Finally fired up Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition for a bit of a refreshing change. I'm still fairly early in it, but I'm enjoying playing with my custom party like the old days. There are some nice tweaks like being able to legitimately create a party (never cared for the npcs) rather than use the multiplayer workaround, as well as having so many of the class kits to further customize them. Other quality of life changes include support for higher resolution character portraits that scale, so you don't need 3 versions, as well as being able to write notes into the journal.
I typically roll with 2 mages, but in a bit of nostalgia for my old characters across so many games, I opted for a party dominated mostly by fighters: barbarian, paladin, kensai, ranger, invoker mage (because, fireball!), thief/cleric (utility toon ; ' )
Reviews of the Siege on Dragonspeare ecpansion that Beamdog created haven't been so good, so i will likely go straight over to bgii.
