Title: Is this a bug?
Post by: Shinobu on July 05, 2009, 05:07:01 PM
First of all... there's a nice stickied post on how to link to a build, but nowhere can I find where it lists the ID for my build in the program.

However, the gist of my problem is this:  a friend worked up a possible build for my scrapper in mids and sent it to me.  I went over it and then downloaded the program and worked up my own build (partly working from what I already have -- I don't have the respects to just yank out every IO I already own, and I don't like a few of the things my friend did in his build anyway).

My problem is that in his build, melee defense shows at some 46%.  In my build, it shows 15% less.  I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out why, because my build actually incorporates some melee defense set bonuses and his does not.  What I eventually figured out was that, when I turned on DA, it added 15% to my build but 30% to his build.

This confuses me because both builds have DA six-slotted with a full Mako's set, and my build has more global recharge built into it (I don't think his has any at all?)   Yet mids insists that his DA would recycle faster and double stack.

From practical experience, I've had DA quadruple stack, so keeping it double stacked in the middle of a battle has never been any problem at all.  Ultimately what mids is telling me just seems really misleading.  It seems to suggest that in his build DA would hit more often and my melee defense would be higher, when I don't see how that's actually the case.  Or else I'm missing something?

Since I don't know what my build ID is, here's the text version:

And his proposed build, with fewer sets and fewer bonuses, no global recharge or melee defense bonus that I could find, but somehow claims to give me a higher melee defense:

You had DA listed as stacking only one time (15% melee/lethal defense). I put DA up to two stacks (30% melee/lethal defense), and it matched.

You can change stacking by dragging the little green slider that has a number beside it underneath the description and above the stats.

Ah, ok.  I didn't know how do to that.

Now I understand better.  His build was to show me how to get AoE and Ranged Defense, and I'm using some of those ideas.  My build is partly based on the reality that I can't swap out ALL of my IOs that are already slotted, and partly based on my love for set bonuses and desire for a greater base melee defense before I enter combat.  After all, I might need to take an alpha strike and my DA isn't guaranteed to hit immediately.

Thanks.
