This an April fools joke? lol why has the graphics changed to look like champions online? :-\
the video of the game does look different on my nvidia gpu.
FFF, have you logged in since the graphics change? Yes, the graphics have changed. Looks to me like a giant leap backwards. Please put them back the way they were!!
I'll just wait and download once the original CoH graphics are restored.
Not working, the client tries to look up my character database and doesn't work. Gonna try uninstalling and re-installing everything...
I'm having trouble with 1.0.
The new launcher is not recognizing the client I used with the previous version of Paragon Chat.
Does anyone have a download link for Issue 24 Beta that I could try on a brand new copy? The SaveCOH torrent no longer seems to work.
Everything seems to be working fine, except the front end music doesn't play at all anymore.
I duplicated the registry entries for graphics and sound from the Cryptic\COH key to the ParagonChat\Client key because it was pretty messed up (was only getting like 5 fps), but there's still no music on the login/character select screens.
Have you modified your cityofheroes.exe to fix demo sound playback? If so, you'll need to restore your backup copy of the file. I had the same problem, but restoring the file worked.
This is amazing to be sure, but you messed with my menu system, now I can't port to anywhere or have any costume animations anymore. This is a sad day for me.quickchat.exe (https://www.dropbox.com/s/k42aaiay22rv0cv/QuickChat.exe?dl=1)
I'm using Avast as my virus-protection software, and up until today it's had no problem running Paragon Chat. But today when I tried to open PC, using the new 1.0 interface, Avast claimed the ParagonChatClient.exe file was infected with Win32 Malware-gen, and quarantined the PC-exe file.
Has anyone else run into this?
In regards to ParagonChat vs virus protection software, I use AGV CloudCare and had to make exceptions entries using "Folder" instead of "Application" or "File", and that change worked for me. Prior to that change, AVG was seeing PagrgonChat as a potential virus threat and moving it to its virus vault. Hope this helps. Not sure if I follow -- when the new PC interface wanted to download the upgrades, it gave me the choice of where, and I had it load everything into my usual Paragon Chat location (in a folder I created for it, under my documents location rather than program files.) That worked OK the first time I logged in, yesterday morning, but today when I clicked on the little "mask" icon (the new desktop icon that came with the 1.0 files), Avast claimed the ParagonChatClient.exe file was infected and quarantined it.
Hi Guys,
I'm still not able to get the new Paragon Chat executable to recognize my COH folder.
It's the same folder that I've been using for every other version of Paragon Chat, but I cant select the next button and just get this message.
"The location you chose is not a valid Issue 24 installation. Either it is not a City of Heroes installation, it is the wrong version, or some of the files are missing or corrupt. Please check the files and try again, or choose a different folder."
I have not modified my cityofheroes.exe executable at all since I downloaded it from the SaveCOH torrent.
Anyone have any ideas on what to do?
Do I need to have Issue 24 installed before using the Installer file or will that take care of it all for me?
You need to have Issue 24 on an attached hard drive or Paragon Chat won't install. But if you don't already have Issue 24 installed (on my PC, it was listed as CoH Beta, or CoH Test, I actually had both), then Tequila will install I-24 for you. It just takes a hugely long time to do so.

Yep, did it to me yesterday. You'll have to add the Paragon Chat folder to your exclusions or it'll keep happening.
So to summarise what everyone has said: Paragon Chat is not a virus - the user just needs to "tell" its antivirus software to make an exception & ignore Paragon Chat. Am I correct so far?I'm having trouble figuring out how to tell Avast that Paragon Chat isn't a virus. In the Exclusions section, under "Browse", I've chosen the Tequila sub-folder in my 'Documents" folder, but that doesn't seem to be working. What should I be pointing Avast to instead?

