Norton is the devil when it comes to Paragon Chat. I know someone who lost EVERYTHING because of a Norton update. So once you get up and running again, do yourself a favor:
1. Click the blue folder icon underneath where you enter you password on the xmpp login.
2. Copy the folder called Database and back it up somewhere safe. A USB or something.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 at least once a month if not more frequently. The Database stores all your character info and progress, so it's a good idea to back it up even if you aren't using Norton, just in case.
That being said, here is the thread that talks about AV software and Pchat, if you haven't visited it already:

It's a bit of a memory hog, so you might need to close out of other applications or background processes if they aren't necessary. Chrome is a huge memory hog so if you are using that it's best to close the browser or at least only keep a tab or two open.
Some of the smarter, geekier kids may have better advice for you though. So I'll hush now and wait for their two cents.
