I am only picking out the one date kind of thing we got and that was about Windows 9

" ... Windows 9 should drop before September 2015 at the latest."

http://www.techradar.com/us/news/software/operating-systems/windows-9-release-date-news-and-rumours-1029245

The news was cool.  I guess some people needed the confirmation that ironwolf was telling us.  I don't care who as much as I care about it being back up and running.

Just read the new thread...

First off, my thanks to the group working hard on getting CoH back.  Regardless of what happens from this point on, they have my complete respect.

Secondly, wanted to point out to everyone one part of the proposed deal.  Not doing this to break legs or whatnot, just pointing this out for all to see..

**The existing user database and characters are not part of this arrangement at this time, nor is the source code.**

It looks like to me that if/when we get the i23 Maintenance Mode, it will more than likely be that everyone starts over from scratch.

As I've said before several times this does not bother me in the slightest, but I know that for a few it may be pause for concern.

To add my 2 cents to the MWM theory:

There's nothing to stop them from getting the IP, bringing CoH online, and rebranding CoT to CoH2. With the incentives, all those CoH players would flock to CoT/CoH2.

The question on hand is if the expected playerbase would be worth the costs.

That would be so thematically fitting that it'd make me tear up.

It definitely tempers my excitement significantly.  My characters gone and no i24 are both major downsides...

I agree the loss of I24 and character data sucks massively, but I am still extremely stoked to be getting Paragon city back again!

To be fair, I'd say more that you kind of called it.

as the current model has APR as the successor, and CoT and the others as more...Spin Offs, I suppose.
Also, MWM isn't technically involved. Just Nate.

It's the power of positive thinking! Just like predicting today would be the day of announcement, positive thought!

I had planned to start over with new characters anyway, but losing all the stuff we purchased over the years and not getting i24 is a bit sad. Still, as others have said, I'll be happy just to get the game back. CoH is still the best MMO made in my opinion.

Thank you Irish_Girl for answering many people's questions on the forums regarding the news today. I have another one for you: What is APR?

Atlas Park Revival, the project that is kinda converting CoH to the Unreal Engine, if I understood it correctly.

https://www.facebook.com/AtlasParkRevival is a better destination. The forum doesn't get as much T.L.C. as it should.

I'm really glad for the efforts of IW and the Mysterions, errr Downix and Co.  ;D  I'm proud of you guys!

I also know that the critical piece they need/want is truly the IP - the ability to continue the CoX story.

That they're close to achieving that, I'm very pleased about.

Still, I have to confess - I'm quite disappointed in the CoH-I23 news and the poor condition it's in.

Assuming they get it at all (still a bit up in the air if I understand correctly), it looks like it would have an
extremely short shelf life (months to a year, maybe?), and any issues with running the game would be
problematic (to unsupportable) without source code.

I laud the new efforts, but they will take time and have uncertainties.

With the old COH, we knew what we had -- except now, we don't ....

Maybe the conversion to UE4 will be good, but it won't be the same (how could it when they don't
have the source code to work from), it won't be soon, and it won't truly be home.   :'(

Sorry to be a Negative Nancy, and I certainly don't want to detract from the team's efforts in any way, but
for me, this isn't really a champagne day -- I'm inclined to just wait and see if the new CoH's are any
good or not...  Trying to re-host I23 for a few months, start from scratch, just to have it go away again,
when they can't fix any issues seems ... pointless.

Best Wishes All,
4

I am in! If they are brought back are the old characters going to be brought back too or would we be starting from scratch?
