
Hey, DC/Marvel... I get the copyright!
WooHoo!

LOL - I was thinking the same. Watching the new episode I really wanted someone to shoot him in the face.
I keep waiting for them to show its not really him or his mind was controlled somehow.

The 'charm' if you will of the first show was the heroes were a small group and low profile. This one has like every other person an Evo and with world wide exposure and the evil person trying to kill all of them - it became a 2nd rate X-Men rip-off.
This new Heroes show blows.. It disgraces the memory of the original.

Yeah. I had high hopes because I read interviews that they learned a lesson from the first series. Apparently not.

Oh, and here it was thinking the secret to the original is it had fun, interesting characters, and the problem with the current show is that every character on it is a prat.

i thought the original was awful too, though the first season was deceiving because you at least felt like it was leading somewhere. now we're not going to fall for that again, but this one doesn't strike me as any worse than the original.
phoebe is really starting to bother me. where in the going goth handbook does it say to stop washing your hair?

It should have gone somewhere. Unfortunately, Sylar was so great that they couldn't kill the character, so they had to wuss-out the ending.
And then there was the writer strike that shortened the other good season, so that ending was a wuss-out too.
And Sylar got so popular they felt they had to make him a "good-guy," thus completely destroying what most people enjoyed most about the character...
etc.

If you have the DVD for the second season it has tons of footage shot for episodes that never got finished because of the strike and the original ending where the virus is released and Nathan is the first to die from it. That could have made the third season very different from what we got.
Sylar steals a power that gives him invulnerable skin. So right there that would have been a huge change going forward.
I though it just went off the rails with the 4th season.
Well 2 more episodes and it'll be put out of its misery for good. or until the next time nbc forgets.

I was really looking forward to this, and it became another mess.
maybe you and nbc will have coordinated forgetfulness and you can look forward to it again one day.
Personally, I've enjoyed it. More than most of the rest of Heroes, in any case.

YEESSS Matt Parkman is going to die YEESSS!!! We finally get to see Erika's background but, I still don't have sympathy for her. Nathan [master of time & space] trapped inside Evernow again...so I guess Ren is going to play the game to free him. Where was Noah at the whole time? And finally Luke killed his wife.
Finale is going up against the Legends of Tomorrow premiere. Will be interested to see just how badly that goes for HR.

I have a bad feeling Matt will survive, even though he really deserves it.
They are leaving a lot for the last episode to wrap up.
I just hope someone gets Phoebe before this is all over. Hate her as much as Parkman.

You're right Phoebe is more of a douche than Matt.
I have enjoyed the show and I plan on watching the finale this Thursday and "on Demand" Legends of Tomorrow (which I will start watching "live" next week).
Well that's finally over.
Who was their father anyway? I'm assuming it was also someone with powers.

That was a fantastic ending! I didn't mind Noah dying at all. I think the whole story plot made total sense. And like I said Syler could be the father.
What's up with Quentin being arrested? He didn't do anything.

I guess he was involved with the Evos. And like the X-Men - even though they saved the world, people still don't trust them.
They also left open Parkman's fate.
Also was that lady in the future wiped out or stranded when the future was changed?
I am hoping stranded as that would be worse IMO.

I am going to say stranded.
However, I did have ONE major problem with the ending. Instead of Noah sacrficing himself, and the woman being left in the future, they should have popped her in-between the two kids and used her as the focal-point.
But, I understand the way it was written. More emotional story.

I thought they were going to use that duplicate of Tom...er Nathan.
For a brief second I was hoping Noah might have been an Evo all along and lived.
I enjoyed the whole series. I am looking forward to getting it on Netflix or buying the Blu-Ray. I know that watching it without commercials will make it 100% better. Ok, maybe 75%.
i wonder if that payoff of 'save the cheerleader save the world' was just because hayden panettiere wasn't available or if she was always meant to be a padme-style magic uterus.
kind of weird setting up a next chapter in a cancelled show. maybe kring thinks one of the online outlets will pick it up.

Or he's just giving himself an opening for the next time NBC says, "Hey, it's been a few years. Want to give Heroes another shot?"
So I finally finished watching Heroes Reborn.
All in all, I think it held up remarkably well for a Heroes Universe storyline. They explained some of the plot holes I expected the show to have and they gave us a decent ending. Not the best show ever, but a pretty solid job for that franchise.
I got my Blu-ray version of the series and I got to say, it is so much better than broadcast tv. You can still see the breaks but at least there isn't 5 minutes of commercials playing every 3-5 minutes. I am happy I bought it and I do recommend a watch now that the commercials are gone.

I honestly don't think that will help it get any better.
I really was looking forward to this as I like the first series, even though it spiraled down with every new season.
But except for a few nice cameos and touches - it got to be a confusing mess just like the original by the end.
Then throwing in the sub plot that the head lady was only evil because she was abused as a child. So cliché.

Legends of Tomorrow smacks of a show that started out as a limited series (maybe 6 episodes) that had to pad when they were given more episodes.
I thought LoT was meant to be a mid-season re-run replacement for Arrow (or Flash) in the way Agent Carter is for Agents of SHIELD.
