Do we have any Dr. Who Fans out here? Its without a doubt one of my favorite Sci-Fi series ever and by far one of my favorite t.v shows!
Matt Smith, David Tennent, William Heartnel are my favs!
I am also getting a Tardis Mini Fridge that can hold up to a six pack of soda or you can flip the wibbly wobbly to invert the Thermo Flux Coils to invert the temperature control to Warming and heating instead of cooling so it can keep your fish fingers and custard warm!
Also a working Remote control Sonic Screw Driver and a Little Desk Dallek that moves around and will exterminate anything in its path without falling off your desk!

I grew up watching it on PBS. The new stories are too short and fast for my taste, and while I mostly like Tennant's run and wished Eccleston's had lasted longer, I'm rather lukewarm on Matt Smith. He's not my *least* favourite Doctor - that's still Peter Davison. My favourite Doctor alternates between Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker - and while I used to lean more heavily towards Tom Baker, I find myself more often leaning towards Pertwee these days. I wish I could've seen more of Hartnell and Troughton, but I like them conceptually and have enjoyed what I *have* seen of them. I actually like Colin Baker's Doctor quite a bit, too.
And I've never cared for the new TARDIS control room designs. There are aspects I like, but all-in-all I prefer the old designs (my favourite design being the wooden alternate control room that I think we saw in only one episode).

Oh yea, we're here. Waiting for this year's Xmas Special.

Die-hard fan since 1978.
Also, we tend to prefer Doctor, not Dr, but that's me splitting hairs.
And one of these days I'll actually update my Doctor Who website again!

Amy and Rory for life!

A little something I came across a long time back, for you David Tennant fans out there :)

Be sure to stay for the "bonus track" on the musical there :D

I've been a fan pretty much since 1973, although I must confess to losing interest around the Sylvester McCoy era.

Don't forget this one. It launched a thousand gifs.

At first, I didn't know what to make of dr.who, early episodes
seemed kind of long winded and political. But after seeing more episodes,
there are gems out there. Just have to find 'your' Doctor'.
I like Hartnell, Troughten, now Matt Smith seems cool.
The Time Machine, props are abstract, also was the British show" The Prisoner'.
maybe it's the way they do things?
It is Star Trek for people that like to exercise their minds more.
-
Its a combination of the way they do things and the fact that they had very little money to do it with at the time.

I am really looking forward to this years Christmas special.

A brand-spanking new TARDIS interior will be revealed in the Christmas special. I'm not posting the image here in case some don't wish to be spoiled. The rest of you, feast your eyes via this link!
New TARDIS console-room, revealed! (http://www.doctorwhonews.net/2012/12/new-tardis-interior-revealed-191212084216.html)

Link incorrect and when corrected the post was pulled. :(
However there are pics (http://www.hypable.com/2012/12/18/doctor-who-new-tardis-christmas-special/doctor-who-new-tardis-interior-full/) out there. Very retro Who.
Also sounds as if Sir Ian McKellen is doing a voice roll in the Christmas Special.
-
Fixed it. T'was a code-error on my part. Thanks for the heads-up :)
-
I like that interior better.
-
I like it, definitely a retro feel to it. State of the art, circa Space 1999 ;)

All right, if you don't want to be spoiled then what are you doing here? Go away now.
I'm warning you. You will be spoiled. At bit at least.
Wow. Loved it. The snowmen were a bit stupid but still.
It's smaller on the outside.
Winter is coming.
Run you clever boy. And remember.
-
Loved the new intro. It's got a classic feel to it. Classic intro, classic interior, classic enemy. I'm curious about this Clara.
-
As I said on my facebook:
Wow! Doctor's face in the new title sequence made me squee like a kid. We haven't seen that since 1989!
-
Loved it. Love the new Companion. Love the more emotional Doctor.
-
I have a gigantic crush on Matt Smith's Doctor. My crush on Tennant's Doctor is marginally smaller.
-
That was fun. Strax must be a fun character to right for.
Love the new opening. Love the new control room and the mystery that is Clara Oswin Oswald. Plus the chemistry between her and The Doctor is quite invigorating. He always chooses a companion who's at least curious about things and actually can reason things out without being told.
And I thought "the test" as a clever bit of writing. "Words" :)
So has she been fractured through time? Did she imprint herself so significantly on the "snow" that every so often enough of its "water" comes together to reform her body and mind? Or is the GI (aka Yog-Sothoth) playing the long game with The Doctor to help usher it's return?
It should be an interesting mystery to solve for the rest of the season.

Didn't see the new Who last night (don't have BBCA :-\) though I did see much of the marathon (was dog sitting at a friends - would have stuck around for the new one, but would have been late getting home, and would have had to have cheated on my limited due to medical condition diet more than I already had for the holidays.)
While I like what I see of the new design, my favorite will always be:

I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of Clara fans. She's fun and the chemistry between them seems genuine. It will be a fun run.
I completely glossed over the new opening. Will have to rewatch on the DVR when I get home from work.
-
Excellent episode - can't wait to see the rest of the season. And isn't she a cheeky monkey - almost laughed loud enough to wake my son when she shot him the eye climbing the ladder to the Tardis.
Corvus, excellent tip on that mashup vid - now I've gotta dig out my Space:1999 DVDs and watch em til the Mrs gives me the eye-roll of doom.

That's one thing I like about it, it had some serious nodding going on it the direction of the that old look.
Overall I quite liked this ep, I feel it was better than than the previous Christmas one. Still, I don't think any new Christmas episodes will ever be able to top the Christmas Carol one , that was just outright brilliance on every front I can think of.
-
Watched it a 2nd time. Now wouldn't it be somewhat cruel if the rest of the season he keeps finding her only to lose her again and again. Sort of an eternal companion ala Moorcock. ???
Now I doubt that from looking at the previews. Now who else is excited that Gaiman is writing the Cybermen episode? Hands ;D
And why do I get a Captain Nemo vibe off of one of the clips?