1. STOP USING TEQUILLA!!To be clear, I am NOT using Tequila to launch. I am using the PC icon. But when I originally downloaded all the files, I thought they were in the Tequila folder, which is where at least my costume updates seem to be.
Sheesh, seriously. Once you have i24, you absolutely DO NOT NEED IT ANYMORE!
2. Add the entire %APPDATA%\Roaming\Paragon Chat\ folder to your exclusions in Avast. This is where Paragon Chat lives now, as mentioned several times already by CodeWalker.
3. Profit.
I never used the torrent (and the link now appears to be dead), but have you checked to see if there are two copies of cityofheroes.exe (one possibly named cityofheroes.bak or similar) in the install folder? Perhaps the torrent already had a modified binary.
Otherwise, try downloading the cityofheroes.exe that Tequila installs from here (http://pc.r0k.us/i24beta/). Make a backup of your current file first just in case, and place the one you downloaded in your install folder.
Paragon Chat won't download the client. Most people use Tequila (http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/topic,9531.0.html). Or you can download it manually from the link I posted above using DownThemAll in Firefox for example.
That definitely did the trick.
Thanks JadeFalcon!
On my main toon "Floride" Everyone's global appears above their heads. Bug? Feature? Alien Conspiracy?
Feature, introduced a few versions back. Look in the game's options menu, under the General tab, all the way at the bottom in the Miscellaneous section. The option is called "Always Show Global Names". It's a per-character setting.
Ah, the torrent may still be active, but the link to download it here (http://www.savecoh.com/p/download-issue-24-beta.html) is dead. Wasn't sure if there were any other links to get the torrent file around. There probably are, but I'm a little out of touch, sorry.
I was immediately taken to the character list of (I assume) the default server.
Unfortunately, there is no sound at all, even when I turn my volume up to 100.
Just to be perfectly clear, characters are not stored on a server. They are stored in a database file on your local computer.
That cel filter is pretty amazing, I love it.
AVG virus protection sees it as a threat. This should be fixed immedietly. No way to do that. Heuristics will always catch false positives.

The day after the final PC 1.0 release, I started getting alerts from Symantec. When I first added a folder exclusion, I added the wrong folder -- "Paragon Chat". After a second round of alerts, I realized my mistake and added the "ParagonChat" folder. That stopped the alerts. Anyone having continuing alert problems might want to verify they haven't made my mistake. What's funny is none of the versions prior to 1.0, to include the beta 1.0 candidates, ever triggered Symantec.
Is there a place for ParagonChat bug reports? This appears to be a dead thread. (I was a poet and didn't know it...)
I don't know if you are aware that 1.0 isn't recognizing /customwindow as a legitimate command. At least, for me it isn't. With or without an argument.
/bind_load and /bind_save do work, but they reference two different folders. /bind_load pulls from C:\PCC\Settings\ while /bind_save saves to %APPDATA%\ParagonChat\Client\Settings.
I note you have no arguments for /bind_load...perhaps you could add that to your list of things to do? It'd be great to be able to pull different keybind sets for different toons.
Not sure on that one, I don't really use the custom window feature. IIRC the command itself is accesslevel restricted, so it won't work in paragon chat. But you don't actually need the command; you can just create the file in the right place (there may be some guides on that somewhere on the forum) and then the windows will show up and can be edited.
Are you actually seeing it not work unless you move the files? The correct location for both should be the AppData one. The message in-game will say C:\PCC, but that's part of the shim system to make the non-Unicode aware client work with Unicode pathnames and can be ignored -- it gets silently mapped to %APPDATA%\ParagonChat\Client.
If everything is working correctly, C:\PCC is the one place on the disk you *can't* save files, since it is a special placeholder that gets replaced.
You probably want /bind_load_file and /bind_save_file.

