If 300 half-dressed guys can hold off the entire Persian army for three days, we can do this!

300 half-dressed guys would certainly help bring attention to our efforts. I'd be happy to donate time in recruiting models for this. I, uh, I mean... for the sake of helping the efforts! I mean, it's not like... uh oh hey, a Fake Nemesis! *runs**cues up "The Weather Girls" for Teege*
The Battle of Thermopylae is an apt metaphor, heroes. We face a far superior force, and lesser men and women would despair at the odds against us. The Greeks who chose to fight that rear guard in the narrow pass knew they had no chance of survival. They stood there and died to buy time for their countrymen.
Actually... *checks sources*
Hmm, NCSoft has approximately 3,000 employees. Wait, scratch that. 2,920.
What's that petition up to now, 19,000?
/em standing ovation
Being clinically depressive myself--and unable to medicate conventionally because every anti-depressant I have tried flatlines my creative ability--I know how hard it is to function under conditions like this, much less write something this upbeat.
Huh... I wonder if that explains that while Paxil works for me I've not really written anything fanfiction wise in.. *cough*years*cough*
Quick, everyone, grab your shields, spears, and man underwear, we've got em' by the short an' curlies!
Aragorn: HOLD YOUR GROUND! HOLD YOUR GROUND! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me!
A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is NOT THIS DAY!
An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is NOT THIS DAY!
THIS day we FIGHT!
By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you STAND, MEN OF THE WEST!
Quick, everyone, grab your shields, spears, and man underwear, we've got em' by the short an' curlies!
It might. Talk to your doctor if this bothers you. I use a combination of herbs and supplements that keeps things somewhat at bay, and the rest of the time I tough it out with the help of watching comedy, but that's not for everyone. You might actually respond better to some of the old antidepressants, before SSRIs. My editor at DAW does. But like I said, talk to your doctor if this bothers you.

So, it comes down to is this dimming of my creativity worth the loss of the other benifits Paxil gives me?
Since I dont make my living as a writer of fiction; I would have to say no. Its just something to be aware of, you know?
I was on several other, older Trycyclic styles before I was put on Paxil. I dont respond to them as well as I do paxil. I'm a friggin SSRI poser child!Having ADHD I have seen similar with our meds. Only in our support community we talk about suppliment options to help overcome the creative lethargy. Just a thought to look into.

DAMN RIGHT we are!
I just put on my Dominator Heels of Pain!
Elizabeth Swann: I understand the burden you bear, but I fear that cause is lost.
Will Turner: No cause is lost if there is but one fool left to fight for it.
Oh - and just because it was "Talk like a Pirate Day" and I was perusing the quote pages for the POC movies at IMDB - I found this little gem that works for us:
...gentlemen...hoist the colours!
LOL!!!
(glances) Wait... you look serious about that... *Edges slowly away from VV*
:o
I'll be having dinner tonight with a pharmacist who specializes in mental health. By taking the time to type this, I'm about ten times more likely to remember to ask her opinion on the matter.
I'm going to bump this one, maybe two more times. I'm still seeing some strong negativity in corners, and I want to make sure everybody has a chance to read through some of the posts here and realize that, again, you are not alone. The fight is not over, negotiations between NCSoft and some of the devs is still on-going, and the fact that these negotiations have even lasted this long is a positive thing.
It shows that NCSoft is at least taking a serious look at the offers on the table, and no doubt negotiation is continuing back and forth as new subjects and points of interest are brought up. If they weren't even somewhat interested in passing along the IP, they would have told our boys(and gals) to go away and stop bugging them already. :)

Honestly...I am old. It's more like Rosa Klebb's Sensible Shoes of Pain.....

The thing to remember about being positive or negative is it can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. True, we aren't the hand lingering over the on/off switch, but we can hold that hand back for a long time with our efforts - by telling everyone we know that we love this world and we want it to continue. If we allow despair to take hold, all of the heroes leave the battlefield.
Do everything you can to keep people's spirits up. We need them to keep fighting. Stay optimistic. Focus on what we know to be true - this world is worth saving and there is plenty of realistic hope remaining. If we should lose this fight, don't let it be because there weren't enough people shaking their fists, defiant until the end.
Now everyone pop a Break Free and get back in the fight.
I agree with this so hard that I logged in to quote it for what I think might be first post.
Ever since the news about the sun-setting of COH was posted on the CoH forums, I have been thinking about the various MMO communities.
Granted, I haven't visited every MMO out there. I have, however, played several of them.
Of all the MMOs I've been a part of, CoH has had the most unique community that I have seen.
I have a theory about why that may be.
It seems to me that many, I would go so far as to say that a vast majority of the long time players, have invested a lot of themselves into the characters that they play.
In so doing, they are influenced and even inspired to become more like the very heroes that they play.
So, this community, full of players inspired by heroes, acts with more integrity than any other that I have seen.
In a very real sense, this game that people use to get away from the stress of the real world, changes them for the better.
It urges them to actually be the heroes that the real world needs.
I'm sure that this would have been much more inspiring if I had an author's way with words.
It's just really hard for me to put how I feel down on paper, so to speak. :-[
I could not have said it better myself. That means a lot to me, coming from you. :)

By the way, I met one of your fans over on The Secret World MMO forums.
At least, I figured he was a fan, since he used the name Ashkevron. :)
"The beatings will continue until morale improves!" :DYou are, or know, a Marine, right? ;D
Wasn't sure where to post this, so I thought here was as good as anywhere.
Last week I visited an exhibit on video games at the Smithsonian's American Art Museum in DC. The very first placard had this to say, which I thought rather relevant to our situation:..................................
Three Voices
Artist, Game, Player
..................................
Video games combine graphics, sound,
story, and interaction to create meaningful
and immersive experiences. Imaginative
artists and designers use this medium to
create worlds and tell stories. None of this
is possible, however, without the participation
of the player. Everyone who plays a game
puts a little of themselves into the experience,
and takes away something that is wholly unique.
The conversation among the game, the artist,
and the player is critical to understanding video
games as art.
