Scarlet Blade
« on: March 30, 2013, 09:04:30 AM »
Alright, in the recent times I been traveling from game to game trying out stuff. Many just for the hell of it others, just for the hell of it.
One game I recently came across and tried out is Scarlet Blade. Its in Open beta or rather at least was last time I logged on. Been about a week.

It's...different than most other games I tried to say the least yet so similar to the average MMO out there.

It's familiar in the fact that every one look the same if they pick the same class.
Familiar in the fact it has click to move option
Familiar in the fact the default controls seemed to require the mouse and letter button to move. I'm classic control lover. I found a way to effectively move with the arrows which involved inverted camera and now movement works just like my setup in COX CO and other game of that sort.
It's gear based. What you wear affect the stats.
There is a lot of open missions but spawns regenerate quick.

I find it curious that most mobs don't attack you on sight, but seemed not uncommon in those types of games.

Different in that it's all female characters and definitely not meant for kids. Seriously. I wouldnt recommend anyone letting their kid play this game. But I'm not the parent so it is what it is but it wouldnt be logical to get angry and offended when the kid see some things that is adult material. This game is adult material. It seems to be about clones, all females, trying to save the world or something. Now this dont bother me, but when you have something this apologetically sexual in nature and you add to the mix other humans, things get a little strange and creepy with some people's behavior but nothing too far from what can be found in just about any game.  Again, this game isnt for the modest and expect everything in their lives and others to be modest, and I dont mean in a bad way it's just this game dont hide it.

Thus far actually not much ERP I seen yet but then again 99.9999199299299999% of the time I'm in my own little world so may have missed it. At least none bothered me with it.

Although much of the player base do have a tendency to stick to the shout channel. Not sure what that is about I guess people like shouting over there.

In the beta stage, it's light on content but more than likely will increase later down the road. It's free thus far, seemingly depending on micro transactions. The store currency can get pricey but hey, we all have hundreds and hundreds of dollars laying around in the sofa cushions right? :p

Graphically, it's ok. It dont seem to go for realism more like a fantasy/sci fi feel to it.

Overall solid game, seems a bit on the easy side so far but rumor is that they will crank it up later. Keyword there, Rumor.

I probably wont stick around too much longer, sci-fi fantasy not my cup of tea but solid game if one don't care or is not bothered by mature stuff. But I'm neutral about the game. Dont particularly like it but don't particular dislike it. I see it for me as something to do here and there about 2-3 times a year to play.

Obvious Open beta tip- Dont get too deep in the character or attached. Word is they plan on wiping everything clean by the next step.

Isn't this the game that's pretty much as close as you can get to porn without actually being porn?

I downloaded this today and played for about an hour. Aside from the woeful lack of customization at character creation, one neat feature I saw was that new quests are transmitted directly to you via radio/comm device. This keeps you moving forward rather than having to go back to an old contact or search for a new one.

Another feature that I hadn't seen before was that you can click on links in your quest list to auto-pilot run you directly to the spawn point or contact location of your next objective. I suppose this could be dangerous in later levels where the environment is more hazardous, but it's not too much of a risk at level 5.

Ultimately, it's just another WoW clone with incremental skill upgrades and "Kill X Things" quests. <Uninstalled>

basically.

I forgot to mention those two features.

From what I've seen of it, they should've named the game "Fan Service Online: Wrath of Jiggle Physics".  :P

Mmm... delicious jiggle physics.  Alas, I've only briefly seen the game through a friend's involvement in Beta.

Word on the street is that it's only being slightly censored so far in the transition west.  Hopefully it'll end up like TERA in that someone will release an original textures pack for it.

I just saw a thread about this over on the GW2 forums.  They had a link to an in game video that makes B&S look like a church social.  I think they tried to make costumes out of shoelaces.  Lucky aglets.

Just one thing. from lvl 10 upwards there are Monsters that attack you.

Girls & Guns in a SF setting, reclaiming Earth after a nuclear winter.

I like it

My first thought about it was "Blade & Soul IN SPACE". :p

From what I've seen of it, they should've named the game "Fan Service Online: Wrath of Jiggle Physics".  :P
It started as Queen's Blade Online, ie a tie in to a franchise that pretty much exists for the sole purpose of fanservice.
We were heroes. We were villains. At the end of the world we all fought as one. It's what we did that defines us.
The end occurred pretty much as we predicted: all servers redlining until midnight... and then no servers to go around.