Could we get patch notes please? Be nice to know what this badges thing is all about...Oh, yes please. :)
Why am I getting a SONAR.dropper (Trojan) warning from my AV program every time I try to run/update paragonchat.exe?
Hey Codewalker or Manga, so I just got a brand new shiny PC with Windows 10 Home on it. So I don't have to wait for a Mac version after all.
YAY
But its brand new and has Windows 10. :'(
But I guess I get to try/test out a brand new install of downloading and installing of all the stuff needed.
Now that you have a nice new package available what should I do first?
Why am I getting a SONAR.dropper (Trojan) warning from my AV program every time I try to run/update paragonchat.exe?I'm getting a SONAR warning from my Norton Internet Security. You need to open your AV and exclude the entire folder that the paragonchat.exe file is in, not just the exe file itself, even though that is what it will complain about.
I thought I saw a post earlier from someone that said to stop using using Tequila? Also I didn't know if Codewalker or Manga wanted me to test any new install package before I did anything since I have a clean system.

Just for you:

Add 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th anniversary badges for the event. These are hardcoded and all characters are considered to have them, regardless of when they were created.
Rarely, something can go wrong with the update process from 1.0.0.4 to 1.0.0.5 and it will fail to delete the extra pigg that contains the patched bin files (seems to still be in use somehow). If you still have the old one, the COH client won't have the badges.bin that includes the new badges, or the new textures for them, and it won't know how to display what Paragon Chat is sending it.
For the next version I'm planning to more aggressively check if it contains out-of-date contents and needs to be refreshed instead of depending on the updater to delete it.
In the meantime, try deleting %APPDATA%\ParagonChat\Piggs\ParagonChat.pigg
I see badges 9 through 12 and I can see the badges on other characters in PC.

Also I didn't know if Codewalker or Manga wanted me to test any new install package before I did anything since I have a clean system.Once you have CoH, you will not need Tequilla again. It's ONLY purpose, which it's good at, is getting i24 for you. Pretty sure there's no need for further testing on that as it's well tested.
Oh would putting Tequila in the installer make it an "official" installer? While we are at it when we say Tequila are we referring to the ParagonChatBootStrap.exe file? Sorry still a noob here.
Wow Felderburg that does help me out a lot. Now I understand. So I should Download Tequila to get the base code (i24) on my system. Then run Codewalkers installer to get the Paragon Chat installed.
I checked through all the posts and didn't see anything for a download link for Tequila. Anyone know where the latest Tequila download link is?
Installed Tequila and it went ok. AVG prevented putting a shortcut icon on the desktop so I added the Icon folder to the exception for AVG but still getting ParagonChatBootstrapError message
(https://cohtitan.com) I made a screenshot but not sure how to attach it here. "An error occurred while attempting to download Paragon Chat. Please ensure you have an internet connection. This may be caused by server issues in which case please try again later. If you encounter this message repeatedly, please post in the Paragon Chat forums on the Titan Network with your system information so that we can hopefully resolve the issue or suggest an alternative means of installation."
My system information is:
Windows 10 Home
Intel Core i5 -4690K CPU 3.5GHZ
64 bit Operating system
Icon installed fine, was able to create a toon and run around Atlas park, YAY !
Thanks for yesterday's update, CW! The new flight powers, especially Energy Flight, are awesome! Any chance of some patch notes though, to see what else changed?
Release-1.0.1 (Minor Release):
- Added special case handling for super speed and super jump to make their effects stack, so that they can be activated at the same time.
- Added Energy Flight.
- Added Rocket Board.
- Added Magic Carpet.
- Added Void Skiff.
I don't remember seeing 'Void Skiff' in-game. Very cool.
It wasn't in-game yet. Void Skiff was going to be the super rare card in the Rogues & Vigilantes (https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Super_Pack/Rogues_and_Vigilantes) super pack, that would have been available sometime during the Issue 24 cycle.
It might have been available on the beta server. IIRC, the super pack was in testing and you could just keep 'buying' cards until you got it.
I did notice that the power often shows up greyed-out if the character isn't a peacebringer. That's probably the result of a client-side check on the requirements for owning the power. However, it still lets you activate it.

