Goodbye, Yvonne Craig

Yvonne Joyce Craig, who played Barbara Gordon/Batgirl during the live-action Batman TV series' third season in 1967-68, died August 17th of breast cancer at the age of 78. She also played Marta, the Orion slave girl in the classic Star Trek episode, "Whom Gods Destroy".

Her Batgirl was one of my first head-over-heels crushes (I adored her, even as a pre-teen), so it's really hard to write this.

When Leonard Nimoy died, MeTV's weekend shows featured his episodes, including "Amok Time" on Star Trek. I hope that they have an hour of Yvonne's Batgirl on Batman this weekend, as well as her appearances on Star Trek, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Big Valley, The Mod Squad and Emergency, and in various movies. (Yes, I went through her IMDB page, trying to build a tribute weekend to her.)

MeTV's website confirms that this weekend's hour of Batman will, indeed, feature Batgirl.

Same here about crushes.  Now I feel very old ... and mortal.

I'm at the age where many of the actors I grew up with on TV as a child are all in their late 60's and 70's.

It's sad to see so many that we lost just this year.

UPDATE: According to my on-screen cable-TV schedule for Saturday night, MeTV is also showing Yvonne's Star Trek episode, "Whom Gods Destroy", in addition to her being on Batman.