Somewhere beyond time and space, if you look hard you might find a flash of silver trailing crimson: a lone lost Spartan on his way home.

But unlike Queens Blade, where HP lost result in torn Clothes, your Clothing in Scarlet Blades stays intact and perfectly neat ;-)

They reference many anime in that Game.

Replay value is probably zero. Both Factions have exactly the same Quests and Starter Areas. It seems light on actual content.

I blame Joshex for this one.  :P

So I downloaded this and decided to give it a try.  After 2 hours I can safely uninstall it and not bother. Another in the upcoming crop of "free 2 play" stuff I can avoid. The good news is that it has a better UI than Neverwinter  :o but not as good as CO which is still not so great in the UI department.

I can just see Aeria games making Heroine of City and Joshex rolling over laughing all night long.

Please bump and reply, ok I've been playign this game for a while now, but I've seen it go down hill really really fast, it started with goldspammers galore, there was accounthacking and botting right from the beginning, now I've seen battle hacking, speed hacks, and a broken gearing system and armor which allows ranged players to exploit thier achitype and not only have superior range but heavier def and void than some melee players.

the PVP is broken.

I will nto be playing SB any longer and am organizing a boycott of it's filth till it's fixed, seriously they call themselves game developers, they don't know the first thing about balancing architypes for PVP!

http://www.change.org/petitions/liveplex-ballence-the-pvp-in-scarlet-blade#share

please sign the petition and spread it around. I would like to play the game but wont be playing it until it's fixed. seriously thats rediculous.

hehehe yeah that would be a floor roller for sure. seriously whats up with all the korean game developers lately? not just that they are all playing on the 'sell sex' marketting ploy but thier country's laws forbid them from letting it go too far. it's ... counter productive and.. who are these novice game developers? seriously.. compared to our developers of CoH, Liveplex is a bunch of fresh out fo college kids who don't know anything about how to make a game work.

I can't believe this game survived in korea and made it to the USA, I have never seen a game that is more broken and has more bugs and exploits in it at this point and time. seriously it's well past the beta stage now and it's still loaded with bugs and a badly designed UI.

It's China with the problem.  Korea doesn't have a problem with the "sex sells" thing (and they really have a thing of legs).  Japan doesn't have much of a problem either.

interesting, Aeria told us that Liveplex being a korean company had to follow laws of it's own country regarding nudity in games, (especially below the belt) and thats why scarlet blade will never have more severe adult content, seriously I found out becaue the GM jumped on my thread on thier forums and deleted it when I asked for more uncensoring and possibly more adult features in the future.

anyways, I guess it's a possibility that aeriagames was confused about the situation. either way aeria has made it's descision rather strongly about the topic and will have no discussions on the matter of uncensoring the lower regions.

There is a huge difference between a "live all nude" adult video game and "sex sells" what we get in Scarlet Blade and Blade & Soul.  I thought you were referring to the "lots of skin" outfits from Blade & Soul and even Guild Wars 2 that had to be modified or removed for the China closed beta.

South Korea is interesting because plunging necklines is frowned upon but short, short skirts aren't.  Like I said they love their legs, maybe that's why B&S females has freakish long legs.

This is an episode from a YouTube series of a husband/wife pair of Canadian's living in South Korea, discussing the problems of being shaped differently from the natives.

It's like anything when dealing with morals.

In Europe, no one cares about nudity much. But the violence in films is frowned upon if too much espeically major films. While people raise bloody hell over nipple slip here but dont mind people being caught in contraptiosn and being chopped into bits and pieces and loosing limbs and eyes.

mm.. still, makes me miss CoH, every time I see how badly planned the architypes are for PVP I remember PVP in CoH, gosh I miss it. CoH's PVP was the best I've ever seen in an MMO.

so well balenced, yet enhancements and bonuses made the difference but even that wasn't too drastic. oh an the regen and recovery is per tick even in battle. SB needs to learn from that, currently in SB regen and such stop the moment you attack or are attacked.

city of heroes had so much architype customization!, in SB if you want to do PVP you need to gear your player in the one and only PVP fashion.. no exceptions or you'll fail.

it's... it lacks customization, of coarse I'm angry that my build even though it's good can't do PVP well because I don;t have one specific attack thats only good for PVP.

screw that.

but the main thing is, they have mage tanks, seriously the ranged players have it all. it's sad. agian please help get signitures on the petition.. if CoH doesn;t come back soon I want something remotely similar to play that doesn't have a broken PVP system.