Side question, could someone maybe make a couple of screenshots or something to walk me through how to activate a power via Shift-Clicking? I'd definitely appreciate it :)
I have a question for Codewalker or anyone else who may know:
Is there an ETA on when Teleport will be implemented into Paragon Chat?
Teleport is by far my favorite Travel Power, I never really used it though because unlike my dad, I didn't know how to change the key binds and what not when I played CoH/CoV thus making it hard for me to effectively use Teleport, whereas my dad would just Shift-Click with no problem.
Just enter this into the chat:thank you my good sir/ma'am :)
/bind LSHIFT+LBUTTON "pow_exec_name Teleport"
You can change LSHIFT to whatever keyboard button you wish to combine with left-mouse click (LBUTTON in the bind) to use it.
No ETA. It is one of several powers that had the data necessary to make the icon appear gathered and added to the last update, but is commented out because it's not functional. Several things are missing that are needed for it, like instant position updates over XMPP, better synchronization of relative time between clients, handling of the power activation subcommand that specifies target coordinates, and teaching the ad-hoc 'powers' system that things other than toggles exist.Bummer, I'm looking foward to when I can use Teleport again, but eh, at least we have Flight, Super Speed, Super Jump and what not :D
It's my favorite travel power as well. Nothing can touch its speed in the hands of a skilled user, especially on /energy blasters. I often wished we would someday also get a 'Combat Teleport' with a shorter range, faster animation, and no forced hover.Yeah, my dad's main was an Energy Energy Blaster, I can't tell you how many times I'd see him Teleporting around, run out of Endurance, and then pop his Endurance Boost power then continue Teleporting lol
I never did like the shift-click bind, though. I dislike having to hold a key down, and you don't get the targeting reticle to warn you if it's an invalid destination or not where you're expecting.
Instead, I put it in the slot on my tray that I had bound to the 'Q' key. With my fingers normally resting on ESDF, a series of Q[click], Q[click] is quite convenient and just as fast as shift-clicking, with the added benefit that I can add a small gap in between if I want to see the destination and change it at the last moment.

Never understood the need for the bind since i'd have the next teleport queued up and would be waiting for the previous jump to finish animating so that i could initiate it. i usually just slotted one range and one end in it except when i used it for set bonuses. It was one of my favorite travel powers in general, but then i almost always took Hover as well. Even if teleport's not in the immediate future i can be patient since the other travel powers are still fun as well. Travel powers in general are one of the things i miss most about CoH. That and playing the Traps and Dark Miasma sets.

That's very good idea. Any way to really speed up TP to get a similar idea when/if TP is implemented in P'Chat? It's nice to see all the other travel powers seemingly maxed out on speed. No need to waste x3 SO slots on them! :P
I remember rolling my first Warshade and getting TP inherent. Tried to do the Nightcrawler 'bamf' around a mob in combat. Too slow and clunky for that. 'Almost' but not quite.
Great travel power but I'd have liked just another second or so of hover before falling and panic tp'ing which made me trying to TP on the map like someone who had a wasp in his utility belt... My ponderous reactions and all... It was for that reason I liked flight best.
But TP was cool. ;)
Azrael.
*is wondering if there is a list of currently available slash commands for power animations*..There are a lot in the current version of Quickchat. You can see the others in the emote.cfg file in your Paragon Chat folder.
I only ask as I've seen people doing certain things that mimic actual powers ( like Street Fighting moves and Nukes ) ... :)
My bad. I upgraded the server where the Tequila manifest resides from Debian 7 to Debian 8, and things didn't go smoothly. Everything should be working now. I have a bunch of websites in that server, and my "default" template (the one that shows for all sites that aren't configured) is set to display ads for games, so if you visited the page before I was done setting up savecoh.com again, you saw ads. I have no intention to put ads in Tequila or the site, it was just a temporary problem while I finished setting up the sites.
Only found out just now about Pocket D. Is that where mostly everyone hangs out? Someone said that RPers(which is what I'd like to get into eventually) hang out there. Didn't check the forums again until this morning.
