Title: Marvel Just Broke the Internet Again
Post by: BadWolf on October 28, 2014, 07:39:15 PM
HUGE press conference just a little bit ago, Marvel unveiled all the titles to go with those release dates they've been letting slip. We're getting "Guardians of the Galaxy 2", "Captain America: Civil War", "Thor: Ragnarok"(!), "Black Panther", "Captain Marvel" (confirmed to be Carol Danvers), "Inhumans", and not one but two more Avengers movies, "Infinity War Part One" and 'Infinity War Part Two". Plus a release date for "Doctor Strange", although they weren't yet ready to confirm Benedict Cumberbatch.

WOW.

GotG2 will suck.  Not horribly, but... yeah.  Hard to repeat what happened there, I will bet.  Oh, it'll do ok at the box office, but be not nearly the sensation.

Captain America 3... I have to see Winter Soldier, but likely that'll be a mainstay, and do well.

Thor 3 will.. do okish.

Black Panther will rock, watch, and do quite well indeed.

Captain Marvel will do... admirably, but not as well as hoped, I bet.

Inhumans will beat them all...

...until Avengers 3 shows up.  But Avengers 4 will be like Matrix 3, and disappoint, finally ending the series.

Doctor Strange, if Cumberbatch is named, will then BEAT THE SMITEREENS OUT OF THEM ALL BECAUSE CUMBERBATCH, and you know of his legion of fans, right?

---

These are but a guess, and I don't hold any true expectations of being absolutely right.  I look forward to seeing how I did.  What year do I have to live for to see the results?  2025?  :p

Cap 3 (aside from the fact that Winter Soldier was great) has Tony Stark as the "villain" -- yeah, I think it will manage to do OK

.. I wonder how many people will see the title "Captain Marvel" and go "Huh?  Who's that?  Where's Billy?"

I kinda hope it's a lot.

As much as I agree with you about Captain Marvel, DC only has themselves to blame.  It's unfortunate, but that ship has sailed.

My prediction: Ant-Man is really gonna raise the bar for superhero movies. I mean...Guardians of the Galaxy? Who expected that to do so well after The Avengers?

Marvel.

Can't.

Fail!!!

Anybody want to bet the "Capt, I'm always angry" moment in Ant Man is him growing huge?  Or Wasp showing up?

Probably not many. The trade dress for the "Power of Shazam!" Captain Marvel hasn't been 'Captain Marvel' in about fifty years, and anyone who's enough of a fan to know his name is enough of a fan to know why Marvel has their own Captain Marvel(s).

Me, I'd love to see Monica Rambeau in this one, but that's because I grew up with Roger Stern's Avengers. :)

Or: "Who's this chick?  Where's Mar-Vell?"

See, now, that's closer to what I said.

"Wait.  Captain Marvel was Kree and Carol Danvers was Ms. Marvel, wasn't she?"

Captail Mar-vell died in the early 80s so I don't think he's who the mainstream media will be thinking of.  Ms. Marvel got a promotion recently to Captain and there's a new young woman (teenager?) under the name Ms. Marvel.

Frankly, I think most people will think of Shazam but get over it quickly.