And all because he's really in a coma or dream state somewhere this whole time...

And you are welcome, Aleksandros!

My hand goes up too. I haven't liked everything Gaiman's ever written (or read all of it either, for that matter), but he's always amazingly creative doing it.
The Nemo feel might be because we know an ep-to-come is going to take place on a sub...
-

And, incidentally, I would like to remind everyone how the Doctor took off the bracelet that was protecting him from the nanites. I thought that was going to be of future importance back when it happened, and I'm thinking it even moreso now.
-
Another Whovian here as well. Like the good Doctor, I'm still missing Amy and Rory the red shirt so it will take me a little longer for the new companion to grow on me. She's rather 'perky,' and I'm not sure if I'm all that fond of it as a character device. Loved the nod to other SF series, such as the Game of Thrones with the "winter is coming" quote. Thought the rest of the cast in the new Christmas special was brilliant.
-
Crossposted.
I really missed not being able to beat up evil snowmen this year.
I watched the Doctor Who Christmas special this year, and all I wanted to do after was go beat the hell out of winterlings, and maybe the Winter Lord, but I'm a blaster, and I'd expect to get my butt kicked. ;]
*sigh*
Despite that, Happy Holidays everyone, and happy new year!
2cp. ;]
And for the record, Mr. and Mrs. Pond, Rose, Donna, Martha in that order of preference of companions from the newer series, I'd have to go back and watch all the old episodes again it's been too long.
And I'm waiting till I have at least six episodes of Clara to place her in the favorites queue.
*Always* The Girl Who Waited, and The Last Centurion. Redshirt, yes. But it's Imperial Roman Legion Red.
-
Well the Royal Mail just issued Doctor Who stamps (http://adland.tv/ooh/royal-mail-just-revealed-their-doctor-who-stamps-all-tardis).
-
Not to be outdone by Iron Man, looks like the Cybermen have undergone some upgrades. I have faith Neil Gaiman's episode will be good enough to cancel out the two bad Mark Gatiss episodes I'm going to have to suffer through. "One may to tolerate a world of demons for the sake of an angel." To quote the Madame du Pompadour (the fictional one, that is! ;D)
-
Just hope Gaiman coins a better phrase for the Cybermen other than "Delete, delete, delete."
Still, I love the Cybermen and really enjoyed the giant steampunk CyberKing in "The Next Doctor." Great episode.
And the Daleks still have a plunger. (Going to play with the stuffed Dalek my husband got me for Christmas now, lol.)

They have trouble with clogging up their sinks with mutant slime.

OOohh Eteranal Companion. Brilliant idea. I'd love a Moorcockian twist, but doubt it'll happen..
But I knew I was a Father XMas fan for a reason..... Just brilliant..
-
I was a little girl in the 70s, so it seemed to me that the BBC just sorta took all the 70s and previous doctors and tossed them into a mix, and tossed out the early saturday and sunday mix... That said, how could Tom Baker not be my fav...
Of the new.. Still hard to call. Eccelston was brilliant; but Tennant was lovely, too.
Smith is finally growing on me, but he still seems the weakest of the new series of Doctors.. The thing I loved most about Smith was the writing.
I do love Rory and Amy, tho.
OK, I also love River Song.. Then again, I also loved the Doctors previous daugher.. This incarnation..
But, I have to admit, I'm on the Clara bandwagon.. And it has nada to do with our name similarities...
I Just love Clara. Hope she keeps acting like I would.. :) OK, maybe some name thingy might be about...
-
Smith is finally growing on me, but he still seems the weakest of the new series of Doctors.
IMHO, he's the one that's MOST like the classic Doctors, and that's why I adore him. He's very Troughton-esque.
-
I like me a Doctor with moxie.
-

I dunno, he seems to lack personality to me and then tries to sell it with quirkiness that feels forced. Maybe if his episodes were better, I might feel differently. But they seem so short and it often feels like not much is happening until the last 5-10 minutes and then the magic wand of status quo is waved. To me the best part about Matt Smith's run has been Rory, Amy, and River.
-
I guess we're seeing things differently then, because he's never seem forced to me. Tennant did at times, but Smith? I don't see it at all. He's the first actor to play the part since Tom Baker that just exudes the kind of eccentric aura that makes you almost believe he could be an alien.
Except that Tom Baker really IS an alien, duh ;)

Also, Smith brings out the Doctor's childish side adorably well, he is incredibly whimsical, something I have missed for a very long time. Tennant was SRS DR or ANGRY DR, and very very little whimsy outside of the holiday special stuff (which is by nature slightly whimsical).
-
The only time I recall him exuding natural whimsy was during the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe homage. He had kind of a Wonka vibe there. And at various other times he's hit on childish petulance pretty well. But all in all he seems to have all the dullness of Peter Davison's Doctor with a thin veneer of quirks.

We'll just agree to disagree because I find Smith fantasticly fabulous. :)
-
The very first episode with little Amy he was the flippin' Cat in the Hat.
-
Tennant all the way for me. I like Smith but he lacks the range and isn't as faceted as Tennant. One thing the writers overdo for the eleventh doctor is the portmanteau extrapolation and by that I mean when Smith's dialog devolves when trying to describe a concept and he trims the fat repeatedly until he comes up with a blended word that sums it up tidily (other times not as tidy). You can almost set your clock to it. Nonetheless it's still fun to watch and when he nails it as the doctor he absolutely nails it.
-
Smith rocks. Hush you haters. :P (<---- denotes playfullness not seriousness)
-
"Splendid chap, all of them!" (But I do like Smith a lot)
