YOU ARE ALL TRAITORS!!!
Heh, just kidding.
Here's the thing: I'm not doubting the veracity of someone claiming that some of these efforts are long shots. I think everyone here is pretty realistic about the chances of any given try succeeding. But we really don't need people constantly reminding us of it, because at some point, while it's not factually inaccurate, it tends to take on an air of negativity that people who are working hard on these projects don't need.
Think of it kind of like going into a casino with $100 to blow for some mindless fun. You sit down at your favorite gaming table with a buddy of yours, and the whole time you're playing, he's reminding you that the odds of winning at whatever you're playing are against you, that ultimately casinos make $X for every $Y in payout, that you're probably just going to come out of the casino $100 poorer, etc. What your buddy is saying isn't factually wrong, but it also makes for a pretty miserable experience when all you wanted to do was to go in and have some fun.
Likewise, I think that the TF:HM team has constantly been aware that the Disney idea was a long shot, that the Google idea is a long shot, that probably the next three, four, five, or whatever pitches will be long shots. They've openly acknowledged that. The idea isn't to put all of our eggs in one basket though, hoping that any given long shot works out. The idea is that if you take enough long shots, eventually it's pretty likely that one of them will hit.
So I honestly don't think anyone here is trying to sink the efforts of the TF:HM team. No one is out to start trouble. Everyone is posting with the best of intentions. But what we really need right now is for 1) people to either stay positive or keep the "well THAT probably won't work..." comments to themselves, unless they have something constructive to add to increase the odds that it WILL work, and 2) for folks to, in general, kind of chill out and stop attacking each other.
